I've got parts 1-4 up on the web page listed below; but I would be tickled pink if there was some generous and giving soul that felt like forwarding old segments to people for me? At least, until I get around to deleting and reinstalling my server software -- an obnoxious task that I've been procrastinating on for ages... Here's hoping that some stray guardian angel of fiction will step forward and lend a hand (pretty please?); and while I'm on the subject, thanks to EVERYONE who's written to me about this; I'm glad that there are people out there who're as intrigued and bemused by it as I am. Ranma's always complaining about this, that, hot water, cold water... (Ranma 1/2) Uncle: Ranma's dad. You know, the panda who's always trying to put his son/daughter back in line... Nat: Eiko (yes, that's how it's spelled). Strong, tends to complain a bit, wants her own way. (Project A-Ko) Janette: Biko (B-Ko). Doesn't get a long with Eiko too well, strong, smart, is more than she appears to be... Tracy: Shiko (C-Ko). Blonde, no brains, parents have lots of power. Vachon: Uhhhhh... Tawasaki? I forget his name. You know, the Blue Lightning kid who loves one half of Ranma and hates the other... Schanke: Any goofy guy who loves to eat. Pick your favorite. Alternate Janette: Alita. She was taken from destruction, and reborn as a powerful being, no longer completely human. (Battle Angel) Screed: D. The big, cool alien woman bodyguard (she looks like a guy). Season two, although containing episodes I liked, was never the same after the Raven had to be exchanged for a sound stage and they started scrimping on extras (the human on-camera kind) everywhere except in the police station. When we started the second season, it seemed to me like going from color to black and white. In fact the palate did get darker, but I mean the psychological effect. As for the third season, the first half was like going to black and white line drawings from photographs. The 3rd season so far is more like being back to black and white photograph, but varying widely in picture quality. There are flashes of color now and then, as there were in the second season. However, in the sense of building a complete world into which I can mentally enter and move around, only the first season works. I don't think I'd have become more than a casual fan if I'd seen the second season first. If I'd come in on the 3rd season, first half, with the exception of MBIAV, I don't think I'd have become a regular viewer. For me the worst thing about the second season was the first half loss of the Nick-Nat-Janette triangle. The Nick-Nat relationship was present in the first season subtext as Ger and CD played it long before Only the Lonely. It balance with such fascinating precariousness against Nick-Janette. The triangle returned in the second half, but it was never the same delicate mechanism we saw before. Of course the third season completely lost that and I *hated* LaCroix Lite. Whoever called him LaCroix on Prozac was exactly right. I miss Schanke very much. Lisa Ryder tries, but Tracy just isn't an adequate substitute. She and Ger don't spark off each other the way Ger and John Kapellos did. Because Tracy knows vampires exist and doesn't have the rich background John and the writers managed to give Schanke even in the first few episodes of season one, she can't replace Schanke as the mortal contrast to Nick. She comes off looking stupid because she never figures out that Nick's a vampire. It made sense when Schanke never seriously considered it until he more or less flipped out. Schanke thought vampires were fiction. Tracy knows better. Cousin Lisa -- "That will be trouble." I am a new fan of Forever Knight, discovering it for the first time this year when USA put the 3rd season. I was hooked. Never having been a fan of vampires before, I was lured into their romance first by "Interview with a Vampire", the movie. I enjoyed it (and not just because it starred Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt). Then on Halloween, a friend brough the Anime movie "The Vampire Hunter D". Awesome flick! I then watched Bram Stoker's "Dracula".....OK, by this point, vampires are in my blood (pun intended). So when I heard of Forever Knight, I had to check it out...and WOW. I was impressed! I started recording them so I could watch them again, I started looking for the pilot episode (since I didn't realize this was the 3rd season and not the first, and that was when I discovered the web sites, and that there were 2 other season's I missed! Oh if I could see them all! I did find the original, original pilot, Nick Knight, starring Rick Springfield. Bought it for $7 at SunCoast. Poor quality tape, recorded at SPL, with tracking problems, but was enjoyable to watch all the same. It explained alot of things about Nick I couldn't figure out, like whay a vampire would need a Cadillac, because it has a big trunk <g>. More about me... I am 32, married, and the mother of a 3.5 year old boy, and a 1.5 year old girl. I work as a Quality Assurance Engineer for Avid Technology, testing digital video editing software (the kind of software used by Stephen Spielberg to edit his movies. In my free time, I like to read (Rawne, Lackey, Chalker, Brooks, Bradley, etc), and I watch more TV than I should. Among my favorite shows are of course Forever Knight, Lois & Clark, Highlander, Babylon 5, Star Trek: Voyager, Hercules, Batman: The Animated Series, and the Anime seris Sailor Moon (though I am a little old to be watching that one). I also enjoy skiing in the Winter, and working in my many flower gardens in the summer. I enjoy party's with good friends, especially Halloween party's, since I enjoy designing costumes. Yeah, it's totally out of character and makes him uncharacteristically sleezy and slimy. Whether NB was angry at the time, it appears to me like he played it as he was "supposed" to. When I heard the line, "getting naked!", I cringed big time. I can't imagine even acting and having to say that line without rolling my eyes. I just didn't care about the multi-personalitied amateur stripper and I certainly didn't care who killed the sleazeball she picked up. >>Yes!Yes! First runner up for the "Ug, what horrible dialog" award (first of course going to "getting naked!") is when Ellen (her vamp incarnation) gives her speech which starts with "We are three.". "We are the Knights who say 'ni'," anyone? Someone who knows psychiatry tell me whether someone with multiple personalities is aware of the other ones besides knowing that there's stuff that they have done which they can't remember. Perhaps they know they have other personalities but can they analyze them as in "I have 3 personalities, the Ellen represents this, the second represents that etc.?" Even if it is realistic that she could know that, it just seemed so badly placed in the plot to explain everything and tie it all together and make a nifty ending. Oh, plus Urs always bored me, so I really didn't care about her backstory. >>I kind of like Urs in that I really think the Drew Barrymore thing is really cute, and I give a 10 for Urs' really cute hair. Would that my hair could do that. I liked the back story even though it didn't tell us that much except for the fact that Vachon found her attractive and that she said she wanted to die. Is she supposed to be another one of these vampires who really hates being immortal, but can't bring herself to commit suicide? As for the dialog she's given, well, it leaves a lot to be desired if we're supposed to think that she's on the ball, which maybe we're not supposed to. ping cpl@b....... ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 7 Mar 1996 12:11:20 EST From: MS IDALIA KAKESAKO <NPYF15B@p.......> Subject: Casting - other Star Trek productions After seeing Lynne Levine's Star Trek: TNG casting, I wondered about a Classic Trek cast ('60s version): Nick - Kirk (same blond, thinning hair; and some have compared their actors', uh, scenery chewing :) Natalie - Nurse Chapel (in love with a man she can't have) Janette - Uhura (exotic & stylish) Schanke - Scotty Tracy - Chekov (thinking of youth & inexperience here) Reese - McCoy LaCroix - ? The LaCroix guy was awful & the Janette--the UGLY Janette with her horridly fake-sounding French, and no style.... <shudder> And no Natalie either, just that guy. I couldn't stand it! At least Schanke was in it, but he was so much thinner--it was a strange sight to behold, I tell you. Still frightened by the memories, :) Idalia Kakesako <IdaliaK@p.......> Wow, 2 posts from me in 1 day. I also saw Lifetime's run of NICK NIGHT, thought it was crap but still saved the recording. Could someone, though, tell me whether DK explained how the movie's MALE coroner character magically changed into Natalie during the series?! ;D Also, not having discovered FK until after we moved to Johnson City in 1994, I never saw or taped DARK KNIGHT 1 & 2. Is a commercially sold version available somewhere, OR would anyone be game for a snail mail trade of some sort????? glw ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 8 Mar 1996 11:11:02 PST From: Gary L Warren <garylwarren@j.......> Subject: Re: N/N Relationship On Fri, 8 Mar 1996 00:38:29 -0500 Sandra Gray <TMP_HARKINS@d.......> writes: >> But LC is almost 2000 years old so I can see a >> possibility that he has more ability to hynotize people than other >> younger vampires. You BET Lacroix is a master at hypnosis, although, to me, his power is more in terms of PSYCHOLOGICALLY controlling a person via his voice and his radio program than actual eye-to-eye contact. Best example was last year's finale during his heart-to-heart talk with Schanke about Nick's "problem." ALL of that discussion involved persuasion through the tone of his voice, rather than its content. And Lacroix was DAMN good at it, too! (Of course it didn't hurt that Schanke, lovable he may be, really had fewer brains than even Natalie has shown this season. But I miss the character and wish he was back to provide Nick's *terribly* needed foil!) Now if Lacroix would just do something USEFUL with his powers of persuasion through the radio, such as make both Rush and Stern into jackasses, the world would TRULY be a better place! ;D glw ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 8 Mar 1996 12:41:19 -0500 From: Rich Anthony Mazzara <rmazzara@e.......> Subject: Re: FORKNI-L Digest - 7 Mar 1996 to 8 Mar 1996 - Special issueODOD WOW!
