Whichever you prefer, I've got a bumch of crosses that appeared on FK during one season or another that I need to get identified. I'm betting most of them are from SOB of Games Vampire Play (the church scene), but they could be scattered just about anywhere throughout the three seasons. Joan's cross isn't one of them pictured (sorry), nor is the cross worn by the first murder victim from "For I have Sinned." The pictures are large to give you a bit more detail. I think anything that can be done to promote FK that doesn't cost anything or hurt anyone should be lauded. And I don't mind her messages taking up digest space. It's not like we've been doing anything else worthwhile lately. Although, actually, in the past couple of weeks discussions are getting interesting, especially with people going back to the source material (i.e., the series) and reinvestigating what's there. I know we all get up with the 'whose gonna see this' thing, but you never know who is where anymore. Stranger things have happened, most of them earlier this morning. This is a prop and it's not signed, but I figured people would be interested anyway. A couple of these are being donated to charity auctions, but here's your chance to own a piece of the book Nick was certain would lead to his cure. Due to the unique nature of this item EVERYONE is eligible to enter this raffle. Please note that ALL raffle items are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity which tells you where the item came from, who signed it, who witnessed the signature, and when and where the item was signed. All signatures are original and genuine. There is no purchase of a raffle ticket or any monetary donation required. We do, however, ask that you write ONE letter to one of the many addresses we have listed at the website to support a Forever Knight television movie, release of more Forever Knight soundtrack cassette tapes and CDs, and licensing and production of more Forever Knight video tapes, novels and other tie-in books. The letter you wrote last week, last month, or even yesterday does NOT count. PLEASE honor the spirit in which these raffles are held - write your qualifying letter and drop an email note to Rae Plachecki (Javiette@a.......), telling her who you wrote to and when, and what affiliation you are, if any. The future of these raffles is in your hands. Use the raffle website entry form to enter http://members.aol.com/fkshirt/fkshirt.htm or send an e-mail to fkshirt@a....... and include 1.Your real name 2.Your snail address 3.Your e-mail address ONLY ONE ENTRY PER PERSON! In addition to writing a letter, if you haven't done so already, please take the time to visit http://www.fortunecity.com/lavender/casablanca/433/index.html to e-sign a petition to have FK released on professional tapes and or DVD! At 11:59 PM, on Friday, April 14th, all e-mail entries will be dumped into a bag, shuffled, and one name will be drawn. The winner will be notified on Saturday, April 15th and will be asked if their name and city/state may be posted. The prize will be mailed priority rate within 2 -3 days. After the winners have been drawn, the contest entries are destroyed. None of these names or addresses will be kept or compiled for any sort of listing. Names and snail-mail addresses are asked as a security measure (and to assist me in quickly mailing out the raffle prize). THEY ARE NOT GIVEN TO ANYONE. EVER. This raffle will be advertised on the ForKni-L list, the Forever Knight newsgroup, the AOL Forever Knight Board, and the SciFi Channel Dominion Forever Knight bulletin board. susang@v....... -- http://www.vitinc.com/~susang EVER Faithful Ravenette. http://www.geocities.com/Vienna/2167/fiction.htm "Friends help you move. With an announcement list only designated people can post so there is very, very light traffic. I really hate to sound like a wet blanket. I'm one of FK's biggest supporters. People who have been around a while and know me, know that. Back in 1995/96 when we were having the big push to save FK and get the last half of the third season, I must have written around 200 letters to TPTB. I folded 500 origami wishing cranes for a project to be sent to TPTB. I sent holiday cards and postcards. I still do, occasionally. I have created and maintained an extensive website devoted to the love of Forever Knight. I write fan fiction. I *LOVE* the show. I also have nothing against the people who want to vote at these polls and booths. It can be fun, whether or not you believe it's any real help. All I question is do we have to be subjected to it on a daily basis? Can't the people who want to vote *bookmark* the site? Isn't a reminder once or twice a week sufficient? I know I'm not the only one that feels this way. Private mail I've received has confirmed this. Think about these sites. How often can an individual vote? Hourly? Daily? I can't see where these popularity polls show anything more than that a particular show has more *persistent* fans than another. It doesn't show the true number of the fan base involved. Maybe all this voting *will* help