Subject: Sideburns

Not to change the subject or anything but this crosses my mind everytime
I watch and episode. Ok, so I'm into details, but has anybody noticed
what's going on with Nick's sideburns?

All season I've been watching Nick's (or maybe its GWD doing it) sideburns
get longer and longer. They've gone from mid-ear to ear-lobe length. And
I kept asking myself, whats he up to. Just looking for a change? Is this
gonna be a disguise? What?

Then it dawned on me. It's Schanke's influence. Yup, he's still with us
and he's making his presence known by having Nick grow out his sideburns
in honor of those first season sideburns Schanke used to have. So.. does
this mean he's going to start spiking his blood with souvlaki?

Ok, so I'm nuts...

The odd thing is that *I* am older than my husband; my feelings are
due to having grown up seeing rather wealthy, older, men, whose wives were
safely tucked at home, sporting thru town with girls 30 years younger than
themselves on their arms; I "know" what the guys were there for; I always
got the feeling that the younger girls (advisedly *not* women) were looking
for "Daddy".

According to the TV Guide FK is on at its usual times this weekend:
2.30am Sat/Sun on channel 55 and 1am Sun/Mon on Fox 5. Where was it you
saw that it wouldn't be on? Or am I completely misunderstanding?

Subject: Re: Calendar (Was Natpe/nielsens)

On Wed, 31 Jan 1996, Mark L. Elliott described a possible calendar project.

i saw a few things that needed to be corrected...

What i believe The Magister meant, what i believe it should be, follows:

JANUARY: Kay Koplovitz between two boxers

FEBRUARY: Screed in a black silk teddy with Vachon standing behind
him with his arms over his shoulders.

MARCH: Vachon wearing a Roman-style bath wrap comtemplating
                Urs' marble bust.

APRIL: A shirtless Screed looking at a rat lying on a Brass bed
with a sheet artfully covering its breasts and nether
                   region.

MAY: LaCroix standing in front of his closet in a pink chemise
trying to decide what to wear.

JUNE: Reese sunbathing in a string bikini.

JULY: Schanke sunbathing in a one-piece.

AUGUST: LaCroix standing in front of a grill
with Vesuvius in the background, wearing an apron
that says "Kiss the Cook." (inspired by Nig's CCC gifts)

SEPTEMBER: Cohen stepping out of a tub, all dripping, with just a
                    towel covering her.

OCTOBER: Stonetree shirtless, vamped out, with a nubile young
                   maiden.

NOVEMBER: Tracy looking hungrily at a sundae, with Vachon looking
                   distracted in the background.

DECEMBER: A die-cast photo of everybody.
(ouch. but then we'd all have life-sized LaCroixs,
Nicks, Nats, Janettes, etc to cuddle up to)

Yes.... Yes, i think that looks about right now.

I have to agree with Cyndi. I can't stay up from 1:00 AM to 2:00 AM every
Sunday night; I would be incapable of getting up for work the next morning.
We've been forced to tape the show and rewatch it the next day. This sounds
fine, until you realize that half the time, the local station pushes the
entire show schedule back even further (!!!) if a football game runs late.

How much older? Really old? Really, really, really old? i can't really think
of anyone old enough for LaCroix, actually. Okay, put my mom next to him and
they look about right (which would actually be really frightening to me)
but, heck, even my mom is too young for Vachon, age-wise. :)

And, anyway, what i'll find suspicious is for someone who'll date men *just
because* they're older, younger, rich, yada.

No, i actually have a serious answer (and it's an applicable one, too, as
i'm 'young' in this context and LaCroix is such a fogie): that/those voice,
wit, intelligence, stories, eyes, lips, confidence, and (the number one
reason LaCroix is so hot) a forever tight butt.

Mr. Parriot. Now, honestly. Could we *please* get Nigel on-screen in jeans?
No, wait, i have a better idea. Make me head costumer - no, a regular script
contributor - and *i'll* put him in jeans. No, i'll make him flashback to
his days in the Russian ballet. Then i'll costume him. i'm currently taking
requests on colours for the tights.

JANUARY: LaCroix in black jeans and no shirt, looking out over a

FEBRUARY: LaCroix and Nick standing back to back, both in black
                silk pajama bottoms
MARCH: LaCroix lying on black silk sheets, with a flotkati draped
                over his hips
APRIL: Nick with a towel around his hips, looking around, while

MAY: LaCroix in a toga, standing over a bed where Natalie

sheets being blown against their bodies by a high power
                fan.
September: LaCroix, in leather trousers, holding up an apple and
ruler, Nick in the background in jeans, facing away,
standing in the corner wearing a dunce cap.
October: The full cast in leather bikini underwear.
November: LaCroix in black pajamas, sitting in front of a fire,
vamped out with Natalie in a white negligee on one side
and Janette in black on the other.
December: Nick in black silk boxers, cowering from various

Subject: Deja Vu-Who

According to a source reporting on the upcoming DR WHO TV movie (due to debut
in May), the Doctor makes his return in a vaguely familiar fashion:

"As previously reported, Paul McGann stars as the eighth Doctor, who begins
his tenure eight minutes into the new film on an operating table in a San
Francisco hospital. His companion for the movie is Dr. Grace Holloway ,
played by Daphne Ashbrook, a heart surgeon (who's of course surprised that
the Doctor has *two* hearts)."

