The SOS-FK web page seems to be missing actually. I can't get into
either. I've tried doing it through my own bookmark in Netscape
as well as throught Yahoo. This isn't good! Somebody, anybody...
get the word to whoever needs to fix it to do so. Please!

None. I need silence to write. Music involves me too much; all
my concentration goes into whatever fantasy/emotional scenario comes out
of what I'm hearing, nothing independent left over to write with. (Gee,
it sounds like hypnosis or something -- but I can't listen to music and

asked me to pass it along.
She's looking for an FK story for a 'zine she's doing. She didn't specify
how or short she wanted it or what kind she wanted (ADULT or not) so if you're

of her you can try me but I wouldn't if at all possible. (My time is *severly
limted this semester)

Okay, okay, calm down...
The SOS-FK web page would be my department. I'm not "the SFK Webgoddess"
for nuthin'. <g>
It seems that the last time I went in there to update the counter tally, I
must've done something wrong, and/or AOL was having problems and my upload
didn't 'take'. It's since been fixed; the page is up again.
Cost us a day's worth of hits (grrr) but the counter, fyi, is now up to
15,450. The page, btw, has been up for 48 days. Not too shabby, for a
group of fans that according to the Nielsens and TriStar, doesn't exist...

TNT? I can't find any mention of TNT showing Airwolf anywhere in my TV
listings. Isn't TNT a national cable company like USA? "In the Heat of the
Night" is what is listed for TNT at that time (6 pm CT=4 pm PT). Or is there
more than one TNT??

In _Path_Notes_of_an_American_Ninja_Master_ (by Glen Morris) on page 141,
there is an exchange between the author and Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi, the 34th
generation grandmaster of Togakure Ryu ninjutsu (as well as grandmaster
of all eight other surviving ninjutsu traditions). Dr. Morris enquired,

To clarify the connection to Forever Knight, would it not seem then that
part of Nick's difficulties is that his need to be able to draw energy
has become sublimated in blood drinking? If this were the case, then it
seems to me that Nick should be engaging in heavy-duty meditative
practices. On the other hand, given how easily he is given to
disappointment and depression, I doubt that he has the stamina and
self-discipline to work the meditation over the course of months or a few
years. There's an irony there. Nick, because of his imortality has more
time to devote to rigorous meditation than a human; but, his character is
such that he surrenders too easily. I suspect that if Nick were to learn
to draw energy, that he would also be able to submerge his sensitivity to
sunlight and other vampiric disabilities. In short, he would be able to
function as a mortal. He'd still be immortal; but, would that really be
such a bad thing?
I welcome your thoughts.

I'm saying I don't believe in "the beast within." I think it is a myth
that creates guilt, validates the power of Church and State over us, and
excuses things like murder, rape, and war (you know, "the beast" has to be
let out to "play" every once in a while). That's what I think on the
"intellectual" level, at least. But on a more intuitive or emotional (or
irrational) level, the "beast within" is as real to me as gravity, and
*that*, I think, is why I find Nick (and vampires in general) so
interesting. If I were to write a scholarly paper on FK and the beast
within, I'd be tearing up the whole notion of the beast within, especially
if I took a Marxist approach, condemning it as an oppressive ideology
employed to reinforce the subjection of the masses to "higher, more
rational powers" or something. But let's say I presented this paper at a
professional conference and someone asked me, "Well, if you hate this so
much, why is it that you describe specific scenes and episodes of FK with
such delight--didn't I see you smacking your lips while you discussed
Nick's battle with the beast in episode X?" Obviously my whole analysis
would come crashing down from its lofty heights, wouldn't it?
Does this make any sense? Again, I *resist* the notion that "the beast
within" exists; but at the same time, I am irresitably drawn to that
beast and hopelessly fascinated by Nick's struggle against it.

When I asked if LaCroix had a conscience, I guess I was asking if he had his
own set of internal morals he followed. Obviously, he doesn't believe in
mankind's morals, but I have to wonder if he has a set of his own, or if he
simply does whatever strikes him.
LaCroix seems to view other vampires as being people (I won't say his equals,
because somehow I don't think he views anyone as being his equal <vbg>).
However, if one of them p*ssed him off and he wound up killing them, I
really can't see him wracked with guilt. This aludes to Tippi's "cultural
relativity" remark. Since LaCroix believes other vampires are people,
wouldn't killing one be an immoral act, even for him? Has the FK ever shown
him killing another vampire? If so, did he seem at all disturbed?

Dan Simmon's book on vampires and Dracula, which my amazing memory cannot
recall :o , has some interesting theories on this very subject. Has anyone
else read it?
I'm not a doctor by any means, but I think some actual science was involved. : )
