I'm not on the NATPE look, and I humbly apologize if this has been posted
already and I missed it, but could someone post a list of the NATPE
contingent? I'd like to know who I'm supposed to be thinking happy
thoughts about next week.

Don't forget that if Nick's using Chinese, or anything else that requires
transliteration for a western alphabet character set, they can also pass
time arguing about transliteration. I'm sure the other catalogers on this
list can verify that one person's system is another person's dyslexia. :)

And then there's the fact that medieval languages didn't have standardized
spelling ....

Maybe they'd take up poker instead. <evil grin>

I was watching some old & new episodes the other day and noticed a few
changes in the set for Nick's loft. Besides some new paintings and a new
TV, the closet door was painted at some point, and a piece was broken off
of the bronze sun Nick has hung over his stove. I suppose it broke while
the stuff was in storage? Does anyone know? Does anyone care??

> Does anyone have dups of the canadian versions for sale?

Horrors, no, you can't *sell* that stuff for two reasons: (a) copyright!
and (b) providing missing episodes for the deprived is a holy quest not
to be mixed with money. Payment may be extracted, but it should be in
fanfic, returned favors, promises to be nice to the next generation of
newbies, etc. (Hey, I've been trained right by those who have been helping
*me* out!)

And everyone remember, if they ever release the episodes professionally on
video, we are all honor-bound to buy at least one complete set!!

Looks like I'm not welcome around here any longer.
I had asked one of the other members on the contact list about EM and
they knew what it was,but had not received any information on the list
about it. I thought maybe I missed it when my server went down. In this
letter you see that Laurie is "terrified of what I might have said". So,
Diane, please have someone else finish the press release for NATPE. I
wouldn't want to embarass anyone. The AOL list and the newsgroups need
attention also. They should receive a daily update. This all started
Thursday because I didn't notify Laurie right away when I talked to the
man from EM. Real life reared it head and I had an emergency to take care
of and I posted to the list and not to her. I was duly chastised for this
yesterday. I may be thick skinned, but I can only take so much.
You are a wondeful group of people, thank you for giving me the
opportunity to"meet" you all.

You wrote:

What the he** have you been doing these last two weeks? Do you ever
read your mail? DIdn't Celeste and I just spend an entire long
weekend, and more, designing an advertisement for that publication?
During which time, as one of the press people, you were repeatedly
included in our loops? Haven't I posted to the list, repeatedly, about
what EM is?

And you call yourself prepared??? Sheesh!

For your information, this is serious stuff. EM is the principal
trade publication for the television industry. The magazine that EVERY
SYNDICATED STATION IN AMERICA SUBCRIBES TO. The magazine that EVERY
GENERAL MANAGER AND PROGRAMMING MANAGER IN AMERICA READS. The issue
that our ad is appearing in contains 69 pages of ads from WB,
Paramount, Viacom and the other two of the *big five*, prepurchased
literally years in advance. Our ad has received placement before NBC
and a number of other important production companies in the business
because of the schmooze work that Celeste and I did. This is a major
coup.

First, I was just annoyed that you didn't tell me you spoke to WW.
Now, I terrified of what you might have said to him. I'm the idiot who
gave him your name, after all. And you don't even pay enough attention
to your mail to know what the he** I was talking about??? Or how
important this could be???

Laurie, too flabbergasted now to care about an apology

have the time or resources to have them re-done! We need you to AT LEAST

However ticked you are at anybody else, please do NOT let those of us going to

I like this idea also. Dictionary? We don't need to stinking... :)
perhaps they agree to limit the languages to European ones. Then all
they would need to argue about was spelling. "That's not correct."
"Certainly it is. This is the way it was written between 1325 to 1407."
No dictionary would help. I think they would just have to argue it out.

I know the answer to this one. Its simple. FK vampires can go without
food for as long or as short a period of time as the plot demands :-)

I don't think that's any good for anything but sexual pleasure. They'd
need to lose as much as they gained and I think that would offset the
benefits of the blood they gained.

I tried to get into the sony homepage several times. Could someone send

I would also like to do the 'large box' thing and send a whole packet of
stuff to everyone at the show. And considering that I'll have to send it
airmail from South Africa, it'll cost a bit, so what I want to do is send
some sweets that you cannot get in Canada to the cast & crew. I thought of
Smarties, since they come in all size boxes & wouldn't cost that much to
send airmail. Anyway, here's my question: do you get them in Canada??

Ok guys, the mood on the list is getting a little hostile again. I know
that everyone is working *very* hard on this campaign and time is
running out. We are all stressed over getting the word out to our local
stations and raising money. Not to mention that most of you all are
fighting some very nasty weather at home.

Now is the time for us all to take a step back and remember all of
the good laughs we have shared from being members of this list. So I am
sending out some virtual sunshine from my home ( where it is 83 deg
right now) to all of you stuck in the white stuff. Some Virtual Valium
( the proverbial Chill pill) for those who feel they need it. And a
understanding shoulder to cry on for those with hurt feelings. Go out
today and do something nice for yourself.

Remember they *may* be able to take our show away but don't let them
take the special friendships we have on the list away. Please don't
give these people that much power. You never realize how important
friends are until you lose them.

Dear Martha [cheeky devil!],

Thank you for your letter regarding _Forever Knight_. We appreciate your
interest in the programming on which we have chosen to air our commercials.

We have received many letters from viewers who are quite concerned about
the possible cancellation of this show. We share your interest in
keeping this program on the air and have forwarded all of the letters
that we have received to the appropriate party at _USA Network_. We hope
that these efforts will be successful.

