Subject: My wild calendar

Well, I've had quite a few requests for tha FK calendar I mentioned a few
posts ago. ;) Remember the one? It was going to be a kinky calendar and I
said I couldn't post it for everyone to see. Well, I was just *kidding*! I
didn't think anyone would be interested! But since they ARE, I'm going to
see if I can put together some kind of calendar that combines FK gifs month
by month that I can put on disk. I'd be willing to trade these for tapes of
past eps (I have none of my own) -- providing I can pull it off! If not,
perhaps someone will trade tapes of eps with me anyway? (Beg, beg, drool,
pant!) Anyway, people interested in such a thing get in touch with me
offline! I'm not incredibly computer literate, so I'm not promising
anything... But I'll try! :) And if I can't do it with gifs, I will try to
do something really... interesting... with text!

Best,
Cousin Tippi

Subject: *First and Second Season Tapes!!!*

Hi, sadly-deprived newbies! <waves>

Sorry to get you to read this like that, it was a dirty trick, but someone
had to do it.

I do not have the capability to copy tapes at this point, but I have seen
many people pleading on-list for tapes. Unfortunately, many older
listers are pretty taped out by this point (or have had...um...
"equipment downsizing" problems [like me] recently) and are not
responding.

>From private email with a newbie who begged for tapes some time ago, I
know that there is *someone* out there contacting these newbies and
offering copies for *$150 per season*.

(Yes, any regular listers who are reading this,... that's *exactly*
what I said. <grrrrr.....!>)

Dear newbies, this is not only *completely illegal*, but contrary to
standard practice on the list. Copies are generally arranged privately
between consenting listmembers <g> *for cost of tapes and postage*--and
NO MORE. Anything else constitutes *selling* them, which, as mentioned
before, is very very illegal.

I'd like to think that this *&^%$ Shark will leave the list and stop preying
on desperate newbies, but I'm too much of a realist.

*Please do not accept/encourage/deal with this creep!*

I know you want tapes, but hang in there-- keep asking (private email
tends to get better results). (I'll warn you now, I can't do it. I
honestly would if I could-- and I *did* back when I had the set-up!--
but I can't now, so save your e-stamp! :-/ )

FOREVER KNIGHT REPORTER NEEDED

I would like to hire a reporter to cover the Forever Knight news this
month. That means to write that section of Mr. Data's Data. It should
be someone who has been subscribed to FORKNI-L for at least the last
few months, and also have access to both the Forever Knight newsgroups
and relevant web pages including the new ones dedicated to saving the
show. I have collected relevant newsworthy items from the Forever
Knight list, as well as several press releases, but I feel that someone
more connected to the on-line campaign to saving Forever Knight
than I am able to be right now, would be more qualified to write the
Forever Knight news. I am planning to start working on a new issue
early next week, and would send the reporter what relevant items I
have once hired. This position may just be for this issue, or for
several as needed.

If you are interested, please contact me at the address below, and
tell me about your connections to Forever Knight fandom, and your
writing/reporting experience. Thanks.

Subject: Note concerning "A Taste..."

I know some of you who belong to both FKFIC-L and JADFE are getting two
copies of "A Taste of Black Velvet" right now, so I thought I'd make a
suggestion...

There are two versions. The JADFE version, the one that *doesn't* list the
subject as ADULT because material to that list is all adult material already,
is the unedited version. The FKFIC-L version, which *does* list the subject
as ADULT in the subject line, is the edited version which has some language
cleaned up and some descriptive material in the sex scenes. But this only
applies to *some* parts of the novel.

The following sections have two versions: 3, 10, 12, 20, and 21. Therefore,
you may want both versions of these parts (postings, not chapter numbers).
Knowing this, you can safely delete the second copy of every other posting
because you will already know it is a duplicate. I wanted to post this story
to both lists, because the membership isn't identical, so I know you will
understand why some of you will get two copies of the sections. (In FKFIC-L,
you must have your topics set to ALL to receive the adult posts).
In summary, for example:
ADULT: " A Taste of Black Velvet" (10/29) - is the subject line for the
FKFIC-L one
"A Taste of Black Velvet" (10/29) - is the subject line for the JADFE
version.

