They say they're going to start showing FK on the Sci Fi Channel in the
spring. When I see a commercial on The Sci Fi Channel for FK, I'll believe

I rewatched "SoB" this week, and, now that I have it on tape (and have
watched Ger lick that neck many more times than can possibly be good for
me) I have a question about that scene. When LC comes in, and Nick and
the female are totally vamped out, he seems to be *strangling* her... and
they're both... Well, it loses me. I mean, is it to temporarily stop
circulation above the neck in preparation for biting her? Or is it just
"basic" sadism inspired by the demon? If the answer to this question
cannot be phrased appropriately for forkni-l, email me privately.
And as long as I'm on "SoB"... I have decided that I now *adore*
that tag scene between Nick and Nat. He vamps out, and she, as she
always does, recoils. He pleads with her not to be scared, and is in
fact begging for her acceptance of him -- *all* of him. Those few
seconds, with their heads close together, as her heartbeat resonates and
her entire physical being is taken in by his vampire senses... as he
braces himself to go no further, and she struggles between her love and
her fear. What a scene!
And the Nightcrawler's text is darn good, too...

It's been asked, in some ways more appropriately, on fkspoilr, but I want
to expand it and ask it here. Regarding acceptance speeches? I'm sure
we'd all love to read the full text of *any* that are made by NB
(hurrah!), GWD, CD, and DD.
Come to think of it, these awards are for *last season*, right?
(Obviously; NB just won for "C&C") Well -- aren't next year's awards for
*this* year then something to look forward to? I know this season isn't
generally considered up to par with previous ones, but it's still a whole
lot better than the competition... and some people would be eligible in
the *directing* category...
Some have been griping about the fantasy movie casts, because we all
know that no one could ever do it as well as the cast we've got. So...
if we were handing out the Geminis next year, for which episodes would
our cast and crew win which awards? I nominate "AA" in the music
division, but I can't make up my mind on anything else. (And, yes, I
know there're still four episodes to come...) :)

completely forgotten them -- thank goodness -- but this weekend I was
showing a friend an early HL ep I recorded last fall, and... Ack! It fairly
screams "insipid-is-us." It's a miracle I ever discovered the show at all...

Oh yes!! I just went and got my copy of Ladyhawke and looking at the
picture I agree Rutger Hauer would be a great Nick (though I still prefer Ger).
Michelle Pfeifer would be my choice for Nat along with Bod Hoskins as
Schanke and Danny Glover as Reese. And get Richard Donner to direct. (he
directed Ladyhawke and all three Lethal Weapon movies)

Subject: Alt. Casting/FK Movie
The only role that I could really see being recast would be Screed, who I
would suggest could also be played by Denis Forest (I think that's the
right spelling). Mr. Forest previously worked with Ms. Disher in WoW. I
think that recasting any other role would severely damage the
end-product, in much the same way that I could never see anyone other
thatn Mark Lenard play Spock's father, Sarek, on Star Trek.

Nah, I don't think USA took it. The have their own over paid vampire

That letter... grrrrrrrr. <SNARL!> Lies, damn lies and STATISTICS,
dear friend. Everything Jackie posted was true. Everything Jamie posted hit
the mark. Not that they care. "To smile, and smile, and be a villain..."
Totally aside from the letter itself.
Some of us aren't scheduled to get Sci-Fi channel for several
years; the cable company in Denver that serves the major metro & suburb
areas DOES NOT HAVE IT on their links. Which means second gen copies, which
bites. :((( Ah, well... siggghhhh....
Actually, Sci-Fi doesn't start butchering the eps until after the
first run, from what I've heard. So you can get a good copy the first time
around. After that, yes, they dice and splice.
Well, I've finished venting. I hope the 'originals' are REALLY
original, and not just the first & second seasons... but I'm not holding my
breath.

Nick - Kenneth Branagh, or maybe Laurence Olivier (if time weren't a
factor) Hard to find someone who both broods and giggles well... maybe
David Duchovny... maybe, ooh, what's-his-name, from RESTORATION and CHAPLIN
and HEART AND SOUL--- who am I thinking of? Robert Downey. Yeah, him.
Natalie - Emma Thompson, Susan Sarandon ten years ago (would've been
perfect), Nicole Kidman if you get a _really_ good director
Lacroix - Alan Rickman. I'm serious, watch PRINCE OF THIEVES, he was the
only decent actor in it. Then watch SENSE AND SENSIBILITY. A shoo-in. If
you can't get him, ask Gary Cole what he's doing...
Schanke - hey, John Kapelos. You know, that guy from ROXANNE?
Janette - Michelle Pfieffer (five or six years ago). Jaded, beautiful,
smart... Perfect. Linda Fiorentino if Michelle won't do it.
Vachon - Jason Patric, from LOST BOYS and AFTER DARK, MY SWEET.
Tracy - Bridget Fonda.
Urs - either Drew Barrymore or Uma Thurman or Alicia Silverstone, depending
on which way you wanted it played.
Screed - I'll third whoever said Christian Slater. Could be a lot of nasty
fun in this for him...
Cohn - someone nominated Whoopi Goldberg, I think? Great. :) Or Julia Nickson.
Reese - Denzel Washington. Hey, why not? I can buy him as a police captain.
Stonetree - Brian Dennehy.
Someone brought up "why should it be a compliment to cast these guys?" It's
the old filling-the-shoes thing. Very hard acts to follow; all of our
Canadian actors have defined the parts so well that it's impossible to
imagine any of these big names bringing anything to the roles!
<<SIGH>> Let's hope if it ever happens, they do the sensible thing and go
with the best.. at least they did for the Star Trek movies. Right?

