Whoops! Generalization alert. While I find Nick's search for mortality
fascinating, the engine that drives the whole FK machinery, I'm a newbie who
thinks he can find "redemption" without giving up vampirism. (But then I'm a
Pagan. What do I know about sin? <g>) I would guess we all have our
different opinions on this subject, depending on our view of vampirism. As I
haven't seen that many episodes, I haven't quite figured out what the FK take
on this is, though I've got a pretty good idea how Nick feels about it.
There have been a few episodes that bring up a non-Christian spirituality
(Black Buddha, Blackwing), and those seemed to suggest that vampirism isn't
necessarily an evil.

The first episode I saw was "Trophy Girl", and boy, was I clewless. I had
seen the movie with Rick Springstein years ago, but that was it. So, anyway,
there was this flashback scene...oops, this is still under spoiler
protection, isn't it? But there's this *intriguing* encounter between Nick
and LaCroix, and I think one of my kinks is showing and I'd better scurry off
to jadfe. But it could very well be that the first episode we see *flavors*
the way we look at the rest of them.

Well if this comes to pass, I think we can all agree that it would NOT have
happened without the lists' charity fund drive. Everyone take a bow. If the

Um, not quite. As Raissa said, he appeared in the first season episode,
"Hunted". In this ep, Nick had to ask him for help because the precinct's new
computer system came up with zippo when they tried to find his personnel (and
personal) records. Larry was kinda ticked, and pointed out that, because Nick
hadn't come to him when he first arrived, he would now have to create a
background back to Nick's supposed childhood. So, we can infer that Larry is
the vampire Community's hacker.

In a second season ep, "Forward Into The Past", we meet Aristotle, who *is*
the 'vampire travel agent'. It's made quite clear that *he* is where to go to
get a new identity, travel arrangements, etc.

I've always figured, myself, that Aristotle needed help with computer stuff,
back when using them became common (we see him in a room filled with paper
files and mimeo machines, in a flashback), and brought Larry Merlin over so
he'd have someone who understood computers to do his hacking for him. And
that's why we see Larry Merlin in "Hunted" (computer data) and Aristotle in
"FITP" (false identities). Aristotle is, in effect, Larry's boss, and
possibly his Master as well.

But that is, of course, just IMHO. :)

Actually if I remember what I've read right, C Thomas Howell plays the human
who knows about the vampires (ie a Nat-ish role) and he shouldn't be vamping

Subject: Buying the Caddy?

We haven't really talked about forming a Caddy-purchase
consortium and maybe we should. I could spare a few hundred dollars for
that. Anyone else? What we would do with it? Would conventions
actually wish to lease it/pay fees for its use? It might be a
self-supporting car.

        I used to have, and love with a passion, a 1961 two-tone Rocket 88
(Oldsmobile Delta 88), baby blue and white, electric seats, electric
windows and soooooo much chrome. It had more interior space than some
apartments I lived in. It got 8 miles to the gallon on hi-test,
which was just about the same as a Sherman tank, but the sound of its
8-cylinder engine in perfect tune was pure American music. A 1962
convertible Caddy, even frog-green (look out Sharon Scott, here it comes!)
would be fun. And we could make the trunk available to needy vampires.

Shouldn't fire be in there somewhere? I seem to recall Nick killing a

I recently tried to get in touch with the author of the Forever Knight
FAQ, Steve Fellows, by sending him e-mail at the address I got from the
REVIEW command for this list. Why? At the beginning of the FAQ he states
that it was original a WordPerfect 5.1 document exported to ASCII text. I
have several WP macro files that can translate a WP document into HTML. I
thought that it would make an excellent web page, and I'm willing to do
the work myself. However, I need the original document (hopefully updated:
the one at the FTP site is a bit old). It could save a lot of time for the
newbies, and even for list veterans. Could someone please tell me how to
contact him; the address I have doesn't appear to work.

Okie dokie. Tons of people over on jadfe have been wondering what the
hey is going on with all the subscription requests on the main list,
instead of the listserv, so here's my attempt to set things straight.

If you are on FKFIC-L, and wish to be set to receive adult stories, send
a message to listserv@p....... with the following in the body of the
message:

"SET FKFIC-L ADULT:"

without the quotes, of course. I'm not positive about the semicolon; if
it doesn't work the first time, try it without. The default setting is
without ADULT, so if you want it, you gotta ask.

If you want to subscribe to JADFE, the FK erotica list, send mail to
majordomo@j....... with

"SUBSCRIBE JADFE Catherine Boone"

with your name inserted instead of mine. (Anyone who subscribes me
twice, three times, four times... does not get a brownie.)

If these subscription posts are starting to sound repetitious, well,
jadfe folks are still getting fairly spammed with subscription messages
sent to the wrong address.