to bring back FK eventually. I don't personally believe that, but I'd be more than willing to be pleasantly surprised. By all means, if you enjoy doing so, go vote. It can't hurt. But *please* recognize the fact that there are a good number of us who, while we still love the show dearly, get tired of being pestered by the same reminder posts every day. There is WAY too many on this list to post individually on a loop. I seem to be helping quite a few vote too. And guess what?? It's #4 now! :) It wasn't this morning, but after everyone votes "daily" it helps. I also don't post the same thing everyday. The reminder also tells you what position it is in. And this isn't permanent, just for a while till FK climbs back again. It's up to Mclisa and the people if I post these or not. Many are being helped by this while a few maybe seem annoyed by one message. It's just "one" reminder daily to help those in need of it to remember to vote and even go directly. And it isn't doing harm from what I can tell, rather good. Those who dislike this just delete then. So if Mclisa doesn't mind may I continue to help those who like these reminders? I have a question to be used for possible FanFic regarding the Church in season 1 ep "For I Have Sinned" and a few related things: #1--I know that in season 3 GVP ep the church was named St. John's Church/The Church of St. John, but do not recall that the name of the Church was ever mentioned in FIHS--but they were definitely 2 separate churches. I'm assuming--from how things looked in FIHS, that the church was a REAL church, not a "set" built for FK filming purposes--so can anyone who is familiar with TO tell me what the name of the church is that was used, and it looked as if it was "in the city"--is it in RL? {{{This is asking a lot, but does anyone know the RL street name, too?}}} #2--at some Catholic Churches here in the US, some of them may be permitted to have the Mass said in Latin--for instance, in Philadelphia, PA, our Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul has Mass in Latin--either once every Sunday or one Sunday each month--not sure which it is, in addition to Masses on weekends and daily during the week in English. Is this the case in some Canadian churches?--[I'm assuming, for FK, that Nick and Vachon would have both been Catholic and, in their mortal lives, the Mass would have been celebrated in Latin, whereas, in present times--generally the Catholic Mass is celebrated in the language of the people of the area, but there are some Masses that are celebrated in Latin.] a)--in some US Catholic Churches, if there are a lot of parishioners who speak a language other than and/or in addition to English, their parish church may have some Masses in English and some Masses in the other language, e.g. Spanish, Polish, Vietnamese. In Canada, is the generally accepted practice--and in TO in particular--to have some Masses in the same church to be some regularly celebrated in English and some in French? b)--in Canada, like in the US, do you have a "Vigil Mass" on Saturday nights and the evening before a Holy Day that will "fulfill your obligation",i.e. 'count' for your Sunday Mass and Holy Day Mass? #3--I understand that in some countries, churches used to be unlocked, but here in the US it is no longer--generally, I assume--the case--church doors are locked.--I knew a lady some years ago from Brazil, and she had told me that there the churches were --at least I think when she lived there-- unlocked, but she noted that in the US they would be locked. What's the situation in Canada? [I assume that here there is the fear of vandalism and/or theft and/or desecration of the Church, holy items, and particularly the Blessed Sacrament.--It may be different in other parts of the US, but I'm from Philly and live in a nearby middle class suburb, and that's the case here, except for maybe chapels, within or near the main church, which MAY be unlocked during the day and possibly during part or all of the evening--sometimes on special occasions, like Holy Thursday and Good Friday--whereas the 'main church' would be locked when Masses and special ceremonies, prayer meetings, etc. are not taking place.] #4--finally *g*--how do you spell the name of that kind young priest in FIHS ep? Thank you! --{{{and, to our Canadian listmembers, please forgive my ignorance of your customs--and please take it as acompliment that I wish to "get it right" and am willing to ask so I'm accurate.