It probably wouldn't make you feel better for long. It might even make you
feel like you were playing by *their* low-down sneaky rules. I mean, sure, I
felt great telling everyone at my ex-boyfriend's highschool that the guy had
herpes. After all, *he* had told everyone some stuff about *me* that wasn't
true at all. But now I'm kind of thinking, eight years later, that every
time I have a car problem it's because of some damn bad karma I've been
racking up.

"Revenge is a dish best served from beyond the grave."

I think we should be extra super syrupy sweet to these people. We're the
ones who've done everything right and noble. Let's win this game on *our*
terms. Or you can write a revenge story like I did. Man, I feel much
better! Try it! :)

Subject: Response from Sony

Just a couple comments on the response from Sony I just saw in my digest.

Boy, was that the biggest load of **** you've ever seen in your life?
Especially that baloney about the ratings. As far as I'm concerned, that
letter just added insult to injury.

If they wanted to mainstream the show *why* didn't they promote it (as in
proper advertising, merchandising, etc)?

If they really wanted to keep the show *why* didn't they keep their word
and look at February sweeps ratings like the promised (this bugs me more
than anything else-=we were obviously lied to at NATPE just so we'd get out
of their hair).

If the show was such an economic disaster for them *why* didn't they sell
it when they had a chance?

The editor of SFE, in the blurb at the end of the letters to the editor
about FK said that USA had "concrete financial reasons" for discontinuing
the series. This supports my contention all along that ratings had nothing
to do with the cancellation. Someone wanted "Forever Knight" dead, and it
wasn't necessarily TriStar (reason being they were ready to sell it at
NATPE right up until the end of November).

The only bit of encouraging news is the bit about SFC. They do sometimes
hwo what they called "Planetary Premiere's" which generally constitue
direct-to-video sci-fi B movies but they might be considering producing an
FK movie for that. It would certainly fit in their budget. I suppose
there's an off-chance that thse unseen episodes could be the remainder of
this season despite the fact that they've been aired. Who knows--TriStar
might make a deal with USA. Make a tv-movie, get the fans off our back,
and you can have the rest of season three cheap.

No matter how you look at it this just makes me all the more angry and
determined to stay on their case about this.

Sharon

Patricia Hamilton & Deb Duchene were not in the same category.

Patricia was nominated in the Best performance by an actress
in a supporting role in a dramatic series.

Deb was nominated in the best performance by an actress in a
supporting role in a dramatic program or mini-series.

I just looked a the nominations on the Gemini site and that's

Ok bear with me i cant rememebr a lot of names:

Nick: Sean Bean (check him out in Sharpe's Rifles, Patriot Games, &
 Goldeneye)Nat: Assumpta Serna (Sharpe's Rifles--strong beautiful woman)
LaCroix: ok ... argh what a toss up Malcolm McDowell or Patrick Stewart ...
Vachon: whoever suggested Christian Bale was inspired but here are my choices...
either Vincent Perez (Queen Margot, Cyrano de Bergerac, Indochine) or
Eric Schweig (who played Uncas in Last of the Mohicans ... yum)
Tracy: Gillian Anderson (let her shape up Tracy)
Schanke: Daragh O'malley (i think that's the name, Harper from Sharpes Rifles;)
Urs: Sharon Stone
Janette: Tamlyn Tomita (she could *really* pull this off)
Reese: no question JAMES EARL JONES (god that man is *the* man)
Stonetree: Graham green (not the author, that guy who played the N.A. cop in
                Thunderheart)
Cohen: Rosalind Chao (another fave)
Screed: with hair ... the Irishman Stephan in Braveheart (U could see Screed
   having conversations with God)
Bourbon: Daniel Auteil (sp?) see Queen margot

sorry for all the cross ethnic casting but these are my fave actors and i can
totally see them pulling it off

Probably US, especially considering how much USA (which owns SciFi) edits
shows for "content." Kind of hard to believe that the network that
creates "Silk Stalkings" edits out Duncan MacLeod saying "Pissed off."

Of course!!!! I agree, completely. But if you'll notice, not all of the
cast choices are exactly what you would call... plausible. The ones that
are, I tend to delete, because I can't think of *any* actors that can do it
as well as our favorite cast can. Like all the suggestions for Janette...
not one of them (even the ones that are meant to be serious) do the role
justice, not one of them is nearly a quarter of a half as good as Deborah

I thought for sure someone would have posted this already. Kristin
Lehman had a small part in Kung Fu on Thursday and she played
"a good cop". She subdued a rapist off-camera, got to wear a couple
of slinky outfits, and didn't have that blank look in her eyes. More
importantly, she got to make out with Peter Caine in KF:TLC. That,
along with get bitten by Vachon, makes her a lucky girl in my book! :-)

I guess there really are only 10 working Canadian actors.

Far be it from me to defend TPTB, but I have to add my 2c here. At the
beginning of this season, there was a big publicity push. I KNOW we really
didn't see it, but that's because the OUTLETS were reluctant.

(TJ tries to figure out how to say this without getting anybody in trouble
or starting rumors)

At the beginning of the season (before I was brought across) a close friend
of mine who is a journalist with a major syndicate called me and said that
I could get an interview with GWD if I wanted to, because they were showing
it on USA now and they were in a major publicity push. I told her thanks
for the tip, but I had just recently published the interview I had done with
him at during season 2 so I didn't think it'd be a good idea. But I
understood the show was pretty good, so I gave the reprint a prominent place
on the site.

That was October. Two months later, when all heck broke loose, I called
my friend and asked her whatever happened to the interview SHE had done with
him at that time. Here's what she told me:

First, that her editors had insisted on HOLDING the article -- which was a
cover story, BTW -- until the fate of the show had been decided. An interview
done in October doesn't run until November, and that was getting into
the time when decisions are starting to be made. Afterwards, her editor
had fought to get the story carried, but was overruled by her bosses because
they thought that "there wasn't enough interest". (A journalist friend of
mine translates that as "It wouldn't suck up to the networks enough.")

Eventually, a much shorter version of the interview ran in my friend's
television column, which is syndicated but is certainly no cover story.

I know that's all really vague, but like I said, I don't want to get anyone
in trouble or start rumors, so please don't ask me for more details.

Anyway, I bring this up because I know it's really frustrating and tempting
to lay all the blame on USA, or TriStar, or ANYBODY tangible. But this is
one case where I KNOW they tried.

Now if they had just done some decent advertising, THAT would have been nice!

For what it's worth, I agree that this didn't really have anything to do
with numbers. Basically, it was handled badly and that wasn't taken into
consideration.

To paraphrase the Nightcrawler, we can "play the woulda' coulda' shoulda'
game" all day long, it's not going to change anything.

Just keep bringing people across while we have new eps! Let's see if we
can't blow out whatever ratings we have left. (Never know where those
Neilsen families are hiding!)
