No quote list, nothing really noteworthy, just a good time with faction food (I'd never heard of faction food before - is it just me?) and lots of tape watching. I was pleased to be able to meet Lindy Cooksey and Kim Bjarkman who will be joining the MidKnighters carpool with me for the Toronto/Shrew trip! We did come up with a new recipe that we'd like to share! I supplied the group with my own version of Blood/Blood Lite, and Cousin Wendy added an ingredient to the latter, coming up with... BLOOD SURPRISE 2 cups cranberry juice cocktail 1 cup orange juice 1/2 cup grape juice 1 cup ginger ale Splash of Ribena added at the last DO NOT SHAKE OR STIR (Note, this is based on my personal preferences for the amounts of ingredients.) The Surprise comes in because the Ribena, being so much denser, sinks to the bottom. By the time you reach the bottom of your glass, especially if you have the non-Lite version with vodka instead of ginger ale, you've forgotten about the Ribena, so the last swallow comes as quite a surprise! I think we should respond to "USA Today" about this. This is the letter I sent: The pilot television show, "I, Werewolf", about a man who fights crime during the full moon, was reported in "USA Today" as a knockoff of "The X-Files". It sounds more like a knockoff of "Forever Knight". "Forever Knight" is about a detective in Toronto, Nick Knight, who is a vampire seeking redemption. "Forever Knight" is a wonderful show. It's artistic, entertaining, and thought-provoking. Unfortunately, it never received the attention or critical acclaim it deserved. I wasn't sure whether I should send this to USA Today's Letters to the Editor column, or whether I should send it to the person who wrote the article. I finally decided to send it to both. No one is going to pay attention to one letter, but if the Letters to the Editor's column receives 20 or 100 letters on the same subject, there's a good chance they'll publish one. And if someone at the newspaper receives lots of letters about "Forever Knight", perhaps someone will think it's a good idea to follow-up and find out more about the show. So, please write! We might get some response in this case, because we'll be commenting on something they already wrote about. I don't think we want to focus on fan efforts to save the show for these letters. Why are Nick and Nat soul mates, why should they be together?----hmmm good question!!! Well, other than the fact that I, hopeless romantic that I am, think that anyone who falls in love should have the opportunity to be together I think there are several threads that hold them together. 1) They both have demons in their past which affect the way they operate today. It's very difficult for someone who doesn't share this kind of thing to understand and deal with it. 2) They both have a strong need to do good, to help and make things better. We know Nick's reasons, I'm not sure we know Nat's for sure, but they both share that basic instinct. 3) They are both stubborn and sometimes plow into things without totally thinking them thru-just because they feel it will ultimately help. 4) They love each other. 5) They fit real nice. If he said 'no', would he have been upset if she did it anyway?" Ofcourse she would have brought him across and oh yea he'd be pretty pissed about it. But I think the idea could be, "well you found mortality once you can find it again!!" I know this probably seems a bit stupid to be posting this, but I never claimed to be a genius. I was reading through my digests from yesterday when I came across two messages which just plain irked me. In fact, I almost uttered a bewildered "What?!?" in the middle of archaeology (pay attention? how do you do that?). One post related to sigs. Besides insinuating that college kids don't change their underwear (what do you think we are?), it also suggested changing sigs often. I thought the whole purpose of a sig was to have something recognizable after your name every time. I agree that they shouldn't be like 10 lines or something, but I think the limit is like 4 anyway, so why not? And as a self-confessed smiley face addict, I don't see anything wrong with that either...oh excuse me, maybe we're not supposed to be friendly on this impersonal information superhighway. Call me old-fashioned. The other was about pins for Cousins, which I won't get into because I'm not a Cousin anyway. I'll just say that it seemed a bit brutal. Maybe I just don't have an adequate sense of humor, but it seemed like these were rather lofty, "I disapprove of all you lower life-forms" posts. As far as I know, we're all friends and equals here. Thanks for letting me vent, I really needed to get it out of my system. ObFK-I'm going to try to bring several people on my dorm hall across by (hopefully) getting them to watch "Dark Knight" as a part of our bi-weekly movie night. Wish me luck that they won't think I'm insane. Of course, I found out this weekend that I actually like Ribena (the liquid equivalent of Giant Pixy Stix), so my sanity may already be gone. Last night, whn I was getting no further e-mail and my server was being a pain anyway, I decided to do something oddly me, with an FK basis. Taking the soundtrack to the original _Highlander_ movie("A Kind of Magic", Queen), I decided who each song would go to. In other words, I spent 50 minutes getting this: Track 1: "One Vision": Nick. If it hadn't been quite as upbeat, though, I'd say Uncle. Track 2: "A Kind of Magic": Nick. Track 3: "One Year of Love": Nick&Nat, as the title implies. Track 4: "Pain is So Close to Pleasure": Toughie here. The words are 100% Nightcrawler, but the music is more Tracy&Vachon, maybe a teenage Don&Myra. Track 5: "Friends Will Be Friends": Nat, with the occasional dash of Janette. Track 6: "Who Wants to Live Forever?": Nick&Nat. Note: Even if you hate Queen, get the album only for this song. It is *phenomenal*. Track 7: "Gimme the Prize": LaCroix, in a violent mood. Track 8: "Don't Lose your Head": LaCroix vs. Nick. The 800-year Battle theme song. Track 9: "Princes of the Universe": Uncle's view on vampyrism absolute. Arrogant, powerful, and well-justified on both counts. Good, GOOD song. Track 10 (CD(?) bonuses from here on): "Forever": Nick&Nat. This is a (somewhat altered) instrumental of "Who Wants to Live Forever?". Much darker than the original (I swear, it is), but still with the tinge of hope. Track 11: "One Vision (extended version)": Again, Nick. Hmmmmm... album challenge, anyone?
