Imo, NIQ is not a good ep to use, because you should know the
characters for it to be meaningful. However, FEVER, I think, is great,
and I have a feeling this week's ep may also be good enough for those
purposes. Otherwise, I'd consider sending something from second
season.
I'm thinking of sending them over to EM: let Wayne Walley and Paul
DaCruz see what we were all trying to save.
BUT REMEMBER: technically, even giving away videotapes to commercial
outfits (critics, whatever) could be deemed technically in violation of
copyright law, so be very careful with this sort of thing.

been about the Red Cross in the USA, but donating blood anywhere is
acceptable.

Ahem, let me state that Laurie DID NOT front $5000 for this venture.

And the checks that I have received so far aren't even half of this amount
<pout>. I'll be posting an accurate amount of $ received tomorrow, once
I've picked up today's mail, but so far I've received checks from about 100
people. ONLY 100 PEOPLE out of a list of over 900!! Come on, people. I
know that some people are starving college students, but couldn't you spare
$5 or $10? I know that the checks will keep coming in, but I don't want
people to think that their $ aren't needed. People have been very generous
up to this point, several even donating significantly more than they
pledged, but don't let that stop YOU from donating. <wagging finger>

silly "mystery message". Most people, like me, deleted it after reading the
first two lines -- it didn't belong on our list or in our minds. None of us
joined this list to be exposed to "talk show" exploitation. Those who did
read it flamed the sender, as was appropriate, and our considerate list owner
expelled the culprit from all of our lists immediately, as was appropriate.
You, sir, are held in the highest regard, and we are all aware that this is
the sort of odd "stalking" attention that people in the entertainment
business are often subjected to. Give it no further thought here... we
won't.
By the way, did you get to enjoy the squirt guns too?

too. Don't let the fever die now that NATPE is over. Let NATPE be the
"foreplay", not the climax! We have a few weeks yet to make a difference,
and I imagine with the wonderful way in which our Magnificent 7 spread the
news, TriStar will be buried in mail from a whole new set of freshly informed
people!
The thought has occurred to me that the postings from our 7 regarding
*responses* by all the various people they encountered at NATPE, written
fresh and off-the-cuff as they were, would be a delightful eye-opener if
utilized in the appropriate manner. I've been sending postings to Jeff
Jarvis, the TV Guide couch critic, on a pretty regular basis. No response,
of course, but I think the comments made by people and the serendipitous
discovery of so many "closet" FK fans might make him blink. As would news
about the great EM article. I would like to send him an unedited run-out of
those postings -- if the 7 have no problem with it? After all, this stuff is
posted on a list that 900 plus people can read, and has, no doubt, been
forwarded to other interested parties. What do you guys think? I would
really like to get a response from Jarvis, and this might do it.

Quite frankly, it never occurred to me that people would see the NATPE ad
and look up the web page! Duhhh... Proof positive that advertising works.
We are now averaging a new hit every 2.5-3 minutes -- up from the previous
statistic of one every 5 minutes... and we're STILL not listed on
WebCrawler. (I registered. They're slow.)

But of course! Some of us have been saying that for ages <g>.
Nat and LaCroix have infinitely better chemistry together than Nick &
Nat. Just watch them smoulder in BMV. And Nick & Janette have
terrific chemistry together. Hence, the "Proper Pairings" appellation
that Catherine Siemann and I once came up with! :-)

Aw Folks I just had to share this....
I've written so many letters and given out Jon Feltheimer's address so
many times I know it by heart, in fact I'm adding him to our Christmas
Card list! So now Kay is back in the campaign!...OK!
I'm on the board of the local chapter of the Natl Kidney Foundation and
at the last meeting someone else brought up the Ped Aids donation... WOW
So of course I said "I just happen to have some addressed stamped
envelopes to Tri Star...in my purse... and who knows maybe next time it
could be the Kidney Foundation... One guy said "How far are you willing
to go to Save this Show, I mean would you donate a kidney or something?
I said "Only if we get 22 episodes for the fourth season" With that they
all picked up their pens so 8 more letters are on the desk of JF.

This is particularly for NYC fans--we've got to push WNYW into airing FK at
a better time, and to advertise that change.
Friday nights would really be ideal--they'd get very nice carry through
from Strange Luck (or Space: Above and Beyond which I hear is moving to
the Friday, 8pm slot in March), and The X-Files. Convince them that you'd
stay through, or turn back after the 10 o'clock news. At 11pm WNYW shows
Cops followed by MASH. At midnight they show A Current Affair (which just
got cancelled) and Night Court. Might not be a bad idea to give them a
call on Monday, tell them you watched FK last night and thank them, then
mention that it would sure be nice if it were on Friday night instead. We
don't want to make nuisances of ourselves, but follow-up on this would be
really nice, I think. You could even ask them about NATPE while you're at
it! <g>
Also write or call WPIX since they've expressed an interest as well. They
used to air FK on Sunday nights at 9pm (that slot is taken up with WB
programming now), and then moved it to 12:30am on Sunday night. In fact,
they moved FK to the 9pm slot when "Interview with the Vampire" came out
(which luckily was during sweeps or just after), and then left it there
until February (when we heard about the USA deal and they had to drop 3rd
season). I suspect that the move to the later slot didn't hurt their
ratings any which is why they're still interested in it.
If anyone wants addresses or phone numbers drop me a note.
Also, I wrote another letter to Jon Feltheimer today, and plan on writing
to the USA people again too. While I think the USA thing is probably a
bust, and I don't necessarily want them involved anyway, I've always said
it's just another letter or two in the endless round. I asked Jon
Feltheimer to make the merchandise available, and to consider releasing the
first season Canadian on pro tape. Figured it couldn't hurt.

In syndication in Washington DC on WBDC-50, they've moved FK to 9:00 on
Saturdays for two weeks, and 8:00 on Saturday next week, *before*
whatever game it is they're showing. I encourage people in the Washington

Look, please don't anybody take this as a flame, but as a proponent of
the psychokinetic school of FK flying explanation, I feel compelled to
point something out.
Felicia Bollin said that she couldn't buy Nick and LaCroix's being
able to fly from one end of a country to another. Neither could I, but
the fact is that we don't know that they can. We've never seen anything
to indicate how far an FK vampire can fly easily at once. We do know that
unlike Anne Rice's characters they apparently are not capable of crossing
oceans under their own power or Nick would not have needed help from
the Constantines in being smuggled across the Atlantic from France by
ship. In the one instance I recall where they seemed to have a long
or uncertain distance to go, Hunters in the first season, Nick, LaCroix
and Janette rode horses rather than fly. True, this was by day, but the
first season episode Father figure showed Nick flying by day in the loft,
so apparently they can fly during the day.
As negative evidence, it's true that Vachon just likes to fly by plane,
but it's also true that when he apparently needed to put some serious
distance between himself and the Inca in a hurry in BB, he used the
airlines. This suggests to me that there is a limit somewhere and that
it's not all that far.

I think that's right. It's been a heck of a long time since I took French
in school.
Non-French speakers, it translates (roughly) as Lascivious (or lustful)

and advertising person directly for FK.
