While I find Nick's search for mortality fascinating, the engine that drives the whole FK machinery, I'm a newbie who thinks he can find "redemption" without giving up vampirism. (But then I'm a Pagan. What do I know about sin? <g>) I would guess we all have our different opinions on this subject, depending on our view of vampirism. As I haven't seen that many episodes, I haven't quite figured out what the FK take on this is, though I've got a pretty good idea how Nick feels about it. There have been a few episodes that bring up a non-Christian spirituality (Black Buddha, Blackwing), and those seemed to suggest that vampirism isn't necessarily an evil. The first episode I saw was "Trophy Girl", and boy, was I clewless. I had seen the movie with Rick Springstein years ago, but that was it. So, anyway, there was this flashback scene...oops, this is still under spoiler protection, isn't it? But there's this *intriguing* encounter between Nick and LaCroix, and I think one of my kinks is showing and I'd better scurry off to jadfe. But it could very well be that the first episode we see *flavors* the way we look at the rest of them. I know he > is usually responisble for providing new identities to those in the vampire > community who want to disappear and start over. Um, not quite. As Raissa said, he appeared in the first season episode, "Hunted". In this ep, Nick had to ask him for help because the precinct's new computer system came up with zippo when they tried to find his personnel (and personal) records. Larry was kinda ticked, and pointed out that, because Nick hadn't come to him when he first arrived, he would now have to create a background back to Nick's supposed childhood. So, we can infer that Larry is the vampire Community's hacker. In a second season ep, "Forward Into The Past", we meet Aristotle, who *is* the 'vampire travel agent'. It's made quite clear that *he* is where to go to get a new identity, travel arrangements, etc. I've always figured, myself, that Aristotle needed help with computer stuff, back when using them became common (we see him in a room filled with paper files and mimeo machines, in a flashback), and brought Larry Merlin over so he'd have someone who understood computers to do his hacking for him. And that's why we see Larry Merlin in "Hunted" (computer data) and Aristotle in "FITP" (false identities). Aristotle is, in effect, Larry's boss, and possibly his Master as well. But that is, of course, just IMHO. :) Diane E # D Echelbarger gryphon@e....... # # WWW HomePage: http://www.execpc.com/~echelbar/ # ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Feb 1996 00:36:04 GMT From: Tammy Williams <sackett@u.......> Subject: Re: The Kindred, C. It got 8 miles to the gallon on hi-test, which was just about the same as a Sherman tank, but the sound of its 8-cylinder engine in perfect tune was pure American music. As I recall the ep, Nick rams a *flaming* stake into LC's chest, and LC does appear to catch on fire as he is pinned to the elevator door. But Nick goes to see to the fallen Alyce Hunter (who LC had just munched on) and doesn't keep his full attention on LC. Alyce is dead (supposedly) and Nick grieves (again, not paying much attention to LC). He glances in the direction of the elevator door a couple of times and it appears that LC is burnt to nothing, *but* since Nick wasn't watching all the time, it's possible LC got away when he wasn't looking. It's apparent from the tag that Nick slipped into unconsciousness soon after the fight with LC due to the fight and being previously starved for blood because Nat mentions that she had to transfuse him with a pint of blood from Schanke or he would have starved to death (!). LC *does* return in the last episode of first season, Love You to Death (which details in the flashback an incident that lead to Nick deciding *no* human deserved to be the victim of a vampire). The final scene in the present day is LC on the street outside of Nick's loft feeding on some guy, who he lets fall and then looks up at Nick's building. His eyes go from yellow to angry red and that's all we see of LC until the first episode of second season, Killer Instinct, in which the only explanation we get for his return is LC telling Nick he is too old and powerful to be destroyed. Nick didn't appear to skewer LC with the flaming steak *precisely* in the heart, so I suspect LC either flew away or perhaps *teleported* away when Nick was busy with Alyce Hunter (although I did explore a more "magical" method of LC surviving in some fanfic I wrote). Personally, I liked LC better when he was dead. ;) --Sandra Gray, forever Knightie --tmp_harkins@d....... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 26 Feb 1996 23:24:02 -0500 From: Sharon Scott <Sss44@a.......> Subject: Auction items I can understand them selling off the Caddy, but Vachon's motorcycle? Only in Nick Knight, the movie pilot that starred Rick Springfield. The movie was redone with the new cast as Dark Knight and Dark Knight: The Second Chapter as the beginning episodes of the first season. But Nick's name was changed to Nicolas for the series. As far as I know, Nick's used some variation of his first name in his known aliases. --Sandra Gray, forever Knightie --tmp_harkins@d....... ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Feb 1996 10:44:48 GMT From: Anne Toole <AMELY@a.......> Subject: Re: Adding Insult to Injury... Hehe.. I did a slight funny with the caddie for sale post. I have been forwarding stuff to my mother about t-shirts, etc, and places she should write to.. each with the subject "Write here" or "Get me one of these will you (re:t-shirts". Anyway, when I got the caddie auction one, I immdiately forwarded that to my mother, with the innocuous subject "Get me one of these, will you? hahaha" So what do you think.... do you think she'll get it with- out realizing that it's 35000 dollars??
