Another Important Question <tm>:

Um, I was just wondering what kind of car Dr. Lambert drives.
They have shown more than once a gray/silver Ford Taurus
outside Nick's loft when Nat is supposed to be there. But isn't
that Tracy's car? I thought Nat drove something else . . .

Waiting for the many List Experts' responses, :)

Did anyone read L.M.Boyd's "The Grab Bag" in the paper this weekend? I quote:
"Alexander the Great, Louis XIV, and Napoleon hated cats, it's said,
because those imperious potentates couldn't stand creatures that didn't come
when called."

I think LaCroix falls nicely into the "imperious potentate" catagory.
Perhaps he would be fascinated by an ant farm or maybe sea monkeys. But
then again, LaCroix already has the Cousins, at least *they* come when called.

Okay, fanfic help needed: what's a good tropical island to get a divorce
on? I'm trying to send some people on vacation, but I need a quickie
divorce place too. Vegas is out--- is the Dominican Republic one of those
countries? Any extra info on the island in question, or just an answer,
will earn you a cameo in the story. :)

And who'll be taping the Geminis? And who had copies of last year's awards?
I'd love a dub of them. BTW, whoever asked---Catherine Disher was nominated
for UNDUE PROCESS and I WILL REPAY, I believe. Anyone want to confirm for
the '94 nominations?

Boy, have I been watching too much FK. I saw this in the Feb. 1996 edition of
Premiere Magazine "Unless you've been sitting under a pile of Lacroix
frocks, you probably know that..." My first thought was "Now that LaCroix has
taken over Janette's Raven he's now taken her fashion statements!" However
when I recovered my senses, I realized it was referring to Christian Lacroix,
the designer.

Gentle newbies, what *I* did to get tapes was to use private email to
badger--- er, ask <G> everyone who'd ever been unfortunate enough to post
that they had all of first season, either on-list, or on the AOL boards. I
got half a dozen replies that way from lovely fans. I won't pass along the

someone will respond.

Don't let me hear of *anyone* paying $150 for this "privilege"!!! <wags

Squirt guns. Everyone with the waterguns and super-soakers. And from what
I've heard, the crew loves 'em. Which I REALLY don't understand,
considering the fact that I know from personal experience that waterguns
and electronic equipment do *not* mix...

I vividly remember the production of Midsummer Night's Dream where we (the
crew) used up three-quarters of the dry ice supply by dumping it into the
toilets and watching it steam... and then there was the incident with the
thirty-six 9-volt batteries from the wireless mics, forty minutes before
showtime... Stage crews. Gotta love 'em.

But all the same, I feel somehow certain that the crew of Forever Knight
does not need any more squirt guns. :-)

Dear Jamie,

We received your package of 'Warm Fuzzies!' on set today!

Thank you very much for the greetings and the many 'Warm Fuzzies'.

Moments after opening the package, the 'Warm Fuzzies' spread throughout
the studio on to almost every set. They're everywhere! Don't be surprised
to see one or two in a future episode on Nick's fridge! They just love
refrigerators! Must be the temperature?

We are currently shooting episode #320. Our shooting days are very long
(on average 14-18 hrs each!).

So, a little 'warmth' goes a long way on set!

I can't stay much longer as we only have 10 hours off this morning. Then
we're in the Raven.

So thanks again and thanks for watching!

Best regards,

Mark & the rest of the crew!

He's got a nasty cold, and I'll bet the weather is simply atrocious up

Thought I'd share a giggle I had last night. I watched back-to-back
episodes of FK and Highlander (my favorite "young" immortals), last night on
 various Honolulu
stations. The first commercial after Highlander featured Annie Lenox
singing "Keep Young and Beautiful"....(Well, *I* thought it was a bit
ironic.) I started thinking "well, you can get brought across...or
you can get killed and find out you were supposed to be immortal,
anyway.") Nothing so romantic, though...it's for a news feature a
local channel is running on face lifts (and presumably, our obsession
with youth.)

Subject: flyering my own back yard

Hi, folks --

Well, I've been putting up my flyers around the local environs -- one at
the Ashby PO, one at the Country Store in Groton, two here in my own home
town. This may not sound like much, but it scares the willies out of me!!
Everyone has their own personal bogies -- some people on this list quail at
the thought of making phone calls. No problem here. Some people are
petrified of donating blood. No problem here. But putting up flyers with my
name and e-mail address on them so everyone will think I'm [even more of] a
nutcase [than they already do] -- *that's* scary! I mean, what if the next
time I stand up at Town Meeting, everyone laughs at me! I had to make two
stops to get up the courage to put a flyer in the pizza place in Groton
Center where the kids from Lawrence Academy would see it. But anyway. Still
trying to figure out where people in Townsend put up flyers!

