In honor of St. Patrick's Day, this month's prize is a green Heineken

1998.

You are eligible to enter to win this item if you did
                                     NOT
attend the following cons or events:

* Lights, Camera, Auction (October 1999)

Please note that ALL raffle items are accompanied by a certificate of

witnessed the signature, and when and where the item was signed. All
signatures are original and genuine.

There is no purchase of a raffle ticket or any monetary donation required.
We do, however, ask that you write ONE letter to one of the many addresses
we have listed below, to support a Forever Knight television movie, release
of more Forever Knight soundtrack cassette tapes and CDs, and licensing and
production of more Forever Knight video tapes, novels and other tie-in books.

The letter you wrote last week, last month, or even yesterday does NOT
count. PLEASE honor the spirit in which these raffles are held - write your
qualifying letter and drop an email note to Rae Plachecki
(Javiette@a.......), telling her who you wrote to and when, and what

or send an e-mail to fkshirt@a....... and include

1.Your real name

to e-sign a petition to have FK released on professional tapes and or DVD!

At 11:59 PM, on Friday, March 17th, all e-mail entries will be dumped into
a bag, shuffled, and one name will be drawn. The winner will be notified on
Saturday, March 18th and will be asked if their name and city/state may be
posted. The prize will be mailed priority rate within 2 -3 days.

After the winners have been drawn, the contest entries are destroyed. None
of these names or addresses will be kept or compiled for any sort of
listing. Names and snail-mail addresses are asked as a security measure
(and to assist me in quickly mailing out the raffle prize). THEY ARE NOT
GIVEN TO ANYONE. EVER.

This raffle will be advertised on the ForKni-L list, the Forever Knight

Subject: Remember the writers

Dear fellow FK lovers,

Of late I've noticed a significant slowing of traffic on this list, probably
due in part to the fact that FK is not currently showing in the US
(grumble, grumble). I've also noticed a drop in new fiction on the FKFIC-L.
Efforts are being made to return the extant episodes of FK to broadcast in
the US, and even to put the show back into production. We have to make sure
there's a reason for these things to happen, we have to contribute to the
health of the fandom.

I want to remind everyone how precious those authors are whom we still have.
I have written a little in the FK fandom, but have been blocked and
uninspired for quite some time. Therefore I have tremendous respect for
those folks who are able to concieve of a story idea, put in the nitty-gritty
work of fleshing it out, and stick with it to posting. Please remember to
acknowledge these folks when you read a story that you enjoy. Take a moment
to reply, tell them that you liked it, and *what* you liked about it. These
authors get no payment but the satisfaction of creating, and our
appreciation. Lets make sure they get paid.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 1999 FK Fan Fiction Awards have been moved to www.fkfanfic.com
and are now being handled by Mel Moser, with the gracious permission
of Susan Garrett. Most of the rules and procedures from previous FK

And now...

The FK Fan Fiction Awards Mini-FAQ

******************************************************

The Process:

Everyone wishing to nominate/vote will be need to apply for and will
be assigned a Voter Id. The Voter Id Application Form can be
found at http://www.fkfanfic.com/awards/voteidmail.htm

Nominations will be accepted for a voting ballot. You will be able to
nominate as many items as you would like, 1 nomination per item, please.

(This means that you can nominate twenty different stories NOT the same
story twenty times.)

After the nominating deadline, all nominations will be collected and
categories and divisions assigned. The authors of the top six entries in
each division will be contacted and asked if they wish to participate in
the awards. Authors wishing to remain on the ballot MUST reply before the
preliminary ballot deadline--if an author does not apply, they will be
removed from the ballot. Any author who wishes a work to be removed from
the ballot should send an e-mail requesting its removal. Only authors
wishing to remain on the ballot will have their works appear on the final
voting ballot.

NOTE--Any work that appears on the final ballot MUST be available for the
voting public to read and review. This means that the author will be
requested to allow either a link to the nominated work or a copy of the
nominated work to be available from the voting website. This will allow
voters to read all of the works nominated on the final ballot and make an
informed decision. After the results have been awarded, individual items
and links will be removed as per the author's request. NO WORK WILL BE
INCLUDED ON THE FINAL BALLOT IF IT CANNOT BE LINKED TO OR
HOUSED AT THE VOTING WEBSITE DURING THE VOTING PERIOD.

The final voting ballot will be available on the voting web page and will
also be posted to ForKni-L (with the listowner's permission). Wide
dissemination of the ballot AND the rules will be encouraged. Votes will be
placed for one nominee in each category during a designated period. Awards
will be given to the nominee with the most votes in their category and
division--ties will be possible and will be honored as such.

When my parents bought their first car, in July 1970, they had to keep a
record of all mileage, etc., for reimbursement purposes. Since that car is
still in the family (my husband and I own it, most joyfully), and the
record book is, too, I can tell you that its first tank of gas cost 29.9
cents/gallon on July 20, 1970 (in Northern Virginia).

My mother remembers driving through Texas (probably in the 40s, possibly in
the 50s) and seeing gas for sale at 9.9 cents/gallon--if it had been any
cheaper, they would have had to pay drivers to haul it away.

No wonder Nick wasn't worried about fuel efficiency when he bought the Caddy!

for historical commentary and discussion.

I agree whole-heartedly! I try to write feedback when I can, but I often
get sidetracked or I don't have time to read everything, let alone write
replies :) I realize this is a common problem, but if you find that you
have a spare moment, write some feedback! Writing a story is tough (I know
first-hand) and I think that we should stand and recognize all the wonderful
writers we have. I encourage everyone to participate in the 1999 Fanfiction
awards, especially since the turnout last year was so low they actually
considered not having them this year, and give your support to everyone
who's spent the time and effort writing for the FK fandom (I've already
started nominating like crazy :).

sheesh! It takes $40 plus to fill my truck every week! (So. Calif.)

Hmm..., on topic, on topic... *scratches chin* Ahh, hah!

What effect do you think region would have on the price of a bottle of
the finest bloodwine? None of the cheap stuff now, only the best. The
kind LaCroix himself would choose.
