For FK, it depends on the story. For the most part I like Classical or Baroque violin, Rachmaninoff piano concertos, or run through the full catalogue of the Beethoven Symphonies (that's for the looong stories). There are certain pieces, however, that tend to work with certain stories. "Knight in Hell" was written with Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances #45, #2 in mind, because for me it emptimozes the unknowing descent into madness. When writing Nick's POV, I usually have Depeche Mode's "Songs of Faith and Devotion" or "Violator," "Sanctuary" by the Damned, or "Oingo Boingo Live". For Natalie I tend to use "Titanic Days" or anything else by Kirsty MacColl as a focus, not to forget "The Best of Ultravox". LaCroix's POV I tend to use classical violin or piano. Janette, too, more often than not has been classical for me. Also thanks to anyone who wrote to the list (I haven't gotten to read my digests yet this morning) who I don't know about yet. I think that when I switched from USA to my syndicated station (once I found out they were still showing FK) I somehow missed an episode. (three seasons to the wind) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Feb 1996 09:55:43 -0800 From: Ida K Egenberger <egenberi@w.......> Subject: Spoiler: Human Factor Was anyone else sobbing during the commercial after Janette got shot and was stuck in the fire telling Nick not to bring her across? I know I can't be the only one. As happy as I was that Janette was brought across again the story still bothers me. I like the fact that Janette chose de Brabant as her last name. Even though she says she left because of Nick she still took something that maybe made her feel closer to him. And why couldn't Nick sense that Janette was mortal? Couldn't he sense that their bond was gone? Nat also seemed more surprised than Nick to find out that Janette was mortal. That was probably due to *major* frustration. She works on Nick for 4 years trying to get him to reach mortality and the one person you would never suspect to want to become mortal does it in a few months. Poor Nat. And especially the way Janette did it! Horribly poor Nat! Also, it just doesn't seem right for Janette to be 'swept off her feet' by a fireman, much too cliche for her. She'd need someone like a misunderstood prince from a small unknown country somewhere in the alps. The one thing that made me happy is at least having Nicholas as Janettes 'master' instead of LaCroix. At least we know he'll give her more freedom than LaCroix would with her knew quest, if she decides to pursue being human again. I'd like to say that I *loved* Ger's direction on this one but I can't. That's not to say that I didn't like most of it. Janette's flashbacks while walking down that long flight of stairs was down well. However, he pulled one of those C&C scenes with the camera circling Nick and Janette when they are reunited. That just made me dizzy. Another good thing, Patrick. He might grow up to be as good an actor as his dad. I'm glad Ger gave Galen the chance to be in his dad's show. Even though it seems like nepotism I love it when actors bring their children on the job. Did anyone notice during the credits that the soundtrack is available? Is that really true now or were they jumping the gun? If it's now available for release give me the number, I want at least 3 of them! That, I believe, is my longest post in a long time! Then why would he want to bring any *human* across. Seems to me that that would be akin to me wanting to make a cow a human. If vampires only saw humans as food, why would there be any more than one vampire? At least bringing over your *food* seems pretty perverse to me. :) Does that mean that FK vampires can be equated (when bringing over mortals they like) to lonely shepherds with nothing but sheep for company (if you take my "adult" meaning ;) )? If FK vampires can value some humans as more than "food", then, outside of perversity, it seems to me that to "kill" other humans for "food" *is* murder. --Sandra Gray, forever Knightie --tmp_harkins@d....... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Feb 1996 13:11:24 -0500 From: "Alora C. Chistiakoff" <acc0924@i.......> Subject: Stake Feltheimer!<kinda long> I am relaying my sister's encounters from this mornings phone call spree. First things first: She called the local syndie, KFTY-TV50 in Santa Rosa, California, and spoke with the general manager, John Burges, and he told her that (a) he didn't know *anything* about what was going on (that does explain why we never got any response to our letters), and (b) the stations contract with Columbia/TriStar expires in mid-September and that he was told (by them?) not to expect it to be renewed. Kira explained to him that the future of the show depended on the syndies going *out of their way* to ask for a fourth season. He said that even though he has already made preliminary plans to fill the time slot he said he would reconsider if given a fourth season...he also promised to call TriStar. His number, for anyone in No. California (or anyone else who doesn't mind the long distance) is (000) 000-0000. They currently run the show at 9:00pm Saturday night (better than most time slots). Second, and not so encouraging: Kira then called TriStar, and she was told that all calls concerning FK were to go to Jim Parriott, they even gave her his number. So, knowing that she wasn't going to get any cooperation from them she called. She said JP's secretary was really sweet and helpful; she also said that the TriStar people were full of it, they were just re-routing calls to JP so they wouldn't have to deal with it. And she gave Kira Feltheimer's number, (000) 000-0000, (*his* number to bypass the switchboard...I'm sure it has already been posted). JF's secretary, however, was not nearly as nice or as cooperative, and it took all of Kira's self-restraint not to let her have it. Tip: If you call JF's office remember SHE IS SCREENING HIS CALLS! (No big surprise, really, any good secretary does it, but still...ggrrrr!) So, if you really want to talk to him don't mention FK, because he is *not* taking any calls about the show. Other than that: the only San Francisco station to air the show is KOFY-TV20. They have really wierd hours for their programming dept., but the number is (000) 000-0000. The General Manager's name is Mike Lincoln (I don't think they take calls until 3:30...and then only for hour or something...). And KOFY airs the show at 11:00pm Saturday nights (still better than a lot of time slots). Sorry I don't have anything more encouraging...I'm off to donate some blood.
