Subject: Electronic Media Update

As most of you know, we have taken an advertisement in the NATPE
edition of Electronic Media, announcing FK APPRECIATION WEEK and
advising of our attendance at NATPE. Electronic Media is one of the
two trade publications of the television industry, Broadcasting & Cable
being the other. Every syndicated station in America gets it; every
program manager and station manager reads it.

Paul DaCruz, the sales rep Celeste and I dealt with, has been extremely
helpful (what else would Cousins expect of someone with that name <g>).
The ad will run on page 121 of a 182 page magazine issue, a right hand
page (which is preferred). Almost all earlier ad placements were
*grandfathered* in years and years ago by the "Big Five": WB,
Paramount, 20th Century Fox, Turner and MGM, who among them have 69
pages of ads! Our ad appears before the NBC, Discovery Channel and
Fremantle Productions ads, among others! So they've been very good to
us. Paul has also advised us of his hotel at NATPE, so hopefully our
group can make contact, if only to politely drop off copies of what
we're distributing. He also tried to watch FK last week, but because
of the football-induced hour and ten minute delay which delayed
broadcast until 2:10 am NY time, he fell asleep in the middle of All in
the Family which precedes it here. (At least, he learned firsthand
how dedicated FK fans must be in NY to watch the show!)

Paul was very interested in our group, and he passed on word about us
to Wayne Wally, his NY bureau chief. Wayne was also interested in our
activities, and after obtaining clearance from his bosses in Chicago,
he contacted AnnMarie and Catherine for info about our group and its
activities. He has indicated that Electronic Media (EM) is going to do
a story on us! It will apparently run in the issue following the NATPE
issue!

So, some good news on the PR front to celebrate!

<salute> Cousin Deb and her (800) number reporting in! Yes, I have given the
NATPE contingent my (800)work phone and when I hear from them, I shall post
updates on their activities - this will include candy bar raids, giggling
over station manager attirie, any celebrity sighting and reports of
excessive gambling....oh and yeah, that whole SOS/FK bag thing...<vbg>

Oh and could some newsgroup savvy volunteer to post it on those since I am
"sans newsgroup" in my life. And one last thing before I go, I will NOT
cross post to FKSPOILR or FKFIC-L because (not only is it against policy) it
is a silly waste of bandwidth. If you know someone on one of those lists
that is not on the main one, forward it to them.

Well, this may seem stupid, but while we're trying to pitch "Forever Knight"
to UPN or other places, has anyone considered pitching it to Rysher
Entertainment? From what I've seen with their "Highlander" series, Rysher
has gone out of its way to *court* fandom. They have a terrific catalog of
all kinds of stuff.
Just a thought.

Fred Mollin
Ray Forsayeth
Crew in general
Stunts in General
Everybody in general
Geraint
Catherine
Nigel
Ben
Blu
Lisa
Kristen
and Greg

I would have loved to write the restof the list but I ran out of
cards...:( I still have confeti :)

I am going to get some stuff (havent; got it yet so don't know what it
will be) to go with the letters.

IT occured to me that I have never ever in all my life (only 18 years)
writtin letters to a cast of a show...never...it was strange...I had no
problem with the crew cause I am on of them but the cast...it was strange
very not me. But it was still fun.

Hi Listpals! (Hope you don't mind if I took your opening, Marcia)

Well the night we've been waiting for is finally here and I am sure
that the conference with Ger will be both entertaining and informative. I
only wish I could be with you tonight.
I cannot join in on this special occasion due to the fact that I do
not have AOL. I have a dinosaur for a computer, which means it does not have
the capabilites of handling Windows. It also means that my computer has a
5 1/4 drive. I ordered the disks right after Christmas to get set up for the
conference. As of right now, they still have not arrived. I have been very
patient with AOL. So much so that I took into account the holidays and the
bad weather as being the reason that they are delayed. But I think three
weeks is a bit too long to wait. I complained to the operator and left email
with Steve Case, mentioning that this conference is the reason I wanted to try
out AOL.
I do hope that the information that you get from Ger, will (and I know
it will) be posted to the list so that I may be kept up to date with what's
going on in our campaign to save our show.

