Mine doesn't. But then, I could leave a steak on the floor and he wouldn't
touch it (ask anybody, Brandon is practically perfect, except when it comes
to mashed potatoes).

I suspect that it was beef or chicken broth with red food coloring in it.
Or maybe even cow's blood right out of the meat packaging.

Toni,
Sorry I must disagree with you all the way. Bullock, Dern--totally
lacking that sense of smoldering sensuality; Men mentioned--boring; lets
get to it--the folks who created these characters ought to play these
roles in a movie. If the movie makers want my $$$ ...

Okay, I've tackled this from a different direction. I had read all the
other casting suggestions and liked them all so much that I didn't know what
to add. Then I thought, what about FK as a comedy? I'm reaching with some
of these suggestions, but I think some are right on.

Nick - Steve Martin, have you seen him angst in Parenthood?
Nat - Mary Steenburgen
LaCroix - Charlton Heston, in a parody of himself
Janette - That woman from Big, what's her name? Shoot, the love interest
Vachon - Adam Sandler ::shudder::
Tracy - Sara Jessica Parker
Urs - Lisa Kudrow

Does anyone else think we should expand the Gilligan's Island song challenge
to include any theme song? The "Beverly Hillbillies" song had me literally
*screaming* with laughter. We could do all kinds of things with this one.

Friends -
I'll drink blood from you (when the night starts to fall)
I'll drink blood from you (when I work up the gall) . . .

The Muppet Show -
It's time to face the music.
It's time to dim the lights.
It's time to meet the vampires
On Forever Knight . . .

Frasier -
Oh, baby, hear the night a-calling
(Lucien and toga legs).
And Nickie, you think that you can run
But, baby, I've got you pegged . . .

The Adams Family -
Nah, that one's too easy.

Anyway, you get my point. Anyone up for the challenge?

I accidently deleted who sent the suggestion, but have to agree with
Frank Langella as LaCroix - or as LaCroix nemisis. Not only are his
villains chilling now, I saw him on stage in "Dracula" when he was
touring in it after Broadway. So sexy but you got a knot in your
stomach and goosebumps when he appeared on stage from behind the sofa
(one hand appears on one end of the sofa, another hand appears on the
other end of the sofa and Dracula rises arms outspread - he's a very
big man.) You can get the effect of the smoldering bedroom eyes from
the 1979 film. - Keep in mind it's pre-Star Wars special effects
technology and some of the effects were considered very good at the time.

i think the Wicked Tipster is getting to me. i'm feeling wicked, for some
reason. Wicked in a sit on my butt and play email sorta way but wicked.
You'll note that my picks will not work in any stretch of the imagination.
It's just my dream wicked cast. An "I don't give a stressed darn what you
think. I know what's what." kind of cast. Stop it, Tippi.
And i apologize for my list being so Anglo-centric. i don't see enough
foreign films, too many of my favourite actors are white (Hollywood's
xenophobia surely doesn't help me any).

My Odd, "i'm now a Die-Hard" Dream Cast
(wherein everyone angsts or gloats) -
(and ignore the fact that the actors' ages don't work out. i'm lucky the
sexes work. Almost work.)

Nick: Ralph Fiennes
Nat: Michelle Peiffer
Schanke: Bono
Tracy: Kate Winslet
Stonetree: Malcolm McDowell
Cohen: Angela Bassett (or Viven Leigh if the time wasn't a problem)
Reese: Anthony Hopkins
Commissioner Vetter: Anthony Head
Grace: RuPaul (i cast 'im, Laura!)
Janette: Gillian Anderson
Vachon: Christian Bale (or James Dean if time wasn't a problem)
Bourbon: Sean Penn
LaCroix: Gary Oldman
Miklos: Quentin Tarantino (Laurence Olivier if the Time wasn't a prob)
Urs: Courtney Love (or Marilyn Monroe if... you know)
Alma: Sinead O'Connor
Screed: Russell Crowe
Aristotle: John De Lancie
Felix Twist: Jeremy Northam

Hey, we're all open-minded and accepting of others' eccentricities, here.
Stop making those faces.