When I did my church service this morning, during the "announcements"
part, I talked about SOSFK! I hope everyone will understand that I chose to
emphasize things like the blood drive and the Pedriatric AIDS Foundation, but
people seemed interested to hear about it.

About WFXT -- I am still confused. They ran WWF Wrestling last night at
midnight, as listed, and I had to go to bed after that so I wouldn't fall
asleep [even more than usual] in the pulpit this morning. I doublechecked
some old TV Guides today to confirm that FK should have been on at 1:00, if
it was on. The Guide listed "Lazarus Man" last night; tonight I'm just going
to pop in a tape and go to bed. We'll see if FK is on tonight at *any* time
between midnight and 5:00am!

I've been asked to bring everyone's attention to a charity similar to
the Pediatric AIDS cause. This is "Grandmother's House", a home-like care
shelter for abandoned infants with AIDS that was started up in Washington DC
about a decade ago. I'm sorry that I don't have an address, but Washington
area people should be able to find them in the phone book. They really need
support -- these are kids with no family and no hope at all. They'd love to
have donations from Friends of Forever Knight! I promised I would pass this
on [and I was in church at the time, so...]. Just a thought.

OBFK -- I've really been wanting to discuss something about "Close
Call", and I've been waiting until the SOSFK push fades back a little. I'll
probably just get told that this question was sufficiently pureed on FKSPOILR
at the time... but it's been on my mind, and I'd like to hear some other
people's opinions. I'll post it in a bit.

Carrie Krumtum writes:

>I also think that there has been an evolution in LaCroix perception of his

I've been wondering if the events in AMPH had some kind of deep effect
on LaCroix. That's somewhat connected to what I'd like to discuss regarding
CC, but, also, there has been comment on the 3rd season's LaCroix being a bit
more "loose" (sometimes articulated as, "that was Nigel, not LaCroix," a
statement Nigel would probably contest). This can certainly be one result of
an experience that deeply shakes one's basic assumptions.

However, I will still go forward with the plans for sending them to the

wrote:

>From private email with a newbie who begged for tapes some time ago, I

?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!!

This is not only illegal, it's utterly appalling.

First of all, copying tapes for friends AT ALL is a legally shaky concept.
But we do it anyway, because we are all fans, and on this list, we are all
friends; and we cannot stand the idea of our compatriots being deprived of
the joys of past FK. We copy tapes for the same reasons we write fiction
and post spoilers and make bitmap wallpaper and wavs and gifs and icons:
because we love Forever Knight, and we love sharing "the FK experience"
with each other; and the only profit we want or need is the happy smiles on
each other's faces.

In a situation like this, it is reasonable to expect reimbursement for the
cost of tapes and postage; but to receive ANY money above and beyond the
bare-bones cost of supplies is quite literally stealing -- because you are
selling something that is not yours to sell.

I honestly do not know if there is a specific list rule covering this
subject; but AS AN INDIVIDUAL I find this situation to be totally
reprehensible. I do know that there are basically only two general rules
of the forkni lists: 1) Thou Shalt Not Waste Bandwidth or Cause Technical
Difficulties, and 2) Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You --
everything falls into one of those two headings -- and in my view, charging
over 300% of the cost of copying FK tapes does not fit into that second
category at all.

Around here, we are *friends* -- and in plainest terms, you do not
(expletive deleted) your friends.

I strongly urge EVERYONE not to deal with these people -- and to please
forward any e-mail about such scams to me at immajer@p....... -- and if
(after discussion with Jaye) it is decided that listowner action is
warranted, such action will be taken.

To those without tapes: Don't worry. People will get you first and second
season tapes. It may take a little while -- what with the SOSFK and all,
we're all kind of fried -- but SOMEONE will get you tapes. For cost. Or
maybe even less. Not for profit, but because *we want you to see them*.

That's the kind of people we are. That's the kind of list this is. We are
THE FRIENDS OF FOREVER KNIGHT... that's not just words; it's what's made
this list so remarkable that I went out and bought a computer specifically
so that I could sign onto it. It's why, against all odds and with only a
month's lead time, we were able to do things with the Save FK effort that
NO fan group has done before.

Because we are friends.

And friends *help* each other.

End of sermon. I love you all. Warm fuzzies!

Speaking of Fred.....

xeroxed copy of the artwork for Fred Mollin's CD? And..it will be
autographed by Fred himself!!!! Now..*theres* a challenge for you!
Get those parties going! Even if you can't have people over to your
house, maybe you could lend a tape to a co-worker AND tell them when they
can find FK and on which channel in your area. YOU could make up the
letter for them ad then have them sign it! Remember though, no form
letters, don't make up the same letter for all your friends, but you know
them well enough to know ther age and demographics.
Another list member reminded me that you should not forget your long
distance friends either! Your old college pals that you keep in contact
with, people from the old neighborhood and the new friends that you have
met on-line,some that maybe you've never met,but you can still "Bring 'em
across!"

