Why do I get a sudden picture of Ray's sister (from "Due South") chasing

Jamie said <big snip>

to pass on to my off-line FK watching relatives (we'll just have to hide it

I just called Crescendo and ordered the CD. I talked to a guy who was so laid
back that *I* had to tell him what info he needed to take down.
He said it wasn't shipping until mid-March, but that they were taking
pre-orders (I said, "that's what I'm doing--pre-ordering!") I forgot to give
him the order #--I hope that doesn't mess me up.

Duuuuuudes!

I'm, like, *so* glad to finally meet up with some other totally kewl FORKNI
Felines. This is *most* excellent. My human has been, like, freaked out to
the max over this show for the past few months. I've watched it a couple of
times with her, but she turns into, like, *mega-witch* when I try to crawl
into her lap for some head noogies while she's watching. It's not my fault
my tail blocks her view, you know? I mean, a tail's gotta do what a tail's
gotta do! I tell her, "Duuude! Chill, wouldya?" but she's, like, spazzin'
over that blonde dude with the fangs and the guilt trips. I dunno, man. I
thought she was freakin' pretty bad over that show on Fox with the FBI
agents, but this is different. She's a trippy, trippy chick.

Okay, dudes. Gotta run. It's been real chattin' with you kewl ones.

Later,

Oh, PostScript time, amigos----I'm *totally* buzzed about the upcoming most
excellent debut of FOREVER CAT TALES. My old lady has already promised me
she'll part with some cash for a copy. Kewl, yes?

Subject: Rebec or Cello?

Hi listfolks,
I've been catching up on my lurking (gone through two weeks of posts in one
day, now I've only got to go through this week's, arrghh) and can finally
post something myself.

I had always thought the first seven notes or so of the intro (I just adore
those notes!) were done on a cello or the electronic equivalent of one. That
was before I knew about LaCroix's rebec from previous eps. like Dark Knight.
So after reading the post that, oh who was it, [Names removed by request]? wrote
quite a while back about the rebec in FK not sounding like a true rebec, it
made me wonder what a real one sounds like. I dug through all my dad's
medieval music (which I never thought I'd do) and came up with a few helpful
selections. To echo what was posted previously, the rebecs that I heard
(both tenor and bass) were high pitched and less than melodic to say the
least. And here I was hoping that I'd found a wonderful new instrument so
like a cello but more exotic. Ha. After researching it a bit in the library
I found that all the known rebecs were of 3 strings, high pitched, and were
popular but mainly used for dancing. They went drastically out of style
around the 16th cent., I think, when the violin took over. No wonder, since
they sound rather unappealing.
So what on earth is that thing that is playing those notes in the intro??
Does it really come from the instrument that LaCroix is holding in Dark
Knight or is it dubbed by something else? Whatever it is it's positively
gorgeous. If someone much more musically literate than I has an answer
please let me know, (Mr. Mollin himself would be nice of course!)

Oh so Curious

mornings, they are adding an encore presentation Saturday late night (Sunday

1) My late-night television viewing is usually limited to FK, but for some
reason I watched Jay Leno's monologue last night. He misread a cue card,
and, instead of saying, "those network TV executives," he said, "those
nitwit TV executives." ROTFL! Forget what the joke was *supposed* to be;
*we* all know who this providential description *really* applies to! <g>

2) Slinging my bag over my shoulder on my way out the door this morning,
I was stopped dead in my tracks by a song on the radio. The lyrics went:
"I know this night/ won't last forever/ I know the sun's/ got to shine/
sometime/ I need some hope/ for a bright tomorrow..." Depressed? I
was. Just go read #1 again... :)

When you enjoy and follow a TV series as much as this one, it makes sense
to keep a simple data base of episodes -- the ones you've seen or the ones
you especially liked.

Include plot, main characters and guest stars. Add your own comments about
the episode. Once you have a few episodes on the data base, it's really
enjoyable to browse through your notes, add more comments, scan the index.