There are so many possibilities for a seperate cast, but that is just
what they would be - seperate. No one could replace what we have had.
The possibilities are fun to imagine, though. I whole heartedly agree
that a younger Rutger Houer would make an excellent Nicholas.
Ladyhawke...sigh... now there's a fellow to look forward to when the
night comes. As for Uncle, that would have to be John deLancie. His
work as Q is excellent. Wicked and entertaining, sounds like Lacroix to
me. How about MAry Elizabeth Masterantonio (sp?) for Nat? That's all I
can think of for the moment, except that I believe that Steve Buschemi
would make an excellent Screed. He's made for the part, wiry, sarcastic
and with a hint of insanity in the eyes.
These songs they keep writing. ARGHHHHH! They stick like crazy glue.
But hey, they are wickedly wonderful. I'm planning on placing them in
conspicuous places throughout my domicile to drive my roommate into my
madness. She refuses to be brought across. I've managed to get her to
watch a few scenes, but she is a tough assignment. I'm thinking of
hypnotherapy. Think it's worth a shot? She just can't realize what she
is missing. I've almost got her hooked on reading the list. I've caught
her glancing over into my screen a few to many times for it to be just
an passing glance.
HooRay for Nigel!!!! Isn't life wonderful? Now all that is left is
for GWD and CD to take the prize. Then life would have a bit of a
blissful edge to it. There can be joy even in the gloom. :>
Oh yeah, for the Star Wars version of the cast: How about Wedge
Antilles as Schanke? I know he's not as Schankeish as he could be but it
sort of fits the right hand man for Knick/Luke idea. Chewbacca could be
Screed to Han Solo's Vachon. But could you really see that big guy
surviving on rats? Hmmmm, need to think on it some more.

Good thing, too -- she thinks I'm snug in the dirt next to the rhododendron
bush out back. The shock would kill her. I would just like to say that if
anyone tried to give ME a cure, I would have their leg off in nothing flat.
That's why I'm a Cousin. Damn straight.
Maybe I will bring Cathy over someday. I dunno. She'd be a Carouche,
which would get her back for all those times she fawned over me, calling me
"her petit chevalier noir." I kind of miss her, but I have a better
advantage catching pigeons now, so that's okay. And that dry cat food

USA Networks is comprised of USA and the Sci-Fi Channel. Frankly, it makes a
lot of sense to run FN on Sci-Fi as most TV programmers see it as a "genre"
show. Unfortunately, Sci-fi doesn't have the household penetration of USA so
lots of fans will miss out.
I have to assume that "original episodes" means the ones this season that USA
didn't pay for in terms of production, but might be picking up to round out
the package for stripping on Sci-Fi.

Well we got to see Deb, Cat & Ger's category and sorry to say
that they weren't chosen. It's funny the only actor who was
chosen was Nigel and we didn't get to see him accept his award.
We got to see Ger quite a few times, he was one of the presenters
also. Deb & Cat weren't there I think, well I didn't see them.
But tonight was more of a Due South night than a Forever

It seemed to me that Nick was "getting off" on strangling her, or on
the "power" he was wielding over her. I think some of that was demon
inspired. It seemed to me that he was getting a major sexual thrill
out of it. I remember wondering at the time if he had actually forced
himself on her at the same time he was strangling her. But it's possible
that just the strangling was enough too.

That tag read different to me. I saw Nick as being very tempted *in
a vampire way* to take Natalie. Rather than "begging for her acceptance"
it seemed to me that he was using vampire seduction. And hearing her
heartbeat and all seemed to me to indicate how close he was to feeding
on her. I found that tag very disturbing because it was clear to me
that his experience had reawakened some old desires. I mean, he didn't
trust himself enough to go into work! Maybe his feelings for Nat
enabled him to exercise a bit more control than he would have around
lesser known mortals at work, but he was obviously still very shaken.
Nat may have wanted to help when she went there, but as I've said
before, I don't think she really understands what it's like for him as
a *vampire*. I think she wanted to find him recovered and more "human"
again or thought that her presence there would help him get back into
that more "human" outlook if he wasn't in it. And at first he tried
to fake that by trying to make it not seem a big deal that he had
booked off work and telling her she didn't have to stay, that he was
"fine". But he was obviously far from "fine", as evidenced by him
swilling directly from a bottle and his vamping out. At least Nat
had the good sense to be scared (and scared speechless for once!),
which was one of the benefits of the episode, imo.

If FK gets played exclusively on the SCI-FI Channel, it will be apochryphal.
There are only a a handful of Cable companies that carry the SCI FI
Net...This scenario will only frustrate the fans who can't get the show, and
will succeed in furthering the invisiblity that has cost us so dearly.
If we can't get the fourth season, please raise your voices and let TriStar,
Sony and USA that you want the reruns on local stations or USA (which, at
least, is available on all cable outlets..

Make "trailers" for FK? Distribute them on the 'Web? Add in the SFK