Hope you're enjoying my slide into darkness...

Just a few things on a few subjects...

Firstly, on the subjects of calenders:

Forget the strategic foliage... I'd just like Vachon posing as
Michelangelo's David. ::wicked grin::
----------------------------------------------------

And then we move on to phone calls:
----------------------------------------------------
Bonnie Pardoe also wrote (edited):
>The guy at the Media Relations department was **EXTREMELY** rude!!! He
>made it very clear that he didn't want to talk to me. The first thing out of his

I have read from you all too many reports of this kind of behavior.

If he had said this to me, the response would have been Cousinly, to say
the least. The proper response to this question is "No, that's not all. I
was wondering if you have a supervisor that I could speak to. I wonder if
they realize how you treat their customers."

Yes, we want our show to survive but we put our money in their coffers and
they owe us their courtesy. While I agree that being nice <cousinly shiver>
will get us more than being rude, we aren't just fans for them to walk on.
My children, my people... who are not doormats. ::grins::
----------------------------------------------------

And finally, they're not just for breakfast anymore:
----------------------------------------------------
Uncle's dogs...

I'm not overly fond of the canine community. This is nothing against dogs,
but they just aren't my ideal pet. However there are some breeds I would
keep as a pet, and I think that if Uncle were to have a dog he might share
my reasons.

The best one I've seen so far is a Rhodesian Ridgeback. They were bred to
hunt lions and when I say they are big, I mean they are big. The one I saw
was seven feet standing up (with his feet on my shoulders). This one was
tan like a lion with a deep brown/blackish ridge of hair running down it's
back. I think they all come in the same color, but I'm not sure. An
impressive animal none the less.

Thank you for your time... and remember...

Well guys, the weather won! Carol Thompson called to say they have to
postpone due to the frozen streets and temperatures. I expected as much, and
was not too eager to go out in it. She'll determine this week when it will
come up again. I feel bad about missing a chance to get more flyers out
*this* week!

If you want to talk to Carol about anything, I have her phone number. I'll
post this to the list for the Dallas/Ft. Worth area because I don't have
everyone's address and don't know who all was going to go.

Sorry. Later... SLG

P.S. She did give me the url and fax number for Agi-con which will be held in
College Station in March. Its a Sci-Fi/fantasy event that evidently draws
media. I think March is probably too late for our current purpose, but since
they like Sci-fi/fantasy I can fax them a flyer and ask them to pass it
around. Worth the effort, at least.

Thought I'd catch two birds with one stone here -- first, sorry I used LC
instead of LCF -- frankly, it was a slip of the fingers, and it never
occurred to me how those initials would be interpreted. After all, how on
earth could a fictional character comment on the List -- now *Nigel* might,
but not LaCroix... (at least I don't *think* he could, unless Nigel was in
a teasing mood!)

Second, *I* won't send any more packages to the FK set, however I do have a
couple of cards congratulating GWD, NB, and CD on the Gemini nominations
which I would like to send, and a "canned California earthquake" that I
picked up in Denver to send to Ger because he's moving to California, and
because in that "not to be mentioned" tape that gets passed around, he seems
to be enamored of "shaking" as if an earthquake is in process. One *very
small* item... hopefully that won't be a problem.

Also -- I'm composing a little poem for the NATPE Seven, similar in style to
that which I tossed on you for the singing telegram challenge... prepare

A borzoi (Russian wolfhound) wouldn't last 20 minutes with
Lacroix. They've been bred down to such vapidity he'd kill it in disgust
in no time. (I say this as someone who *loves* the breed and has owned or
taken care of about thirty of the critters. They're just no geniuses.
Sweet, but dim, with the occasional rare exception. Think Urs.)

But I like the gazehound idea. The little Sicilian hound
now called an Italian greyhound (and they're geniuses!) was around and
was a popular pet in Roman times. So were, but only in Arabian countries
(someone expert correct me?) salukis, the dog now called an Ibizan hound,
the pharoah hound and the basenji. And maybe Afghan hounds, too? (but
they are also dim-bulbs nowadays.)

