delurking for a bit of info for all the German FK fans...

hi
If I am not mistaken, Nigel is in "Top of the Food Chain", right?? It
actually only caught my eye thanks to two familiar writers: Phil Bedard
and Larry Lalonde <G> and I seem to remember Nigel being in it...hope I
am right or this post doesn't make much FK sense LOL
Anyway, said movie will be in cinema in Berlin, Germany this Saturday as
part of a film festival...so in case anyone in Germany is in the area,
the cinema is the UFA-Royal Palast at the Europa Center, district
Charlottenburg. The movie will be shown at 2pm.

okay, ARE there any FK fans in Berlin anyway??? LOL
back to lurking...

Excuse me, but that is <outrageous>! What is their justification in doing
this? Are children choking on the book? I don't think so. I paid for MY
copy, and I'm keeping it. If they want it they'll have to come and take it

Just my two cents.

I heartily agree! If *THEY* would give us books, we wouldn't need to go
through all of this.
Sorry to hear about this, Jean. The book was awesome! So awesome in
fact, that I lost track of it, with everyone I know wanting to borrow it!
I was going to suggest that they buy their own copy, but... ::sigh:: oh,
well.

Alright, because I'm lazy and don't feel like looking through all the FK
image and sound sites I have bookmarked, I'm asking for help finding three
things:

1. A good quality screen capture of the scene in Ashes to Ashes with Nick and
LaCroix in the Raven, N standing behind LC with his hand on his shoulder
saying "If you need me, LaCroix."

2. A sound file of the lines N: "If you need me, LaCroix."
                                       LC: "Thank you, Nicholas."

3. A sound file of Natalie from Only the Lonely saying to Sidney something
like "Nobody can deny that *you* are a jolly good fellow Sidney"

If someone could either send me these offlist, or send me and offlist email
pointing me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,

Subject: Sony's demands

Just to clarify: Sony demanding a recall of all distributed copies of ON HOLY
GROUND does *not* mean that you have to comply and return yours. This is
merely a legal codicil in the Intellectual Property Dept.'s standard cease &
desist threat. They don't know who you are and so cannot show up on your
doorstep demanding the book, unless of course you write to them, admit you
have a copy and tell them where to find you. (Personally, I don't recommend
it.)

It's not just a _legal_ justification -- it's pretty much a *requirement*.
Forever Knight is Sony's intellectual property, and if they let something
as large and as public as OHG go unremarked, other people will feel it is
okay to step on their intellectual property.

From what has been written to this list, it appears that Sony has either
issued Jean a "cease and desist" letter and/or has confiscated her
backstock, on grounds of intellectual property infringement -- i.e., she
didn't get the OK from them to go and publish the book. I suspect that
demanding the recall of all the illegally-published matter is pretty much
pro forma for the c&d, as the fewer copies in existence, the fewer
possibilities that that particular instance of IP-stomping will have to be
policed.

>Are children choking on the book? I don't think so.

That doesn't matter one bit.

>I paid for MY copy, and I'm keeping it. If they want it they'll have to
>come and take it from me.

Enforcing the recall of end-consumer copies is probably near-to-impossible;
however, if they're being really nasty and they know you have it, they
might just try.

In Jean's, and our own, best interests, it might be a good idea to refer on
list only to "The Book We Do Not Have"...

My reaction to this news was to thoroughly kick myself for once again
procrastinating until it's too late. I had planned on picking up my own copy
next week! Drat, curses and phooey!! In fact I have a friend's copy here
that I've borrowed and when I told her there was a "recall" she got so very
upset at the idea of parting permanently with it, that well...umm, I'm sorry

Words cannot describe how much I enjoyed the book and look forward to
reading your other fanfic as well. I'm still a fledgling on the FK web
scene and am just now starting to get involved with KtK. I feel that I
must point out to all FK fans, that we must unite by writing snail mail
letters and sending emails to TPTB... telling then how much we want FK
back on the air and FK Merchandise.

Please note that the letters and emails need to be constructive and to the
point. Yelling and screaming to TPTB will have a negative effect, while
constructive letters and emails will have a very positive effect.

Really. If they intended to actually do something with Forever Knight and

It seems to me that we're in a catch-22 situation. TPTB realize that
there isn't enough of a market to enable them to demand the exorbitant
licensing fees (for merchandise/books/tv-movies) that they really want.
Yet TPTB (or their lawyers) know that they MIGHT be able to make money
off of it somehow so they daren't let anyone have permission to produce
something for only nominal licensing fees. So they keep us in limbo.

LOL, Shenandora... you make it sound like the "Ruhrpott" is
all of Nordhrein-Westfalen. Far from it! It's only a small part,
yet the most densely populated part. :)
Several large cities that almost blend together - if it weren't for
street signs, you could hardly tell where one city ends and the
next begins. And yet, as someone not from the "Ruhrpott",
I feel obliged to remark that the area has undergone a lot
of changes in the past decades and now has more parks than
most areas of Germany. :)

Trying desperately to keep this on topic FK-wise:
Has anybody ever done a crossover with "Tatort", a German
crime drama series? What would Nick and Schanke say to
Schimanski?

But isn't Richard Hatch a brunette?

Yes, I saw him at Toronto Trek last month. He brought the new BG film
trailer to show us.

Probably LC or the security guards, who are Enforcers, of course.

So who would handle the occasional inconvenient body left over from such a

I know "me too" posts are discouraged, but I've just got to say **ME TOO** on
this one!

Howdy folks...

Well, I know it looks like the Virtual 4th Season has died, but it hasn't.
There are actually stories is production, enough to finish the season. In fact,
there is one just about ready to air. We have been suffering from RL, and you
all know how that can drag down the things you really want to do.

Soooooooo.......

I just wanted to let you know that I am doing my best to get the next story
posted, and all the following stories as well. Thank you for being ever so
patient.
