Is it not true that Cousin Will totally deserves the Ultimate Completist title? ;^) I also believe that Will goes *way beyond* Perky. The Philly Carpool had a discussion about this and decided to dub him Irrepressible Will. Heh, heh! Anyway, Will said: > Many congratulations are in order, for managing to successfully bring your > car, which I now dub the Mary Celeste II :-), to Toronto, in spite of > countless automotive problems. Ah yes, the Voyage of the Damned... We still love that car, though. And the Mary Celeste probably isn't the best comparison -- after all, the Mary Celeste was *found* but all her crew and passengers were missing. The Knight Mobile (as we fondly call Quinn's car) was abandoned to the care of a bemused, helpful Canadian mechanic in Oakville. All passengers and crew made their way safe and sound to Toronto despite enormous odds! I also just realized that if I were Canadian, I would have been the "Semi-Organiser" of the Shrewthering (with an "s") instead of the "Semi-Organizer" (with a "z"). Gotta love those spelling differences!! <g> BTW, the FK filming locations list even got kudos from the Metro Toronto Convention and Visitor's Association. Did you know there's an FK fan in their office?!? And Will... don't be mad at Ger for leaving Canada. After all, Wales didn't get mad at Canada for stealing him in the first place. Although I doubt that Wales realized his potential at the tender age of 7. ;^) I had a great time in Toronto during the Shrewthering. So many people contributed their time, effort, and goodwill to the event. And now all the Shrewtherers can amuse themselves trying to spot the Taming actors in Canadian movies and TV shows. Just noticed David Ferry (who played the "La Cage Aux Folles" version of Gremio on Friday night) in "Hush Little Baby" the other day! That guy is a regular chameleon. Anyone interested in reading something about GWD et al. in "Taming of the Shrew" can still go to the Shrewthering Page at: http://assets.wharton.upenn.edu/~percy91/shrew.html This page still pops up as the first hit when you do an Infoseek web search on "Taming of the Shrew". Yikes! Luckily Alta Vista' search engine has a little more sense and puts it 93rd in the list of hits. ;^) If you click on the link for Marg Yamanaka's "Welcome to Toronto" under Links & Information, you'll find an incredible wealth of information for visitors to that city -- including the now-famous FK filming locations list. :^) (In case anyone was wondering, Marg is a font of useful info for visitors to her fair city!) ObFK: We know Nick tried acting for a while (flashbacks from "Last Act"). Do you think Nick could do comedy?? If so, what type of comedy??? I know this is a weird question -- we know *Ger* can do comedy and also play angst as if he invented the word. The question is, can a truly angst-ridden individual like Nick play comedy? :^) Allison "Shrew'd" Percy percy91@w....... ========================================================================= Date: Thu, 13 Jun 1996 14:50:27 -0400 From: TJ Goldstein <vanguard@p.......> Subject: Re: The Hunter > To begin with, I've read that there is an episode with a vampire hunter, > and that this "hunter" became so because he was cured after being > bitten. Unfortunately, I haven't seen that one yet (one of 8 episodes I'm missing yet). However, I could think of a couple of comedies that Nick could do. I think Breckt wrote them but they were called: An Act Without Words Part I and Part II. In one of them, there are only 2 characters - one is a very perky character (perfect for Tracy!) and the other is a very, angsty character (perfect for Nick!) There's another play that would be good for both Nick and LC, called King Ubu. It's a farce from the Comedia Del Arte time. LC would play the role of King Ubu, this character who wants to rule Poland. When we did this play at ASU, King Ubu's septer was a toilet bowel brush and the toilet, of course, was his throne. <our director has a warped sense of humour> Nick would play the soldier under Ubu (sorry, brain is still on vacation - can't remember the strange name of the soldier) who defects to support the Russian Czar. If I remember correctly, he winds up in jail anyway. Ok, now for the YKYBWTMFKW . . . While in New Orleans, we were walking back from the French Market. We were going to cross Decatur St. at St. Phillip, and there is a small cafe across the street that sells bagels, etc. Before we crossed I glanced up at the window of the cafe and could have sworn it said "Schankes" but as we got closer, I found it said "Shakes." YES! I rewound and rewatched that scene dozens of times. That triumphant side of Nick is something we see so rarely, and GWD plays it for all it's worth (Disney-ending kind of guy, after all?). I think he likes to see Nick win, too. (Taking cover as Dark Knighties throw things). Other personal favorites: in QoH when he buys the harp and donates it to the museum (look of triumph appears as Schanke is rattling on "clewlessly" about said purchase and giving Nat arrythmia); in FW when he's looking oh-so-innocent as he describes busting the falsely convicted musician out of jail; I'm sure there's more, but the synapses are slow today... On another note: I've noticed that there's another Stephanie on the list now. To avoid confusion, I should like to be known (and quoted, where applicable) as Stephanie B. I have never joined a fanclub before. I have never travel out of the country to meet and get to people who share the same love of one show at its myriad facets. I stupifies my friends. Frankly, it stupified me until I began to think along these same lines. It's not one thing, GWD aside <g>, it's many things, when taken together and kept in perspective, make this show extraordinary.
