The skilled diggers do get credit in making discoveries today. Often these guys
know more than some of the archaeologists they work for. There are excavators
in Egypt whose families have been doing this work since the late 1800s, and are
real experts. However, if the guy is basically wielding a shovel where the
archaeologist has pointed, yeah, I can see why they'd get overlooked.

No, that was my sense of humor getting the better of me. But just think of Nick
doing the fake confession for Schanke -- I can see him faking him out with one
of his very excellent dialects and making him believe he got the wrong number!

Depends on the Nick. Somehow a lighter color seems to me to suit first
season Nick as played by Ger. Black would be ok for the other Nick.

>2. Is Schanke more or less believable as a skinny guy?

Well, it's John Kapelos in both cases. Having fought a mostly losing battle
with weight all my life, I can't help but sympathize with him. Personally I
prefer Schanke as John developed him in the series. Having see some of the
scripts, I can tell you that his line-delivery softened a character who was
too often written as an obnoxious jerk into a lovable but very human man
whose insecurities sometimes caused the jerkiness.

>3. Could you get away with calling a skinny cop "Donut"?

I doubt it! :)

>4. Can Rick Springfield really compare with Geraint Wyn Davies?

Nope, not imho. I've always said he thinks heavy breathing is the way to
express emotion.

>5. What *were* the casting people smoking when they cast Michael Nader as
>LaCroix?

Here I disagree. I am, of course, a Cousin and a great fan of Nigel's.
However, I liked the Nader LC as a totally different take on what was
intended to be a monochromatic villain. One thing I really find fascinating
is to place Nader's LC against Nigel's, and watch how two actors can take
the same script and find totally different characters.

>6. Is blood really better microwaved?

I've always thought it would taste awful.

>7. Would LaCroix be caught dead with fangs that tiny?

No, but neither would he be caught dead (lovely phrasing, btw) with that
ghastly vamping out make up.

>8. Is it really wise for a vampire to have a listed number?

Nope, but then, we don't affectionately call Nick "the Brick" for nothing.
:) Honest -- the soubriquet was given him by a Knightie.

Yeah! Yeah! One of my pointless trivia pet peeves! It drives me crazy when I
see vamps use the microwave on TV! (And Nancy has heard me rant about this
before in regards to Spike's zap habits). I'm not sure even defrost would work
unless it was well-tended (Can we really see Nick paying that much attention?
He'd have splatter stains on the oven ceiling for sure!).

I think everyone's experienced the defrosted chicken breast slightly cooked on
the edges or the scorched popcorn phenomena. Therein lies the problem.
Microwaves rarely heat evenly. You stick a mug (heaven forbid a pint bag!) of
blood in the microwave and the liquid around the edges become hot first,
whereas the center is cool. Hot blood = broken blood cells = very uncool. It'd
be like the good stuff mixed in with the scummy.

No, I don't have a secret habit that I'm not sharing with the rest of the
class. This blood knowledge comes from working in a microbiology lab for a
year for one of my degrees. Certain bacteria I studied would only grow on
media containing whole red blood cells (called blood agar - tantamount to a
vampire Fruit Roll-Up in texture), while others only grew on media containing
lysed blood cells (called chocolate agar, because the blood turns a milky
brown from the heat). I'd have to wait around for the sterilized media to cool
to a safe temperature so I could make blood agar, not chocolate.

So my firm answer is no, blood is not better microwaved. What was Jeanne-Pierre
thinking?

No. Painted black. And if you are serious, slam it into the ground
until the rocker-panels rub. The lower the better

He is great anyway he is portrayed. I like to think that it reflects
positively on the actor that he was the only one that is in this early film and
the series.

Yes. He can. I saw this version when it came out and loved it a lot.
When the Nick Knight television series started I tried to watch it and didn't
like this "imposter" that they had found to play Nick Knight. I
ignored it until some years ago when there was one of those all
day marathons going on Sci-Fi that was Nick Knight and got hooked then.

I actually liked his portrayal of LaCroix. Far more openly
villianous and hateful, but interesting. Nigel Bennet gave the
character a restraint that is different. If they would bring the show
back but they had Michael Nadar for LaCroix instead of Nigel
Bennet, I would give the man the benefit of the doubt and watch it.

Mmm. I think these folks would really live up to the sort of sign that