A Happy Cast -

Nick: Kenneth Branagh
Nat: Emma Thompson
(predictable, i know. sorry.)
Schanke: Jackie Chan
Commissioner Vetter: Patrick Stewart
Tracy: Eric Idle
(oop - the nitrous has finally leaked into the computer lab)
Vachon: Torgo
Stonetree: Tracey Ullman (and she could do it, too)
Cohen: Archie Bunker
Urs: TV's Frank
Janette: John Cleese
LaCroix: Joel Robinson [Hodgson]

(this could go on for pages)

Major shutter!!! LFB would be lucky if she were half as talented as DD by
the time she was *Janette's* age.

How about:
Nick -- Kenneth Branagh
LaCroix -- Jack Nickelson or Sean Connery (if you want to keep that Scottish
theme going)
Nat -- Rene Russo
Vachon -- (guess I'm biased, but I can't think of anyone who would do this
role justice)
Tracy -- Tracy Needham
Screed -- Christian Slater (sans hair)
Urs -- Gillian Anderson
Janette -- (can't think of anyone talented enough or devestatingly pretty
enough to play this role)

Of course, no one could really replace *our* excellent cast!

Subject: My casting choices

I've really been enjoying the Top Ten lists, and all the other massive
creativity going on recently. (I thought that the *Vachon* song made me
laugh hard -- then I read the Brady Bunch theme one.) If I were Empress of
the Universe -- or at least of Sony -- and had to re-cast FK for a movie,
here's what I'd pick:

FK cast from heaven:

Nick: Val Kilmer
LaCroix: Rutger Hauer or Kevin Spacey
Tracy: Bridget Fonda
Vachon: Jason Patric (Is that how you spell it? Guy from "Rush" and "Lost
Boys")
Screed: Gary Oldman
Schanke: Bob Hoskins
(These three have already been mentioned (sorry -- I forgot by whom) and I
agree totally:)
Natalie: Laura Dern
Janette: Linda Fiorentino
Urs: Drew Barrymore

**** About the casts from hell --I'm not saying that any of these actors
are bad; most are my favorites. It's just a case of the *wrong* person in
the part, or that the picture of them doing FK cracks me up.

FK cast from hell -- comedy -- US:

Nick: Thomas Haden-Church
LaCroix: Phil Hartman
Natalie: Ellen Degeneres
Schanke: Robin Williams
Janette: Christine Baranski
Tracy: Courtney Thorne-Smith
Vachon: Denis Leary
Urs: Lauralee Bell

FK from hell -- Merchant Ivory UK version:

Nick: Kenneth Branagh
Natalie: Emma Thompson
Lacroix: Anthony Hopkins
Schanke: Bob Hoskins
Janette: Miranda Richardson
Screed: Gary Oldman
Now wait a minute . . . that actually sounds good . . let's start over:

FK from hell -- comedy -- UK version

Nick: Michael Palin
Natalie: Tracy Ullman
LaCroix: John Cleese
Schanke: Robbie Coltrane
Janette: Jennifer Saunders ("Ni-cola, sweetie darling!")
Tracy: Patsy Kensit
Vachon: Hugh Grant
Urs: Jane Horrock (Bubble from AbFab)

FK Noir:

Nick: Gary Oldman
Natalie: Linda Fiorentino
Lacroix: Alan Rickman (or Jack Nicholson: "It's Chinatown, Nick . . .")
Schanke: Robert de Niro (or Harv Keitel, if Bob's not available)
Janette: Sherilyn Fenn
Tracy: Sharon Stone
Vachon: Andy Garcia
Screed: Quentin Tarantino
Urs: Uma Thurman

(You know, I'd kind of like to see both of those, too)

Last, but not least, FK from hell -- US Version:

Nick: Stuart Smalley
Natalie: Janeane Garofalo
LaCroix: Chevy Chase
Schanke: Dom Deluise
Janette: Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Tracy: Jamie Lee Curtis
Vachon: John Travolta
Screed: Keanu Reeves, with head shaved, in accent
Urs: Sandra Bernhardt (sp?)