Good thing she isn't a Forensic Pathologist, at least...

(For those interested, Sylvester McCoy reprises his role as the Doctor in the
first 8 minutes of the film before regeneration on the operating table).

Subject: NATPE bag giveaway-- updated info!

Hello, all...

Yes, I'm still nomail, but as I said before, I can still *post*. :)

I just sent out the first batch of bag-and-brochure packages, and I discovered
a few things. So, below are the *new* requirements for those of you that
would like your *very own* Souvenir NATPE Bag and Brochure:

Please do *not* use a manilla envelope larger than 8X11 for your SASE. If you
do, the extra weight of the envelope makes it exceed 2 oz, and two stamps are
not sufficient postage.

Either put 2 $.32 stamps on the SASE (the easy way) or get $.58 postage from
your local post office (this is the official 2 oz letter rate).

If you live in Canada, postage for the SASE will be $.72 US. If my hazy
memory of exchange rates holds up, that's approx $1 Canadian. Since I'm
planning a trip to Canada this year, all you north-of-the-border types can
just tape a Loonie to your letter. :) If I'm wrong, I'm sure some nice person
will post a correction, and cc it to me, so I know for next time.

Now, in addition to a NATPE bag and brochure, I am offering, for a limited
time, a xerox of the EM article. If you want this as well, your postage
should be $.78 (or 3 stamps) if you're in the US or $.95 (US funds, or
equivalent in Canadian) if you're in Canada.

And those of you that have already mailed me envelopes bigger than 8x11, don't
worry. I'll add the extra postage to make sure you get your goodies back. I
can't afford to do that for *everybody*, but since it was my mistake, I'll pay
the extra postage for the people that mailed in good faith. :)

Also, I am requesting that anyone who asks for a bag/brochure, and hasn't
*already* contributed to cover the NATPE expenses (bag fund *or* ad fund),
mail at least a token $1 to the SOS-FK PO box. Last I heard, the costs were
still not covered, and it only seems fair to me that if you want one, you chip
in *something* to pay for them.

This is purely a request on my part. I'm not checking the envelopes I receive
against a list or anything. :)

I was wondering the same thing. Nick asked if his vampirism was the thing
that made her so sad; and she answered that it was the thing that has
kept them apart; and he said "We're together now, what about last
night?...We can't be together?"

So, yeah, I curious too. Interpretations, anyone? (I'm sure it has
probably already been analysed six ways from Sunday, but forgive my

Now THAT was fun! (Houston Party)

Just a short party-report.

We had at least 15 people - sometimes more!
Shared fanzines, saw eps, saw bloopers, read fan-fic, visited, ate (much
pizza, souvlaki, chocolate and Blood), threw socks, got fangs, ate, watched
the new ep DON together, talked on the phone to Cherri (Houston-LA
transplant), exchanged stories about FK experiences and travels and
meetings with cast and crew, saw many pictures, t-shirts, etc. etc. and
made connections!
A high point - many FK listmemembers crowded into my little office/room
around the computer for the AOL/Ger chat. Now that was a group in its
element!

All in all, a fun time. (I still have the decorations up...)

I heartily recommend it to any listmember who wants the unique experience
of watching FK with others who love it. That was the best part for me.

Amy - where's the quote list?

ObFKP: I'm really glad that what we're doing is getting out there. I
continue to be amazed at this groups's efforts and accomplishments.

More ObFKP: I really liked Fever. I guess it put Tracy and Vachon over
the top. (Vachon was already there for me) Even with all of her
Traciness, the character's got potential. (She IS a good cop, after all...)
I haven'd had time lately to write reviews about current eps, but I'm
sure they're not missed. Everyone else seems to be doing ok without my
.02. Have to admit, though, that I can't believe that they would actually
put Ger in the marshmellow suit for the wedding. I know it's authentic
period costume, but *come on.* LOL - much

Re religious objects: I agree with whoever said that not all religious
objects are equally magnetized. Actually, IMO, all do inherently contain a
certain bit of the energy of what it symbolized. But some magical or
religious implements are consciously charged (or blessed, consescrated or
magnetized), giving them more power (energy) than others. A senstive
person can feel the difference in energy between an energized implement and
a clear one. Thus, the cross that the exorcist uses (or the vmapire hunter
in last year's ep) would have been consecrated for the specific use of
deterring ungodly entities and would have a greater effect on Nick, then
another, unused cross. 'Nuff said.

