I got it in the States somewhere as I was driving to Toronto. You would more than likely have to special order it in, if it is still available. Which means that we are not going to be able to use clips from the show in the commercial. Instead is there anybody with a high quality printer who can print up a copy of Jamie's web page and mail it to Kira ASAP? She can use the skyline as background, with the WebSite at the bottom during the duration, along with the phone number and whatever other info she can include. I don't have access to a printer that is good enough to do this, though. Also, I know I said this before but, we need more stations. In a lot of places the rates aren't too bad. In SF a Forever Knight spot is $75 (We are aiming for the Highlander package, though, which includes two first-run eps of HL and two eps of FK...but that is very expensive and we may end up having to settle for just a couple FK spots); anyway, my point is, look into how much a spot costs at your local syndie. A lot of stations will discount the fee because the spot is advertising *the station* as well. But in order to do that we have to include station info in the commercial. Which means Kira needs the info ASAP. She also got a full time job now, so she's going to have to work on her time-juggling skills to pull this off...and as such, I know I asked before, but I will ask again: Is there anyone on list in Sonoma County (or even Marin/Napa counties) who would be willing to help out a bit? Nigel had a *big* role; we shoulda known! I just happened to catch the post and see 3/4 of it-- thanks to the original poster! The film featured 3 FK people: Nigel, and Urs, and also one of the guest stars from season 2-- the girl who played the hooker with the baby played a drug dealer's girlfriend last season -- I don't remember the name of the ep, but I think it was the one where the real killer was a girl from Texas whose innocence Nick believed and Schanke didn't-- it had the great flashback with the sweet nun. Nigel was great, very wicked, much less restrained than he plays LaCroix, though with the same haircut. He plays an ambitious petty criminal who masquerades as a priest and is fond of quoting, in Latin, the line the serpent used to tempt Adam and Eve in the garden. He runs with, and loves devotedly, the evillest woman this side of Kathy Bates in 'Misery'. Urs was Urs. (I *like* Urs) Gee, only ten actors in all of Canada, and there were three of them... I just found more proof for the theory that there are only about 37 actors in Canada. NBC just ran a movie called 87th Precinct: Ice, and our very own Uncle had a part. He plays a pretty good nasty, but was nothing at all like LaCroix. Think of someone as destructive as LaCroix, but without any of the redeeming qualities (no deep monologues, no education, no taste, etc.) I'm pretty sure I spotted the girl (sorry, don't know her name) who plays Urs, too. She had an itty-bitty part, but anyone that pretty is hard to miss. Thought I'd let y'all know in case you want to hunt down someone who taped the movie. BTW, Dale Midkiff <pant, pant> starred in the movie. He was the one who played Darian Lambert in Time Trax, for those of you who remember that show. I know at least one person out there remembers, just from her .sig. (Hi, Selma!) ObFK comment: Um, um <running through blank mind to no avail> Okay, how about a question? Has the show ever explained how Nick got turned onto law enforcement? Yes, I know he wants to "repay mankind", but how, specifically, did he decide becoming a cop would be the way to go? If so, we need to get the word >out (maybe getting 2 mobils will REALLY get Sony's attention). Well, we seem to have interest. I've had at least 10 people volunteer already, so let's go for it folks! Viper (75052.2262@c.......) and Bonnie (bonnie@o.......) have both volunteered to collect folded cranes and string them into mobiles. Please, could you two figure out where you are, geographically? If (as I hope) you're on opposite sides of the US, we could divide up the crane donations that way, and have less chance of them being damaged in-transit to you. Let me know what you work out. Those wanting to participate, check out the following websites for folding instructions: http://www-personal.umich.edu/~adysart/origami/crane1.html http://jw.stanford.edu:80/KIDS/SCHOOL/ART/origami/kids_origami You can probably get origami paper at any art/craft store, but if you can't any good quality, thin paper *will* work. I've folded cranes from everything from Christmas wrap to typing paper, but thinner paper is better. Also, we want this to look nice, so try to find nice-looking paper. Viper, who apparently has some experience with this, suggests 7.5 cm squares, to keep the mobiles from being unreasonably large. Anybody out there know what that is in inches, for the metrically-challenged? <g> When we know where Bonnie & Viper are, we'll let you know who to contact (depending on geographic location) for mailing addresses. If you do want in, please *private E-mail me*, so we know whether we have enough people for this project to work. Remember, if everybody does 10 cranes, we need 100 people for each "wishing crane mobile". Frankly, I'd like to be able to send one to *each* of the three Sony execs listed under "Sony USA" on Karen Tobin's list. To do that, we need 300 people willing to fold 10 cranes apiece. I'll try to get a web page up on this tomorrow, after work (it's already past my bedtime) so Jamie only has to add a link to the FK page. Please, could