Oh yeah! I forgot about his Pit! :) Were they all blonde or am I just
remembering things wrong? I seem to recall a whole bevy of women who looked
like a cross between Alyssa and that Wine and Honey girl. Not that blondes
are bimbos! Some of my best friends are blondes!

Anyway, yeah, this was one helluva creepy scene. I liked it. Perhaps the
ability to sip versus the compelling desire to drain dry has to do with the
placement of the bites? Does it show where he bites the Bimbos? Wrist?
Neck? Toe?

think that LaCroix would be pleased that Nick was at least dining on

I haven't seen all the FK episodes and I'm wondering if LaCroix is the oldest
vampire we see or hear of in the show (besides Divia and her maker). Also,
if there are vampire characters that we know are *old*, say at least 1000
years. (Hmm, I hope Janette doesn't catch that comment.)

I can only think of Thomas, from "Faithful Followers", who is about 1600
years old in the 1920s. But my brain has been squeezed like a sponge by RL,
and like I said, I haven't seen all of the episodes.

This is for a piece of fiction and I'd appreciate whatever information anyone
can dig up.

Also, someone a while back, posted a query for story ideas. Sometimes
I'll get an idea for a story from reading an article. For example, the
frozen spermatogonial stem cell article in "Time" magazine explained the
pregnant Natalie in "Another Life". Or I'll write something because I'll
wonder what a character would do in a certain situation. One thing I
would suggest is that once you have an idea, maybe talk it over with
another person. Many a time I've had some vague, totally off the wall
thought and by talking to another person, it becomes more defined and
helps me in the planning process. Hopes this helps!

Recently several people have needed help with their subscriptions and not
gotten it in a timely fashion because they didn't know where to go to get

myself.

My name is Don Fasig and I'm the guy who sets you NOMAIL when your mailbox
is full or your server down (or whatever is causing your mail to bounce).
And sometimes I even delete you from the list (if your server tells me it
doesn't know who you are).

I'm also the one (along with Jamie) who can help you with your
subscription if you are having problems (ie you are getting double posts,
getting no posts, can't post, need to change your settings, etc).

The best way to get my attention quickly is to send me a message with the
word "help" somewhere in the subject line. I've set my mailer to put such
messages in a special folder that I check before anything else.

Please don't hesitate to drop me a line, I'm more than happy to help.

Uh-uh....no....he did not call her to chortle over anything. He called her
because he felt good, for the first time in almost 800 years he felt good
and he wanted to share it with the one person that means the most to him. He
wanted to talk to her about it because it seemed he was cured, he wanted her
opinion, her output, her excitement.

Nick may have failings (and even I admit he does) but he has never tried to
hurt Nat that way, he's not mean that way.

Because the whole point of it was for Marion to remove the killer from Nick,
the part of him he is always trying to control, the part that comes to the
surface when he loses control. Once she took it from him he would have been
able to with Nat, but she defintely didn't appear to want to believe him

Yep. I agree. We know he must have said it to her at some time offscreen
during BMV (she tells LaCroix that he said "beautiful things" to her so I
assume one of them must have been that) but he never seems able to wrap his
mouth around that word after that. Not that I blame him beause of the
situation with LaCroix, and his own pretty bad track record with women he's
said it to.

>I think this very deep feeling for her is why he can't bring her

Yep again. He puts her on this ridiculous pedestal...which is frustrating to
both of them but again in BMV, LaCroix was able to believe he didn't love
Nat because even HE knows how Nick feels about human life and particularly
one he loves.

As for why he didn't do it in the fix, as pointed out by Susan Garrett (big
wave) he does get to be a bit self-indulgent and a little selfish now and
again....(I love him anyway!!) and he just didn't get around to it before it
went out of control...

Nick and Nat - Nat and Nick. Why Not??? It would ruin the sexual tension
that exists between them. The "chase" it inself can be far more passionate
than the act itself. The unspoken things that rise in the air between them
is what keeps all of us sitting on the edge of our seats. Been there - done
that. The conquest is what fills my fantasies. The conquered is just a
memory left behind. The conquest is ever present. The conquered, fading
gradually until....

Does anyone out there remember Remmington Steele. I for one like the show
much better before they DID IT! I wonder what would have really happened to
FOREVER KNIGHT had Nick and Nat DONE IT. Of course, we will never know in
as much as the small minded powers that be decided to pull the plug. But
they have their own punishment. They are condemned to a life where no
fantasy exists. Pity.

Ahm, actually Nat has never said that blood-drinking is evil that I
can recall. What she has said several times is that it's the blood
that keeps Nick from coming back across. She may be mistaken in this
idea, but it makes sense in the vampirism-as-substance abuse paradigm
with which she's working.

This talk about blood flow and draining reminds me of a comment Pat
Elrod made at Syndi-Con East about the book she's writing with Nigel.
It seems they considered doing a scene in which the vampire bites on
the thigh. The idea was abandoned after research. It seems the blood
is under high pressure at this point and the effect would be like
trying to drink from a fire hose. (I think this was exactly how she
phrased it.)

