Now there's an interesting question, "Can vampires get tatooed?" On the one
hand they are unfazed by most physical damage, so can the needle get into them
and deposit the dye? Also, their recuperative powers would probably just
eradicate the foreign material from their bodies, but unless it were ejected
(not a pretty thought), they would have to assimilate it.

If they don't eject or eradicate it, then the tatoo would remain. Man you'd
have a hard time using dermabrasion or laser to eliminate a tatoo from a being
that heals about as fast as he is injured.

Any thoughts?

Well on one episode of FK i've saw that Janette got a tatoo i
dind't see if it evaporated or went away but i did see her get one, the
guy(can't remember who) fooled it up, and she just said that he'll have
to start over again, i guess she mean't that i would disappear in time.

Remember in Faithful Follower when Nat goes to the Raven to talk to
Janette. Janette is in the process of getting a tattoo, and the guy
doing says to her "if I stop now I'll have to do it all over again,"
and Janette replies, "That's half the fun." It seems that if they do
get tatted, the effects are temporary.

HE'D MISS HIS POWERS AT FIRST? Nick could not survive without his powers. He
had been a vampire for 800 years. He'd be dead in a week. "Nick look out for
that car, that bomb, that falling safe..." He would have to unlearn the
reflexes of a lifetime and relearn how to be mortal again. I think the shock
of being severed from the _vampire net_ (for a lack of a better phrase), is
going to send him into severe mental shock.

Hi all --

I made an extra tape of Nigel Bennett's guest appearance on "Friday the
13th." His episode, "Butcher," was shown yesterday on the Sci-Fi Channel.
He was quite scary, by the way. He had quite a few lines, and most of
them were in German (subtitled in English, of course)! If you're one of
Nigel's fans (who isn't?) and would like a copy, e-mail me off-list at
percy91@w....... and we'll work out a trade.

Interestingly enough, his character in this episode also spends some time
as a radio show host.

Now if i remember my 1st season episodes from CBS, there was a scene
where Nick goes to the Raven to see Janette and a guy is giving her a
tattoo. She stops him and he complains. She says something like "You
can do it all over tomorrow..." I believe they just disappear off the skin.

It was still alive when I fished it out.

But it expired as you stared at it. So you dissected it, to determine if
it died of drowning, being immersed in a heated liquid, or of cholesterol or
caffeine poisoning. It was a very Natalie thing to do.

It was still alive when I fished it out.

And then you casually crushed the life out of it without a second thought.
It was a very LaCroix thing to do.

It was still alive when I fished it out.

And then you ate it.
It was a very Renfield thing to do.

It was still alive when I fished it out.

And then you stared at it. <blink. blink. blink.>
It was a very Vachon thing to do.

It was still alive when I fished it out.

And then you pounced on it and batted it back and forth across the table.
It was a very Sydney thing to do.

It was still alive when I fished it out.

And then you affixed it, with a cunning tassel and irridescent ribbon, to
your jacket. It was a very Janette thing to do.

It was still alive when I fished it out.

And then you screamed "eeeeee-yeeeew!!!!" and passed out. It was a very
Tracey thing to do.

Laura (Apache) then wrote

And then you hung it up on the line and drained the ichor into a cup.
It was a very Screed thing to do.

Jamie's reply:

Except that there was no ichor. The fly was empty. No drink.

It was a very Reese thing to do.

And from Apache:

And then you demanded a full report, on your desk, yesterday!
It was a very Cohen thing to do.

And then you got grease from your souvlaki all over the report.
It was a very Schanke thing to do.

Jamie's response went like this:

And then I sold the fly to the highest bidder.

It was a very Mercenary thing to do.

And then I posted the fly to the AOL FK boards so that someone would
cross-post it to the FORKNI list for me.

It was a very JP thing to do.

Jamie, who is truly delighted that we've gotten so much mileage out of that

Hi, folks. This is your pesky third-season newbie searching for additional
FK info. I've read in a number of FK fanfic pieces about Nick and other
vampires shedding drops of blood instead of tears. Is this something that's
happened or been discussed on the show (if so, what ep?), or is it just a
generally-accepted attribute of vampires in general? Thanks for tips.

Subject: Nick and Children

This is a break from lurking...Because I was interested in discovering
what was being done to save FK, I joined the lists last week - so I
haven't bee lurking very long. Please excuse my ignorance if this
question has come up already or been answered on the show itself; I only
started watching in December and immediately became hooked.

There are repeated references to Nick wanting to have children. I find
the implication (that he has _never_ had children puzzling.) Although it
has been a long time, as a former SCA and Pittsburgh Medievalist member,
I did a great deal of research into medieval meors. At the age Nick
apparently was when he was brought over, and as a knight of that time
period, several possibilities strikeme (caveat though, I am doing this
from memory _many_, I mean _many_, years after doing the research):

A. He was an itinerant knight who fought for whomever hired him. As a
crusader he would be in the service of his liege lord, at home he would
live in his lord's castle with other knights who were also landless. He
probably would not have been able to afford a wife. Therefore he would
have not _legitimate_ children. Those born on the wrong side of the
blanket could be legion though. This would also mean he did not
distinguish himself enough to be granted land or to have won it (he would
have been in service for about 20 years including the Crusades since he'd
have been in his teens when he started.) That he sould fail to
distinguish himself seems unlikely since he's apparently drawn to danger
and chance-taking.

B. He was a landed knight, either through his service and/or heroism, or
because he is the eldest son of his noble family. In this case, by his
late 20's at least, he would have married. It would even be conceivable
that he would that he would have been married in his teens - even early
teens - if his father was a noble and needed to cement an alliance. The
major goal of marriage then was to produce many children. His wife would
have been chatelaine of his castle, running it in his absence during the
Crusade. If I'm not mistaken, at this time period even betrothals (which
involved the taking of vows in the church) could last several years and
result in several children. When the couple married, the children stood
with them, making the _legitimate_. Aside from that, it is almost
inconceivable that Nick would not have a number of illegitimate children,
some of whom he might even have officially acknowledged. It is even
quite possible, that if he married very young to cement an alliance, thus
having children while in his teens, he, too, might have needed to marry
his son or daughter off to another lord's child, and was a grandfather by
the time he was brought over. Of course his wife could have died early
on due to anything including child-birth.

*Additional thought - as an itinerant knight, it would have been easy to
transfer his allegience to his new liege lord, LaCroix.

*Another thought - if he did have children, could he conceivably run into
his own decendant - perhaps someone who had traced their geneology back
to him or beyond?

Any reactions?

Nancy Fralic