I'm going to sleep now . . . and I *fear* what I'm going to dream . . .

Okay, it just *has* to be done, you know:

        A MUPPET FOREVER KNIGHT:

        Nick: Kermit (of course!)
        Lacroix: Gonzo
        Schanke: Fozzie Bear
Nat: Janice (like, way cool, ya know?)
        Janette: Miss Piggy
Stonetree: Doctor Teeth (and the Electric Mayhem would be cops)

Of course, that's if they go back to 1st season. If they film from the
current season:

Tracy: you know, I'm kinda stumped here; there AREN'T a lot of girl
Muppets. How about Link Hogthrob in a dress? Although
                actually Janice might be good
        Vachon: Sweetums (big and hairy)
        Screed: Ratso Rizzo (naturally!)
        Reese: the Swedish Chef

and of course, Miss Piggy will have to play Natalie in this scenario
because it's in her contract that she has a starring role in ALL Muppet
features. And songs! There have to be at least a couple of production
numbers featuring rats and chickens, singing silly upbeat ditties written
for preference by Paul Williams.

And let's all just hope it wasn't Henson Productions that was attempting to
buy rights to the series!!!

My tribute to Jeannette:

Who can drain a man dry wit her smile
Who can take a nothing club and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile

Well, it's you girl and you should know it
With each pout and every little bon mot you show it

Blood is all around no need to waste it
You can have a town, why don't you take it

You're gonna make it after all

All praise, flame, etc.........

Forgive me, I have no wish to flame anyone, BUT I feel that suggesting
outsiders for roles in FK is, well, disloyal. Someone has to say this,
we should stay the course with the cast we know and enjoy.

Then, again,

It could have been another Visene moment (stealing shamelessly from
the commercial). ;)

I've awakened quite a few times earlier than scheduled, only to look in the
mirror and have my own version of the "red eye" look. :)

Um, like Jim Parriott?

No, but seriously, I know what you mean -- GWD, NB, DD, CD, etc etc. We're
not being disloyal to the actors OR the show just by hypothesizing. I think
we ALL prefer the original cast to anyone we could conjure up. However, the
question that was posed asked us to put ourselves to basically put ourselves
in TPTB's place and cast it for a big-money venture. It's like when they had
MASH the movie, and then they did the TV show, they did the reverse of what
we're doing. ;)

Stop it? STOP it?! But why would I want to? My wicked plan has been
unfurled! Muahahaha! I'm corrupting the entire world! Oh wait that rhymed.
Hmm... Poetry for the dark side! ;)

Actually, I could see that. Angtsy. Welsh. (His being Welsh is the only
excuse he has for pronouncing "Ralph" as "Rafe" instead of "Ralf".) Very
nice looking. Yeah, I could see that. Does he have any qualms about being
naked?

Regarding casting choices in general: Isn't it interesting how so many of us
choose the same actors, though not necessarily in the same roles? Obviously
we have a lot of Gillian Anderson fans! And Gary Oldman is popular as well.

        What about
        Piggy Sue as Tracy

The Count as Miklos, an excellent bartender mixing drinks perfectly
and counting all the change.

Unfortunately, all I can think of is Interview witht the Vampire. It's as if
these folks are screaming to do the FK story next. Can you picture it?

Nick - Brad Pitt

LaCroix - Tom Cruise

Vachon - Antonio Banderos

Natalie - Nicole Kidman

Tracy - Melanie Griffith

Janette - Madonna or Sharon Stone

Whadday think? Totally offbase??

I think we all agree with you, but the original question specifically
asked who we would pick if we COULDN'T use the original cast.

Actually, I notice a trend here: Choices either highlight how WRONG
anyone else would be in these roles, or how GOOD the current cast is.
(I like Kenneth Brannaugh. Suggesting him as a replacement for GWD
is, I think, a compliment.)

Oh, PLEASE! All the angst of a tomato. Definitely couldn't do the role
justice.
