To All Who Keep Pics! Sorry to interrupt, but I thought that what with all the saved FK pics out there I'd better send this and save someone else of a huge *disaster*. My brother bought a digital camera and very nicely gave me the software so that I could use it too. Little did any of us know that the software (Polaroid PhotoMax Image Maker) would change the format of **ALL** the pictures in my hard drive regardless of *when* I had saved them, to its own special format. This format does not allow you to retrieve your pics *except* via their program! Uninstalling the program does NOT put things to right! There was NO warning on the software package! I'm going to try uninstalling and reinstalling my old storage system in the hopes that I can prevent having to go back and re-search for over a hundred fav pics. I'm praying the old system still works for one last time and that the pics are still there. Please, please, if you ever get a digital camera, research a software program before installing it. My brother feels awful. Close to tears, Kyer kyer@p....... ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 Apr 2000 17:38:28 -0700 From: Kyer <kyer@p.......> Subject: Warning! To All Who Keep Pics! All my pic files have been corrupted by the digital camera from Heck! <SOB!> Months of saving! GONE! Please, if you have a picture archive with downloadable pics, can you send me the addy? I want my Nicks back!!! Waaaaaaaah! Kyer kyer@p....... ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 Apr 2000 21:07:38 -0400 From: Stephanie Kellerman <stephke@i.......> Subject: Re: Warning! To All Who Keep Pics! Kyer, Can you send me one of the pics so I can see what the format is? Don't get rid of them yet. I might be able to figure something out. Do you use Windows 95 or what? It might not be the format of the pics it might be that the software registered itself to open all the pics no matter what the format. Some software does that and that can be changed. Please send one to me. -- Steph stephke@i....... http://www.fkvoyage.com http://www.nimr.org "The sea..where each man, as in a mirror, finds himself", Richard Basehart as Ishmael "If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun." Kyer, I went to the Polaroid site and looked at the software. It supports several formats so I am sure what happened is that it registered itself in windows to open up all the different kinds of pics. As I said this can be changed back. -- Steph stephke@i....... http://www.fkvoyage.com http://www.nimr.org "The sea..where each man, as in a mirror, finds himself", Richard Basehart as Ishmael "If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun." RL does tend to keep one busy and interfere. I didn't get near as many of the nomination read as I would have liked to. What I got to were wonderful and I intend to read the rest even if I can't vote for them this year. One of the RL problems I've run into is that the weather has finally turned nice here in Ohio. Maybe next year we could have the awards while the weather is still gross and we're all locked away with our computers and our favorite vamps just to maintain our sanity. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 29 Apr 2000 11:16:25 -0400 From: Portia 1 <portia1@m.......> Subject: Re: Award Voting Wanted to say sorry to you all that the below notice came late. Her hospital stay was a fiasco - the doctors didn't seem to be able to do anything about the strokes, so they finally agreed to let her go home. Susan can't move around well, driving is out of the question, and she's in a tremendous amount of pain. As you might imagine, she's feeling pretty blue. The good news is that she can at least sit up for a little while now, so she's able to read her email again. If anyone would like to send her a message, her email addy is suspierce@a........ She's really missed everyone on list. They DO reconize your ISP address and therefore you loose weight on the chart lowering FK's position. If you've already done it this month, just remember not to do it anymore so hopefully FK will be higher next month.* This is a reminder for you to vote at the Global 100 on HIGH LEVEL (this is very important and determines the weight of your votes, which then determines FK's Position). If you're already on a HIGH level then just go here to add your weekly vote: http://www.global100.com/item.asp?Item=51259 If not simply go to your "personal card" and answer the questions about your birthday, age, and gender. Once you do they will send you a "key" via e-mail which you then can paste on your personal card. Aftrewards you will be on HIGH level. (if you have any questions about this, feel free to e-mail me). FK's currently #7 unofficially. Officially it is #4. Thanks for voting!