I also like the idea that he would have a big cat, like a jaguar
or a cheetah. They could snarl at each other.

A white tiger, maybe, in honor of our NATPE crew?

But the real answer is the one that someone posted first: dead.

After a little playing I got this working on my system, it's really neat,
sort of like playing LaCroix (I'd say God, but after what happened on the
Highlander list...)

if this is to replace the exit screens, back them up to say, .bmp since
that's what they really are. These 2 go in the c:\windows\system dir

Because of the funky dimensions I recomend the following:

1) Use Paint Shop Pro, it can be found at http://cwsapps.texas.net/ in the
win 95 section (get psp 3.11), you can use the win 3.x ver, the win 95 ver
is 32 bit, that's all.

2)work with it in a standard screen dimension, I use 640x480

3)make it look what ever you want it to look like, just make sure that you
tell it to use 256 colours, not 16 million, not 2 not 16 (you can work with
it in 16 milion, like taken from a jpg, but make sure that you have it
reduce the number of colours to 256 when you do your final save)

4) after you have your image, then do a re-size to the apropriate dimension
of 320x400

5) save as logo.sys (using BMP, RGB encoded as the format) to c:\ or
whatever your primary boot disk is

6) enjoy!

Subject: BMV and C&C sounds

Okay, my friends, after numerous requests I've decided to put the
sound files I made from "Be My Valentine" and "Curiouser & Curiouser"
online for all with any sort of Cousinly tendencies to swoon over.

You can find them at http://www.dpcc.com/dpcc/assoc/lpetix/waves/ but
only for a limited time, as they take up lots of space which I need
for my other websites. Since they're BMV waves, I'll leave them up
until Valentine's Day. ;-)

One word of caution: some of the waves are *very* large. I
recorded them for my own pleasure, not with the idea of putting them
online. So, the nicest ones may take quite a while to download. There
are some absolutely breathtaking LaCroix monologues and scenes from
the Azure. For anyone who's had the misfortune of only seeing the
(okay, I think it's pretty dismal) third season, listen to LaCroix in
"BMV" and "C&C" and you'll know the stunning depths to which the
character can be taken when Nigel is given a chance to really *act*.
Some of you will remember that I was very emotionally opposed BMV
when it aired. I still am, but I still love it anyway. I could
listen to these sounds a thousand times (and it I probably have, in
the past few days, getting them ready to put online for you!).

        I do hate to disagree with a respected elder member of the FK list;
however, I did have an Italian Greyhound (they are miniature versions of
"real" greyhounds); Suka was the stupidest animal it was ever my misfortune
to own! I had gotten her from a breeder in New Jersey who had been written
up in Greyhound books; the animal had one blue eye, one brown eye, one
testicle, was deaf in one ear and had half a brain! She would wind herself
up in circles chasing her tail (which is very thin like a Whippet) and bark,
excuse me, yelp! for a half hour at a time! She jumped an 8 foot fence just
for exercise. Never again!!!
Currently, I have Widget (my little guy), Rocky, a Golden Retreiver
and Sunflower, a Kuvasz (Hungarian mountain dog sort of like the Great
Pyrenees, only bigger). I love dogs but I would gladly have offered Suka to
Screed for an appetizer!

I apologize to the list for this but I am trying to locate

wondering if anyone else did or if Pat is still on the list?

Subject: IWTR Ratings: Week of 1/22

I found this on one of the alt.tv groups; maybe we can get Forever Knight on
the list? I am only including the first 15 shows; however it is
interesting that #15 is Due South which was just recently resurrected!

In order to drum up support for The InterWeb Television Ratings, and to
announce its move to a more permanent location, I will begin posting
weekly results here. You can come to your own conclusions as to what they
really mean. However, more people are needed to make them effective.

For more information about IWTR, see

        http://interweb.uml.edu/IWTR/

The numbers below are as follows:

Rank - Overall ranking for that week, based on Ratings points,
then
Share. Ties are listed in arbitrary order (the software does not
yet distinguish ties).

Ratings - Total number of viewers reporting.

Share - Percent of viewers reporting for that time period.