whoever is keeping AOL, Compuserve, Prodigy, and any other service I've forgotten updated (I've got the list somewhere, but I can't lay hands on it at the momemt) post a notice once I've got a URL established? And remember, as you fold your cranes, *wish for a fourth season*. Concentrate on that *and nothing else* as you fold! He played Brother Anthony, a lowlife creep with a scar on his left cheek, whose girlfriend liked to cut people with a razor. (I just read that last sentence back and it sounds like a twisted nursery rhyme.) Very, very unpleasant guy. Nigel did a great job portraying his viciousness. He made me hate Brother Anthony. I've heard in the background since at the Raven and I just loved it. Ofcourse, it also reminds me of the few times where the tag has a happy Nick, pleased with himself for a change. Tonight I'll be folding cranes for FK like many of you, and although I *love* the idea of the 1000 crane mobiles and am participating in that project, I'm gonna hold out a few cranes to send in individual letters to Sony execs, timed to arrive about the same time as the mobile. I think if we all did this, it would stress that there are a *lot* of us out here, not just one crane-folding-fanatic! Then I'm gonna fold *one more crane* and hang it above my computer monitor, as a constant reminder of how much enjoyment this list has given me. I seem to recall an ep where he goes up to the captain or the chief in about 1920 or so and hypnotizes him into thinking he (Nick) is transferring from somewhere else. No Academy as far as I know (but what I don't know could fill up a whole book). And as I also recall, he was using a rather strange Irish accent at the time... Can anyone clarify this? I'm not doing a very good job explainig. >(Yes, I know that there is such thing as allergy to sunlight (I have a mild >case), but it's still hard to believe.) I can't spell it worth a darn, but it's something like poryphria or porphyria. The people who have it get all blistered up in the sun after just a couple minutes exposure. As far as writing to Sony about the buy-out, you should go with your on conscience on that one as to whether or not to mention it. There was an initial mix up as to the source, but we do now know where it came from (Future-Stars published by Michael Garrett). However, since this service is extremely expensive and exclusive be aware that we might simply not be able to get an actual copy of the article, although we do have the content from a *very* reliable source. And "Future-Stars" is reportedly a reliable service. Incidentally, I don't think the third party was named in that report either, so we may either never know, or we'll have to find out through other channels. For myself, I *did* mention the buyout, and asked Sony if they could please explain to me why TriStar didn't take it, and also politely asked them to reconsider their decision. I also mentioned the complete lack of response from TriStar, and also that it seemed as though we were deliberately mislead about the cancellation and the importance of February sweeps. I also mentioned it in my letters to the affiliates. I've also decided to put "Personal" on my next letter to Jon Feltheimer, so there'll be a better chance *someone* at TriStar will read it. I didn't like the report that said our mail was getting shipped over to the Paragon LA office (and how in the heck do they know it comes from us anyway?). Sharon -- Sharon Himmanen * romana@p........ It does seem to me that it might be more effective if SONY got a lot of cranes from all over the country, and I like the idea of including one or two in our individual letters to Sony as well as sending a bunch to the people who are putting them together. Well, recently a close friend became a fan of the show (A definite Natpacker!) and would like to have the episodes she has only heard about from me. As her twentieth wedding anniversary is this year, I decided that to try to get her some copies. Only problem is that I didn't copy the tapes when I had them (only one VCR, got to get that corrected). So if there is some nice person out there willing to make copies of first and second season for me to give my friend, I would gladly pay for blank tapes and postage. You're sitting in your Fundamentals of Advertising class and your mind has started to wander from your Prof's monotone chattering. My ears, however, pricked right up when he said the words "creative vampire" (these are a kind of commercial that you really remember the commercial itself but not what it was for; the commercial is so creative it sucks the message out.) First thing that springs to mind is a mental image of Nick sitting at a drafting board, shirt sleeves rolled up and collar loosened, cranking out storyboards for the presentation for the new client! I called them up Friday (in a fit of guilt becoming any red blooded Knightie since I hadn't called since the trouble began) and found that we aren't alone! The guy I talked to said they have been getting a lot of calls from fans of the show and apoligized about making us miss last week's ep (some cheezy excuse about having to fit in a movie according to a contract and the FK spot seeming to be the only place to put it in) When asked about picking it up for a forth season, he said that the word was it was over with, but with all the response from viewers, they would ask for it and that they were keeping a file on everyone who had called or written in concerning the show! Someone may actually be taking notice of our efforts! Cool!