Ok, That's the end of my Quick Message/Pity party...Now.....GO! ENJOY
YOURSELVES! Extend my appreciation to Ger for a great season and all my best
in the future.

Forever a Knightie, NatPacker, closet Cousin, and List Junkie,

Sender: maeve

Dianne,

I know how busy you are getting ready for NATPE, but I do have a small request,
please post the following to FORKNI-L for me. I'm not subscribed cause honestly
I can't afford to have too much mail come through my AOL account. Right now
I can barely afford the AOL account. But after reading some of the should we
or shouldn't we save FK posts, I feel a need to put in my $.02 worth.

Good luck at NATPE, Our thoughts and best wishes will be with you :-)

Thanks, Virginia VFoster042@a.......
-----------------------------------------------

Ok folks, I've lurking and listening in on the should we or shouldn't we save
FK posts. And here is my $.02 worth. Granted it may be a rehash of earlier
statements, but think of it as moral support.   {{{Group Hug}}}

1) In all of the updates and stuff, has *anyone* from FK said they did not
want a 4th season? Don't think so. They have valid concerns over the
quality of a 4th season. But I agree with whoever (sorry I can't find the
post) said that if we can convince TriStar to continue with a fourth season,
they will find the funding.

2) We've come so far and have accomplished so much to quit now. We've called,
we've written, we've donated, and we've talked, and talked to anyone and
everyone that we can make to listen. In the grocery store two nights ago, I
was encouraging the cashier to write and to get her boyfriend to write (She
said he already had <grin>).

Do I plan to give up? NO WAY!! This week I will be sending little notes to
all the cast and crew. Compare to many of you, I feel as though I have done
nothing at all, but we all do what we can. In my opinion, we need to keep up
at least through NATPE. Then maybe at that point, we can step back, look at
the results and plan the next move.

I have always been a believer in magic and miracles. Less than two months
ago we were told that FK would not even finish the 3rd season. And now we have
the rest of the 3rd season and working towards a 4th season. We can do this.
As many have said, if the effort is dropped now, the effect may damage more
than FK. It could damage the efforts of future groups to save future shows.

Therefore unless JP himself asks us to specifically cease and desist we need
to carry on to the very end. Where ever that may be...

"It's a kind of magic"

I'm hoping someone can help a harmless list lurker in her endeavor to
write her first bit of FK fanfic. I'm not subscribed to the fiction list and I
have been watching the show since the beginning of the second season, so I
don't know to what extent this subject has been covered: Nick's first victim.
Is there a general concensus about how he felt (nervous, excited, curious)?
What was Lacroix and Janette's role in it? Of course, this part in my story
will be in a flashback (whoever heard of a flashback in FK! :) but I can't
decide if it should be from Nick's point of view or LaCroix. I guess whoever's
POV is more interesting. Thanks y'all!

Since I tape (and edit) practically every Sci-Fi show, I've been

New World Entertainment (Strange Luck)
Ten Thirteen Productions (X-Files)
Twentieth Century Fox (oops, are they related to FOX?)

I posted something like this almost two years ago. Here's a paraphrase of
LaCroix, Nick, and Janette trapped in a snowbound cabin playing 'Scruples.'

Janette picks up the card. "Nick, it's your question. There are nine
people in a lifeboat that can only hold eight safely. How do you save as
many lives as possible?"

Nick hesitates. "How many of them are women?"

"It doesn't say." Janette checks the card again. "That's it."

"Well, how many of them are 'good-looking' women?"

"I've just told you, it doesn't say."

"Forget it," says LaCroix dismissing the matter. "He'll be at this one all
night. It's my turn."

Janette pulls card and begins to read. "A man approaches you in the street--"

"I bite him."

She frowns. "No--you have to let me read the whole question. A man
appraches you in the street. He has a million dollars--"

"I bite him."

She stamps her foot beneath the table. "You <have> to wait for the
question. It's in the rules."

"All right." LaCroix gestures for her to continue.

"A man approaches you in the street. He has a million dollars and offers it
to you. Do you or do you not take the money."

"That's an entirely different situation. I take the money." LaCroix
smiles. "<Then> I bite him."

Janette brushes the game cards from the table and hides in the closet with a
Gameboy until spring.