The ambulance will often pick up the body. It is called a code 4
transport here in Fairfax. We deliver the body to the hospital morgue.
We bag 'em in a black body bag and put 'em on the stretcher with a sheet

I had my first DOA code 4 transport on Christmas Day in 1992. A dispatcher

is that long enough space.
did nick do the dirty deed or not?
that is the question.
I think that because marion was different, ie a shaman, that might have
given her special protection. yes in the end, that protection broke down,
but as in all earth religions, she was supose to cast out the bad spirit
into something else, not kept it inside.
because of the special powers and the dreamwalk, she was able to protect
herself from biting. and the sex that she shared with nick was an
manifistation of that dreamwalk.

making love to someone you really care for, simply because you could do
it do a shaman, would make me afraid. i know that. nat didn't have the
kind of protections that marion had, and frankly, i think nick was
terrified he'd kill her. remember he lived in the time of courtly love,
so his 'hands off' approch might be something he is used to. yes, he
loves nat, but for both thier sakes, he'll keep his hands off of her.

oh btw. i think nat and nick did have sex during the fix. that would
explain why she got so upset when he went back to his vampire ways.
becuase she would loose a good thing

Well in the literal sense, Nick was sipping from these women, *but* he
had every intention of killing them eventually and was just delaying the
moment to increase his pleasure of the experience. This intent is very
different from sipping in order to *perserve* a mortal's life; to keep
from killing them. Other vampires may be able to do this - to sip then
walk away permanently and let the mortal live - but I really don't think
Nick is one of them (And I believe Lacroix's influence has a lot to do
with this.)

I came across a library book with a title taken from Shaw's <Major Barbara>:
"The greatest of evils and the worst of crimes is poverty." The book is <The
Greatest of Evils> by Joel A. Devine and James D. Wright. The spine of the
book therefore reads:
The Greatest of Evils Devine Wright
Get it? Dieu et mon droit.

ObFK: I can't think of one. Oh, alright. Um...Nick's arrogant sense of
entitlement befits his background as nobility. A gross generalization, I
know. Who was it said (approximately), "It is preferable to be well
descended, but the glory belongs to our ancestors." ?

Would that really be gone just because they were together? I can think of at
least one show that managed to keep the tension alive after the two main
charecters got together, Silk Stalkings, of course they did kill off one of
the leads about 5 shows after that :)

They Never DID IT on Remington Steele. The Series was canceled before that,
as a matter of fact the last show ended right when Steele was carrying Laura
up to his bedroom.

The actual URL for my FK Fan Fiction site is listed in my sig below.
(ha! you'll have to read this entire message first). The address listed
above is my personal home page, but there is a link there that will
take you to my FK fiction page.

If you're missing stories or pieces of stories, you may want to check
my site first to see if I have them there. I have been updating my
site about once a week with the latest stories from FKFIC-L. New items
get posted to the "Hot off the List" page first, the other pages get
updated semi-regularly.

I only started adding stories here in about mid-April. There are a number
of stories I am missing that have been posted during the past couple of
months. This is either because chapters of the story were posted before
I subscribed to FKFIC-L or because my mail server was down and I did not
get certain stories and/or chapters. I've been meaning to draft up
a list of stories that I know I'm missing, but haven't quite had the
time. A few that I know about, but do not have in their entirety are:
"Broken Promises", "Forbidden Love", "The Hunted", "Forever Cursed",
"Knight Confessions", "Cats Eyes". I know there are more. I'd very
much like to add the missing stories to my Web site! If you've been
by my site and could not to find a story that you or someone else has
written since April, could you please let me know via private email?

I recently updated the Fan Fiction by Topic and By Author pages, as
well as added the Fan Fiction by Faction page which is a rather
interesting way of categorizing the stories. Thanks to a wonderful
suggestion made by a visitor, I now also list the file size of each story.

Upcoming:
Now that the ftp site is back up, one of my next major projects is
add Web pages with links to the stories archived on the ftp site.
This may become more critical and urgent very shortly, as I do
not have unlimited disk space on my ISP's server and have quite
a collection of files there already.

Also in the near future will be a Web page for Susan Garrett's Birthday
Challenge stories as well as an Forever Knight FAQ page for organizing
all the FK Frequently Asked Questions documents.

As always, if you have any questions, problems, or comments regarding
my fan fiction site, please drop me a line. (Or if you're just feeling
lonely, because I always write back).

Feel free to stop by, browse, and sit down and read for a while. I
may not have any cappucino, but I can point you to a few virtual
coffee shops or vending machines on the Web at least.

Thanks for your time and attention,
Mel

P.S. My site is also accessiable via anonymous ftp:
                ftp.clark.net, /pub/moser/fk directory.

The only time we've seen a vampire sip and not eventually kill was Janette,
in Human Factor, and that was an extraordinary situation, not even understood
by Janette. When she first indicated that she had "been with" Robert, Nick
took that to mean she'd made love to him, and wondered how she'd been able
to do that, meaning, I'm pretty sure, how had she been able to do that
without killing him?

Despite some backsliding, Nick has shown an enormous amount of control.
If it were generally possible for vampires to sip and not kill, I think
Nick, of all people, would have developed that control also.

Michael Wayne Jackson has a very good point - what kind of a transformation
did Nick undergo?

Why hasn't Nat thought that?

Maybe if there was too much of a transformation the "return trip" isn't
possible.

I have a feeling that vampires are kinda like a sponge, but they also do have
stomachs (where would the wine and french fry, or pasta go). The sponge part
would be because their diet is liquid. They have lungs and hearts because
they breathe and have a heartbeat (if you can call 6 beats an hour a
heartbeat).

I do have to disagree there. Several other people seem to think she did. I
believe she did when she was "sensing" him.