That's it for now. Greetings to all.

I only made it through the opening paragraph before it vanished. Can

I totally missed that on the show and was no-mail on the spoiler list at
the time. This is definitely strong evidence that they were intimate.
what else could Nick have meant? Yet Nat woke up on the sofa... Perhaps
they only "necked" in the mortal meaning of the word. Kind of unusual
for adults that age with a lengthy relationship history, but not unheard of.

Definitely ambiguous. To me, the words mean they had sex. But the fact
that Nat woke up on the couch... oh, well, whatever we want to believe is
what happened, right?

Subject: Call from TriStar

I was typing a message to Lana and the phone rang & my receptionist said it
was "Terri Johnson from Columbia TriStar". Huh???

Then I remembered : I left a card for her when we were at NATPE. I had
talked to her on the phone once or twice months ago, so when we were at the
Columbia/TriStar booth I asked for her and when she wasn't there, I left her
one of my personal business cards with a note. Ahhhh... she called with no
idea she was about to talk to a "Friend of Forever Knight".... <cue ominous
music>.

I explained what I had been doing in at the show. She said "Oh, your group
made quite a splash at NATPE". She said they were "still getting a lot of
letters from fans". We talked for a moment and she said she hadn't gotten to
see what we were passing out and so I offered to send her a sample.
(Cousins are always helpful...). She gave me her address.

I then asked her what we could do to help TriStar with renewing the show.

She said "the only thing I can see is to work the local stations".

She also said "the fan response has been _phenomenal_ so far".

I went on to tell her that we hoped to help TriStar in this. I said we
didn't see our relationship with TriStar as adversarial. I said, "I know you
are getting letters, but we want you to know this group of fans isn't just
whining to TriStar to continue our favorite show, it's our goal to help
TriStar make money and fund the show". (She implied that they loved the
letters, but that they alone wouldn't change the decision.)

I asked her if she had any suggestions about how we could help TriStar fund
the show. She actually stopped and thought about it for a bit.

She said that "it isn't just letters from the fans, you have to keep getting
the stations involved. They're the ones that have to demand the show".

She said that they were hearing from lots of stations saying "we know people
like the show, but the ratings just aren't there". She said that the
Neilsens might not be perfect, but "it's the system we've got". (She's
right, we deal with the same issue in radio with Arbitron.) I said that one
thing the group was trying to do was get more publicity for the show and to
make sure people knew about it.

I went on to ask her some questions about how the stations "purchase"
Forever Knight. She claimed that she didn't know exactly how FK was sold,
but confirmed that some of their deals were "barter split" and some were
cash and some shows were sold in package deals with others. (Barter-split
is where no cash is exchanged, but a share of the revenue from advertising
or avails for ads are split.)

She repeated the "stations have a large voice" in what gets offered and
repeated that they and the Nielsens' would make the difference.

She said that she was still "getting letters here", but that all she could
do was pass them along to the "head programming person". When I asked who
was the decision maker on this matter, she said "it isn't just one person".
I asked for the name of the head programming person or who else should be
contacted. She said, "The Sony TV execs, they're all getting letters, you've
got the right people", with a small chuckle. (I think we're getting noticed
folks...)

She said she'd call if she had any news and was generally very nice. (Don't
we wish she was making the decision...).

So that's it folks -- we basically knew all this:

**The local station's calls, letters or buying signals
or improved Nielsen ratings will make the difference.**

We need to keep calling those local stations -- ask *them* to write
TriStar-- work on local publicity to help increase Nielsen's and don't
forget Feltheimer & KK just for luck! (Remember Terri likely wouldn't have
know about any USA or upper level stuff).

I'm off to call KIRO. You're all great! As Jamie says, "FAITH!"

Subject: What I wanted to do - T-shirts

I wanted to send t-shirts as goodies to the cast and crew and some
assorted other people (John F., Kay K., etc.). They would be the same as
the NAPTE bag. --> if there's some reason that I can't use this please
let me know <--

While I can get the shirts at wholesale and the printing done for free
(my husband is a screen printer), it is still a bit cost prohibitive.

What I was wondering is if anyone would be interested in these t-shirts.
I'm not looking to make up the cost of the whole venture, just part of it.

Please let me know, BY E-MAIL TO ME, NOT THE LIST, if you would be
interested in a t-shirt. If you haven't seen the NATPE bags they say:

          FOREVER KNIGHT
       Remarkable television
               brings
        remarkable results!

There are no graphics and it would be red print on a white shirt. They
would all be XL and a good quality shirt (not the kind that shrink and
get all wrinkly). All I am asking is that you send me $5 and a SASPB
(self addressed stamped padded bag :) ) I will find out how much the
postage is.