}}} ~~Angel a.k.a. Subject: Re: "For I Have Sinned" Ep-Related Questions Hi, I usually just lurk, but I find I actually can answer one of the questions asked about why churches are locked in the US. I have been a police officer in a major urban area for over 13 years. In that time, unfortunately, I have seen the desecration of more than one church. Not necessairly all Catholic. Churches commonly keep articles that if they are not actually gold or jeweled, look like they are. It is mostly kids that break in and graffitti up churches and schools however, once in a while a thief will go in looking for gold crucafixes, chalices and whatever else of value might be inside. In only one incident of many, were the offenders bona-fide devil worshippers. Right down to the inverted crosses tattooed on their chests. They broke into one of the larger churches and were only interested in religeous articles and statuary. Maybe it was all that Catholic education I survived, but these guys actually gave me the willies cause they were totally serious about what they were doing. They confessed that they had taken the items in order to set up an altar for their black mass!!!! More than a few of us were VERY uncomfortable with the whole thing. Hope that answers your question. From Vancouver: > accepted practice--and in TO in particular--to have some >Masses in the same church to be some regularly celebrated > in English and some in French? I haven't attended mass in TO so I can't say with 100% certainty, for the rest of Canada: Other than Quebec, some of New Brunswick and a few scattered towns Canada is pretty anglophone. Most parishes just use English, but a "Language group, ie. Portugues" RC curch would have masses in both. So it may occur but I'd think that that would more common in cities of Quebec. TO is a very anglophone city. Certainly a French Cdn. Parish (possibly attached to a school) would likely have mass in both languages. > b)--in Canada, like in the US, do you have a "Vigil > Mass" on Saturday nights and the evening before a Holy > Day that will "fulfill your > obligation",i.e. 'count' for your Sunday Mass and Holy > Day Mass? We have an Easter Vigil but I don't think it counts for Sunday mass, at least my family always went the next day - or maybe it was just me becuase I was an altar server.. hmm maybe you are right my mom won't often go both. RC customs around the world should be pretty even across the board tho. > #3--I understand that in some countries, churches used to > be unlocked, What's the > situation in Canada? Small town churches are still unlocked, the chapels at the University I attend are always unlocked (3 or 4th largest in Canada). Cathedrals & cathedral-like churches in downtowns are open (at least for the daytime). My home parish in the 'burbs is locked tho. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 18 Mar 2000 08:57:26 -0600 From: Carla Martinek <copper6500@y.......> Subject: Re: Faction Challenge "Stephanie S. If any of you are just interested in the Faction Challenge Charity Drive, skip everything else and see my sig line. I originally "grabbed" the listname over there just in case THIS list (@l.......) wanted or needed to move. McLisa and Don know it's there if we ever want/need to use it, but for now, it's open to anything. I DO NOT want people to drop this list and move over there, but you may want to subscribe to it as a companion to this list, and take advantage of some of onelist's features, such as: * Calendar - post FK alum alerts and member's birthdays (and be sure to set Alum Alerts to send a reminder before the event!!!) There's already a couple of things posted over there... you'll have to stop in and see for yourself! * Chat Room - an online chat that's always available * Links - put your favorite FK links/URLs here for everyone else to see. Great way to promote your own page. * Database - can be used for lot of things... Kickstart the Knight contact/mail info comes to mind as one thing. The list -- for now -- can also be used if something needs to be taken offlist from here, but people still want to discuss it. Currently, there are no restrictions or requirements on postings, (anything goes) but if I feel that someone is abusing the list, I reserve the right to implement whatever is necessary. You can set yourself to NO MAIL/Web Only and still take advantage of all the other features. ************************************************ Carla -- copper6500@y....... /// If you do online buying and selling, sign up for PayPal and get $5 FREE! /// Use the link below and I will also receive $5. /// Any bonuses that I receive from FK fans signing up will be donated to the Pediatric Aids Foundation in the name of FK Fans, and you may specify which Faction will get the credit. /// https://secure.paypal.com/refer/pal=copper6500%40yahoo.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 19 Mar 2000 09:47:39 -0800 From: Rayne <rayne_koest@y.......> Subject: Re: Your Daily Vote & FK's Position Hi guys, I just have to add that I think Nancy has made a good point. If you are serious about voting then try and make it a habit ( like brushing teeth). If you need help reminding yourself make a list of where you vote and stick it on your monitor with a piece of tape (works with me). I'm sure that bi weekely or weekly reminders would work as well. Frankly I think that TPTB will do little on the basis of internet charts. Be logical folks. They not going to make the effort unless they get some "____" good NON internet reason to resurrect it. They know that net results may be unreliabe or may too easily skewed by religiouisly voting monopolized by die hards. What I hope for( at best) is more reruns.