I've done my best to ensure that this is the correct way to do
things. If I'm wrong about anything, I apologize and deserve to be
strung up for making everyone more confuzzled. Bye!

Just got this in my email from the Extra entertainment show. Not much of a

I've seen the show, and everytime it's on, there's a Baywatch story. Bleh.
They must be in need of ideas, so let's give em one! I think a founding

I wrote that story in May of 1994 because Baycon was the same weekend as
MediaWest*Con. There are two versions--the 'nice' version and the 'mean'
version.

The story has never been posted to FKFic-L. Both versions were published in
a zine I produced called "Daydreams & Knightmares" (along with a bunch of
other nice or nasty stories). And "Knight in Hell" was my inaugural story
link when my web page first went up in November.

Due to the sudden interest in the story, I've linked it to my webpage for

unbecoming a FORKNI-L member. Until this banning is revoked, you could

I will stress this has nothing to do with the fact that the forwarded

If everything else were a go, either for a fourth season or for movies,
availability of replacement Caddilac convertible wouldn't be that big of
an issue. In a worst-case scenario, one could be assembled from junked

collectors/enthusiasts. I conced that it would be even cooler if
subsequent episodes or movies were shot using one of the original FK
Cadillacs; but, it wouldn't be a severe obstacle if it couldn't happen. I
hope this is of some comfort to my fellow list-members.

Sincerely,
Lane Lombardia

I'm not sure. I think that gold is for normal vamp activities and hunger,
and red is for major bloodlust. But then again, Janette's eyes were red
when she just wanted to scare Schanke in close call.

I don't know!

As I recall the ep, Nick rams a *flaming* stake into LC's chest, and LC
does appear to catch on fire as he is pinned to the elevator door.
But Nick goes to see to the fallen Alyce Hunter (who LC had just
munched on) and doesn't keep his full attention on LC. Alyce is dead
(supposedly) and Nick grieves (again, not paying much attention to LC).
He glances in the direction of the elevator door a couple of times and
it appears that LC is burnt to nothing, *but* since Nick wasn't watching
all the time, it's possible LC got away when he wasn't looking. It's
apparent from the tag that Nick slipped into unconsciousness soon after
the fight with LC due to the fight and being previously starved for
blood because Nat mentions that she had to transfuse him with a pint
of blood from Schanke or he would have starved to death (!).

LC *does* return in the last episode of first season, Love You to
Death (which details in the flashback an incident that lead to Nick
deciding *no* human deserved to be the victim of a vampire). The final
scene in the present day is LC on the street outside of Nick's loft
feeding on some guy, who he lets fall and then looks up at Nick's
building. His eyes go from yellow to angry red and that's all we see
of LC until the first episode of second season, Killer Instinct, in
which the only explanation we get for his return is LC telling Nick
he is too old and powerful to be destroyed.

Nick didn't appear to skewer LC with the flaming steak *precisely* in
the heart, so I suspect LC either flew away or perhaps *teleported*
away when Nick was busy with Alyce Hunter (although I did explore a
more "magical" method of LC surviving in some fanfic I wrote).

Personally, I liked LC better when he was dead. ;)

I can understand them selling off the Caddy, but Vachon's motorcycle? Did we
ever *see* Vachon on a motorcycle?
Was it like Nick's motorcycle--seen in the background but never ridden?
(Well, we did see Nick sitting on it in lst season, but that's all I
remember)

In Blackwing, the only time Vachon is even shown is during the
beginning of the show; he is on his bike, being interviewed by a reporter as
an interested citizen in the Indian rights movement.

PASS IT ON...

I have to take a moment and thank everyone for the incredible show of support.
We at FK have the greatest fans in the world.
While it looks 99.9 percent fatal for the show's future it wasn't for lack of
fan response!
Please keep the pressure on with your local stations, Sony, TriStar and even
USA Network.
If the fans continue to raise their voices, people will take notice and maybe
there will be a possibilty of another FK incarnation!

thanks from all of us on the Knight Shift

Only in Nick Knight, the movie pilot that starred Rick Springfield.
The movie was redone with the new cast as Dark Knight and Dark Knight:
The Second Chapter as the beginning episodes of the first season. But
Nick's name was changed to Nicolas for the series. As far as I know,
Nick's used some variation of his first name in his known aliases.

Hehe.. I did a slight funny with the caddie for sale post. I have been
forwarding stuff to my mother about t-shirts, etc, and places she should
write to.. each with the subject "Write here" or "Get me one of these will
you (re:t-shirts". Anyway, when I got the caddie auction one, I immdiately
forwarded that to my mother, with the innocuous subject "Get me one of these,
will you? hahaha" So what do you think.... do you think she'll get it with-
out realizing that it's 35000 dollars?? I can always hope hehehe...

No, C. Thomas Howell is Frank Kohanek, the mortal detective who discovers