Do I get credit for this, or something? You never know where you will

Subject: Boston TV Guide Wrong

Hello:

So much for the angry call to WFXT-Boston this morning.

They replaced the Saturday FK with WWF Wrestling, (the mother of all
slaps in the face), and the TV Guide said that they had done the same
with the Sunday night/Monday morning first-run episode. But they didn't,
so Boston fans should call off the phone assault. Hopefully WFXT will go
back to the regular schedule, and those of us who relied on TV Guide can
tape the Saturday rerun of last night's episode.

Keep the faith.

the child be born half vampire? Full vampire? Would it live at all???

Subject: Advice, please?

Dear FK list-pals,

I have finally figured out how to "unsubscribe" from this list, and I've
sent the command to FORKNI-L central. I have 48 hours to decide (more
like 36 hours now) whether or not to "okay" my unsubscribe order, and I'm
wondering . . . Can anyone on this list give me a good reason not to
unsubscribe?

I'm not interested in sexual fantasy FK calendars or *ass*essments of
Nick's/Vachon's/LaCroix's butt. I'm interested in the SOS campaign, but I
can get updates from the SOS loop. I guess what I'm asking is this: in
times of non-crisis, do you folks ever actually talk about *Forever
Knight*, the TV program? And if so, does the discussion ever get beyond
Character X's butt?

I do not ask this as an insult to people who like talking about Character
X's butt--I acknowledge that fandom must have its calendars and
butt-assessments. But I am asking a serious question, the answer to which
will decide whether or not I send the "okay" to cancel my subscription to
this list. I want to know, basically, if there is more to the discussions
on this list than I have seen in the past month. Again, I mean no insults
to anyone. (What interests me is based on my own tastes only--it is not
a judgment on everyone else's interests!)

Please--I NEED to know if discussion on this list ever focuses on what
happens on FK. I NEED to know what kind of conversation is typical on
this list in times of non-crisis. Please, someone . . . give me a reason
to stay subscribed to this list! I'm having a crisis myself, here!

Thanks.

Okay, I think there is DEFINATELY a market out here for FK calendars.
Anyone have any ideas on how we can get the shots we need, and how to put
together and market them. They'd go like fresh blood at the Raven. I'd buy
at least one of each.

And to our dear lurking cast member, if you are listening, perhaps you could

As to the inviting of Messers Bennet and Bass, and as someone who has
helped to run science fiction-related conventions, I'd just like to note that
it is a fairly common trick to publish a huge list of big names who have been
"invited to attend".

Of course, once the person involves declines, or asks for an appearance
fee larger than you are willing to pay, you're off the hook. Rarely do these
conventions send out follow-up flyers with a "sorry, but these people won't
be there" section.

Nevertheless, our favorite Uncle might de-lurk long enough to tell us
whether he is planning to attend.

I'm just wondering why neither Ms. Disher nor Ms. Duchene were invited.
I guess it's because they don't play vampires.

Subject: Calendar; tape selling

Two messages in one. It's too cold to use up much energy. :)

1. Most show calendars use scenes from episodes. If there really was
an FK calendar, what real scenes from real episodes would you like
to see? I can think of several right off. Janette and Emily Weiss
in Stranger than Fiction, the part where Emily can't see that Janette
is about to vamp out and bite her. Nick and Nat in the argument scene
from Only the Lonely. LaCroix in the scene from AMPH where he's telling
Nick, "I'll miss my Nicholas -- and my Janette."

2. Guys, let me second Jamie and at least one other poster. Selling
copies of FK tapes is illegal! Trading copies or even paying for the
tape on which to put the copies and the postage is iffy, but selling
copies for profit is something for which the seller could wind up in
jail. It's called infringement of copyright.

Also, it's not necessary. My full sets of both the US and Canadian
versions came from friends under a reimbursement only arrangement.
You don't need to put up with the shark. Jamie, if anyone forwards
you a copy, you have thought of reporting the shark to his/her postmaster,
haven't you?

And *PLEASE note*: it's no use asking me to make copies. I only have
one vcr.

Marg Y. (Hi!) posted that Parsec had an article on FK in their
Dec/Jan issue. After checking around here and finding nobody
carries the mag, I sent them an email.

A nice person replied that they have about 15 copies left, and
then asked how I learned about them and what is in the issue
that I want to see. Seems they've had numerous other such
requests in the last 2 weeks, and were curious why the sudden
interest in their mag started up in the US.

Of course, I explained the FK connection, and that we are a tad
obsessive about the show. I gather it's a small mag, and it's
published in Sudbury. Anyone else wanting a copy can try email
