Just an update on the financial front. First, I'd like to thank Felicia and Lana for their posts, gently reminding people of the money expended. And Lana for collecting reimbursements and sending it on to me. For the record, the cost of the Electronic Media ad, which led to our contact with Paul DaCruz and the subsequent article at NATPE, was $4,760.00. The cost of the Save FK bags distributed at NATPE, including tax and shipping, came to $4,221.52. Hence, the total expended for both comes to $8,981.52. Don't faint. :-) If we get a new season, it will be in some measure due to this, and will be money very well spent indeed. The last update I had from Lana as to money received as reimbursements was around $3,800. A very considerable sum, given the time frame, the time of year (just after the holidays) and the fact that many of the same people contributed to the PAF drive as well. And I thank you, one and all, for those contributions. You guys are the greatest! :-) Needless to say, I would still appreciate more contributions from those of you who can afford to chip in. But I DON'T want anyone sending money they can ill afford. Perhaps we could seek out resources beyond the list itself? Perhaps those of you on the other online services could explain the situation and ask for contributions from there as well? My desired goal would be to have about $6,000 of the cost covered by reimbursements. I'd kick in the other $3,000 as my contribution. We're at $3,800 now, so we've got another $2,200 to raise. As for the NATPE bags and flyers: we've got lots of em left. LOTS. So, anyone who can find a good use for them can have a batch, once we figure out shipping arrangements, etc. What I mean by good use, is distributing them at conventions, at comic book or similar stores, etc. We're still working out the details on the bags, but something will be posted in the near future. And thanks again for everything! I, too, have dropped in on lists where the demarcation seems to elude many of the posters--and quickly dropped out again. I'm the first to admit I'm a cheery lech after *characters*--Vachon at the moment, Duncan MacLeod and John Kincaid for the past few years--but the actor behind any roll is a person, a stranger (at least to 99.9% of us), and deserves to be treated politely--doubly so in appreciation for the hours of entertainment he/she is giving us! (There's a tad of schizophrenia in this attitude, I know, since the actor's anatomy is rather heavily linked to the character. <g> But I hope you see what I mean.) With that one mortifying exception, this list has been *wonderful* about maintaining that kind of standard. (Stupid redecoration of the Raven notwithstanding.) I suppose I hit the Optimists' Club about twenty minutes into Black Buddha II (I missed the first part of the episode, and only saw it 3-4 weeks later). And Tracy was one of the main reasons for the change in attitude. Schanke bored the heck out me--how many souvlaki jokes *are" funny? Answer: none--but I thought Tracy had enormous possibilities. Given a certain latitude for both writers and actress to get the feel of the character, I haven't seen any reason to change that opinion. So has anyone invented a name for the Vachon-*and*-Tracy (together as much as possible) fans, or is it the assumption that we don't exist? First, I have to say that the people on this list are amazing. All the work that's been done blows me away. I do truly believe there will be a fourth season of Forever Knight now. If USA is just too foolish to know what the've got, if TriStar doesn't figure it out, _somebody_ will jump in and carry this on. And I also agree with others who have said that it's time for the networks and advertisers to get their heads out of the Nielsen-sand. Look at the absurdity of it - all those cabbies and all the other folks who have been turned on to watch FK over the past few weeks, don't count for anything if they don't all happen to be Nielsen families?!! What an idiotic system. What I came here to say, though, is that most of what I know of this show's history (character history and such) I've learned from this list, having only seen four 2nd season eps. If it wasn't for all the enthusiastic discussion of past season eps, I'm not sure I would have kept watching after some of those early USA eps. Now, I know that the _real_ Forever Knight is what's showing up in the more recent episodes. So my question (and I do have one!) is this: What would folks say are the best eps from each season that delineate each character and their relationships? Clearly, from discussions, "Be My Valentine" is one, "A More Permament Hell" another... What else? What's the best Schanke episode(s)? Anyone with opinions on this can email me privately unless, of course, there is any friendly controversy over this matter. ;-) Beth aka Casey J morsee@n....... Okay, there was something draped in the way and your couldn't see That episode with the inspector's wife was Dead Issue (from first season). In the *Canadian* version of the flashback, Nick is apparently posing nude with a young woman for the painter Bosch. But, although you're right that he doesn't have a shirt on, there is a red drapery "artfully" draped in front of them so you don't see much beyond the very *upper* part of Nick's chest. :( This scene, btw, *isn't* in the American version of that episode and it really casts a different light on the flashback (in the American version, you have the impression that Nick is there to observe the artist at work, not to model). --Sandra Gray, forever Knightie (who wouldn't mind seeing Nick's chest) --tmp_harkins@d....... Yes, I know we're supposed to in a third season episode that has already aired (it's still on spoiler protection, right? not one of the most recent eps, btw), but is it real or is it stunt double? (and it still wasn't a complete view of the chest anyway. ;) ) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Jan 1996 13:13:00 -0800 From: Swordsister <catheboo@c.......> Subject: Re: What's NATPE stand for? Apparently the Boxing-whatever-it-is that is no is live so the west coast (and I imagine various timezones in between) will be deprived of FK in favors of that highly stimulating, enjoyable sport of boxing.