Subject: Explanations re Conference

I'm posting this for Erin Murphy, the online editor for OMNI Magazine Online
on AOL:

Folks, please be assured that both Geraint Wyn Davies and we at OMNI Online
are very upset about having to cancel the conference tonight. Here's what
happened:

I set up the conference through Ger's publicist. Because Ger is not
computer-literate, he needed someone to type for him; I volunteered to do so,
as I did the last time OMNI Online had Ger on for a conference. Because Ger
was not sure where he would be tonight, he asked to call me rather than
having me call him. I gave his publicist my home phone number, where I was
going to be tonight. Someone in her office passed the number on to Ger.

Somewhere in there, a digit was copied down incorrectly, and the phone number
Ger was given was one digit off. :/ So he spent half an hour trying to get
through to a phone number that didn't work. He finally left a message on his
publicist's machine at home explaining that he couldn't get through to me.
When she got the message at about 20 minutes after 10, she called me and
explained the problem. She gave Ger the correct number, and he called me. By
that time, it was about 10:30, and we had to cancel the conference.

I told Ger that we had to cancel for tonight, which he understood,
considering the delay. He was quite upset about the mix-up, and he asked me
to contact his publicist next week to talk about rescheduling the conference.
He knows that there were more than 300 people waiting to speak with him, and
he very much wants to reschedule the conference and talk with the fans. I
will call his publicist on Monday to get the ball rolling. At this time, I
can't make a guess as to when we might reschedule for, but I suspect it will
be soon, because as all of you know, time is of the essence where "FK" is
concerned.

Please let me make it clear that the problems tonight were not Ger's fault,
nor were they ours. It was a regrettable clerical error somewhere along the
line. These mistakes do happen, and unfortunately, one happened tonight. I am
terribly sorry that so many "FK" fans spent time online waiting in vain; you
may apply to AOL for credit for your online time at keyword: CREDIT.

When we are able to reschedule with Geraint, we will notify you folks via the
AOL boards and via the FORKNI list. We will also send out mailers to those of
you who are on our list and those of you who showed up at the conference
tonight. Thanks very much for your excellent turn-out tonight, and I hope to
see you all when we reschedule!

Erin Murphy
OMNI Magazine Online Editor
=================================

I also want to add that Erin was kind enough to go around to some of the
private chat rooms where FKers were gathering afterwards to explain what had
happened. We owe her thanks for all her efforts. THIS CONFERENCE WILL
HAPPEN!

Subject: Cast goodies

I was shopping today and saw boxes of those little Valentines
like we used to exchange at school (well, actually, they were
one the shelves the day after Christmas ::eye roll:: ) and I
thought it might be fun to make up a packet of them, one for
each of the cast and crew, but then I thought it would be
even more fun if the cast and crew got handfuls of them...
so, does anyone think this is a good idea (or at least a not
stupid idea) ? Would anyone else want to send them too?
And can anyone help me decide between the Beauty and the Beast
or Batman: The Animated Series set?

I'm sure this has been mentioned numerous times, but JIC, I'll say it...

The murderess from "Fate Worse than Death" (Celeste?) is on TekWar. She's

Also, TekWar's music by... you guessed it, Fred Mollin.

(It's filmed in Toronto, so I'm not surprised...)

Hey,

Guess what? The pain and toil of all those hand cramps from writing to
sponsers finally paid off to some extent.

I got a letter back from McDonalds saying thay were glad to support our
show<< appricate your vote of confidence in the televison programs MCDonald's
sponsers>>and have informed the marketing department of and Media buyers.
<< your feedback is helpful in planning futue commercial placements.>>

And a hand signed signature(His or someone elses)

In the same mail I got a letter from Kelloggs along the same lines with(extra
added bonus) a bunch of coupons.

It's kinda neat to get smething ( bsides the satifaction of helpingFK) for
your time.

Since I tape (and edit) practically every Sci-Fi show, I've been
keeping an eye out for companies to which we could appeal. Here
are a couple more. Input?
New World Entertainment (Strange Luck)
Ten Thirteen Productions (X-Files)
Twentieth Century Fox (oops, are they related to FOX?)
Touchstone

As Susan Garrett said earlier, we need inside info on this. Does
JP have any idea what company would most likely work with FK? Does
he have a preference? How does one go about courting these guys
for money?