Numbers are only tallied for broadcast network prime time programming.
Weekly period begins on Monday.

Total Weekly Viewing Report for the week of January 22 1996

Number of reports counted: 103
Number of programs listed: 102

Any program below rank 69 did not receive any ratings points.

Check out the Atlantic Canadian Affiliate, ATV, at

They have a jpg image of Nick from season 1 (that's the season they're
showing). The image itself is at:

http://www.atcon.com/media/atv/prog/gallery/big/knight.jpg

Don't forget to leave an e-mail message at their feedback site at:

http://www.atcon.com/media/atv/feedback/feedback.html

I've written to them several times, encouraging them to keep showing the
show. I've never had any feedback yet, but they do seem to be advertising
it more and moved it from Monday night at 11:00 pm to Wednesday night at
11:00 pm

On Monday, it was up against Chicago Hope. Now it's up against American
Gothic and Law and Order. Personally, I think it will have less
competition on Wednesday night, so I see the new timeslot as a good move!

Everyone write, maybe someone can get a response out of them.

Subject: random thoughts

Hi, folks!

I just resumed classes on Wednesday, and I have a church service to do
tomorrow, so I'm cramming a bunch of things into one message...

I sent three more letters out, to Jon Feltheimer and Kay Kaplovitz, and
to the Programming Director of the local syndie, WFXT (you know, the famous
people who don't answer the phone). These were new letters, with sly
allusions to NATPE and the recent attacks on the Neilsens in them ;-}.
Printed on parchment calligraphy paper in fonts, they looked very sharp
(better than the last ones, I got the #$@*&! printhead adjusted properly this
time! :-p )

    INFO FOR NEW ENGLANDERS:

If you're in the general Boston area and/or live anywhere in New England
where you get Fox affiliate WFXT Channel 25 on your cable or satellite dish
system, you DO know that WFXT has been running FK since the beginning of
season 2, and now has it scheduled on both Saturday night at 1:00am and
Sunday night at midnight, right? Just checking! To tell them how wonderful
they are for doing this and how much you want them to continue, write or
call:

Mr. Jim Byrne, Programming Director
WFXT
[Address remvoed]

I got this useful information because I MADE A FLYER!! This is very
atypical of me, and I expect no kudos, given what all you other guerrilla
flyeristas have been doing. I designed it myself, and there's not too many
of them -- they're mostly to put around here in my home turf. But my
personal innovation is a little strip of tear-off tags at the bottom of each
with the *full* addresses for our close personal friends Jon and Kay, and
address/phone number for good buddy Jim at WFXT. I figured that people might
grab a strip who wouldn't stand there copying down phone numbers. The flyer
also has my e-mail address and the SOSFK home page. It's in neon-pink paper
and looks catchy, if I do say so myself. Now to get more than one posted.
Had the worst time getting them copied! What this country needs is more
copy shops!

I agree with those who say we must NOT permit Laurie Fenster to spend
$3000 of her own money on the bags and ad!!! Come on people -- I have NO
INCOME and I sent $20!! There's 800 people on this list left to chip in --
if you each sent $10 we'd be covered and then some. A *movie* costs $7.25
these days; pizzas and Chinese food will run you $10! Come on, you want
Laurie to have a controlling interest in SOSFK?? Goddess only *knows* where
that could lead! (G,R & D!!!)

But seriously, folks -- I am so excited to be part of all this, I've
been telling everyone about it, and I feel like I'm doing NOTHING AT ALL.
$10 is little enough -- even $7 or $5 if that's all you can manage. Some
people on this list have really put themselves on the line, and we're getting
RESULTS. We're playing with the big boys, and that takes money. I know it's
a dirty subject, especially for Americans, but alas -- you can't escape it.

All this discussion about calendars, shirtless Nicks and butt shots
(ahem) -- you sure can tell it's Imbolg, um-hmmm!! I'm really surprised that
no one has yet mentioned FK's greatest beefcake shot yet -- namely, the one
in AMPH when the camera goes crawling up LaCroix's bare leg. Practically
steamed up my screen! (Nice leg, too!)