Thank you again for your interest and concern and for taking the time to
share your thoughts with us.

This has pleased me greatly. Of course, I'd feel TERRIFIC if he could

Subject: Navigating to FK Spots on AOL

Hi, Listpals!

I don't know about most of you, but I can't wait for tonight's Ger
Conference! And hearing from several people who have signed onto AOL just
for this conference, I thought I'd pass on some info to make your visit
pleasant (you *are* going to use up all of those ten free hours, are you
not?).

This is all FK-related!

1. Sign on EARLY tonight! Expect to have to try a few times to get on.
We're all used to that by now. Just be patient and keep trying. But you
need to give yourself time to get all the signing on out of the way.

2. Then go to the OMNI area by pressing Control-K (Command-K if you're on a
Mac) and typing in the keyword OMNI. You will be asked to patiently wait for
the art download, which is free, I believe. It's way cool and worth the
wait... and necessary. It's a once only, don't worry.

3. Once there, click on OMNI CHAT. In that next window at the top of the
scroll box, you will see a listing about the conference tonight. This is not
a document, but actually an amazing collection of all the FK stuff that OMNI
has! We're talking conference logs from last year's Ger and Nigel Bennett
conferences, pictures, folders, Web sites related to FK, and Web sites
related to vampires in general! Almost like a mini-FK Forum! Do check it
out because it's up just for the conference and may be gone in a day. The FK
stuff also hangs out in an area in there called "SPECIAL! SF/Fantasy TV &
Film Library", accessed through the OMNI CHAT window, which is almost *only*
FK stuff.

4. FK Folders in the TV Viewers Area - there are a mess of FK folders on
where the show is aired, spoilers for new eps, general news, discussions, the
Save FK campaign, and more! Here's how to find our little home away from
home on AOL:

Go to keyword: TV VIEWERS > Wait patiently for art download! > On the main
TVV window, click on Prime Time and Late Night TV > Then in the scroll box,
go down to Syndicated D-F > There's the folders!

The folder called "Forever Knight - Ten" is the current discussion folder.
The "ten" refers to the fact that we have had nine previous discussion
folders that went to archive heaven after passing 1000 posts each!

5. FK Chatting - I'm only aware of three regular chats for FK on AOL -

----Mondays at 11 pm ET in the TV Viewers chat room The Remote
Control. This is the Knight Watch Chat which I host! The room
holds
48 and we've been filling it lately!
Go to TV GOSSIP or TV VIEWERS> Click on The Remote Control
(Chat logs from previous FK Chats are available at TV GOSSIP
in the TV Chat Archives file library)

----On the last Sunday night of the month, there's also a monthly FK
chat
in The Remote Control chat room.

----Sat. nights in the private room "The Raven" at 11 pm ET, I think
(to get to a private room, select People's Connection on the Main
AOL menu screen, click on List Rooms, click on Private Room, and
type in the name of the room

BTW, for the conference tonight, I'll be on early as ScFiMarci if you want to
look me up. I plan to land in Row 81 (for 81 Kilo, of course!). You can
send me an Instant Message if you need to ask me anything - to do that, press
Control-I (I for Instant). The usher is OMNI Rose, and she can also be
helpful.

I'll see you at the conference! Enjoy your stay!

Thought that this might cheer everyone up a little. As of today,

Let those who have failed take courage;

No question is ever settled
        until it is settled right.

O man bowed down with labor!
        O woman, young, yet old!
O heart oppressed in the toiler's breast
and crushed by the power of gold!
Keep on with your weary battle
        against triumphant might;
No question is ever settled
        until it is settled right

I believe JWT is the J. Walter Thompson advertising agency. Perhaps they'll
"sell" the ad's response from you to other advertisers as "well worth the
money and space"!!

I got a reply from Midas to a letter I wrote 2 weeks ago. Here's the meat:

"Dear Ms. Echelbarger:

Thank you for taking the time and writing your letter about our advertising on
Forever Knight. It is always a rewarding experience to hear from a customer
who is pleased with our work. We strive for customer delight.

We will be sharing your kind words with the teams that participated in
creating and placing the advertising. Stay tuned for more!"

It ends with the standard 'keep using our services' line. It's not hand
signed, but the typed name is E. Christian Schoeleb, Marketing Vice President,
and it's CC's to seven people, one of whom is with JWT (whatever that is) and
another who's with Levy (which I think is an ad firm), so at least seven
people are getting feedback from one letter!

And on the NATPE front:

10,000 white bags with "FOREVER KNIGHT Remarkable television brings remarkable
results!" in red were shipped to our Las Vegas hotel today from the NY
factory, so they should be there in plenty of time.

The current bag fund pledge total is $3510.

Some 'official?" news and sortof misinformation
In the AZ Republic, they printed a brief on 1/17/96:
>"USA Network to drop failing vampire series
>The vampire drama Forever Knight didn't scare up big ratings, so cable's
>USA Network is dropping it.
>USA had been airing original episodes of the program, which revolves
>around a vampire detective working in modern-day NYC on Mondays at 8 p.m.,
>with a repeat Tuesday night at 7.
>USA dropped the MOnday telecast as of last week. Two remaining original
>episodes, and then only repeats will air in the Tuesday slot for the
>foreseeable future. Compiled from reports by Republic and Gazette staffer
>Dave Walker, Philadelphia Inquireer, New York Daily News and Washington
>Post."
First of all, yes, USA stopped airing on Mondays but they are airing
Tuesdays and Thursdays (Thursday at 11:00 pm). Second, when did Nick
start working in NYC or has Toronto been relocated <g>?
