Subject: Newspaper Article!!

Well, it finally got published!! And as so many people asked for copies I
thought I would send a transcript to the list, but if you still want a
normal copy, let me know, and I will get it to you.

Unfortunately for me, this thing hasn't been out 5 hours, an already
people are calling, not about the show, but about wanting my autograph,
and I am seriously tempted to take the phone off the hook....Ahhhhh, the
things I do for FK. Maybe I'll just stay logged on, all night to my
account, thereby tying up the phone lines!!

Anyways enough thinking outloud, here is the transcript of the article.
There are one or two things she might have gotten wrong, but nothing
major, that we can't forgive her for. Any comments I make on the article
are in brackets.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
FANS WON'T LET THEIR FAVORITE VAMPIRE SHOW FADE TO BLACK
By Connie Murley

CORNER BROOK---It will take more than garlic and silver bullets(her words
not mine) to stop the fight to save Nick Knight.
When fans of his late-night television show, Forever Knight,
discovered that their favorite program is on the network chopping block
they pulled out all the stops to have it renewed. And many, including
city resident Paula Hurley, have taken their fight to the Internet.
(actually it originated there, but I'm not picky)
The show revolves around an 800-year-old vampire, played by actor
Geraint Wyn Davies, who wants to be mortal again and is working as a
homicide detective in Toronto to atone for his vampire sins.
Co-star Catherine Disher, Dr. Natalie Lambert on the show, is
searching for a cure to bring him back from the undead. But Lucien
LaCroix, Knight's vampire master, played by Nigel Bennett, wants control
over his eternal soul.
Hurley says the show has developed quite a cult following.
"I've been interested in vampires for years, so anything to do
with them intrigues me," says the second-year anthropology student at Sir
Wilfred Grenfell College. "This show was good so I kept watching."
But being a fan isn't always easy. The show is broadcast at 3
a.m. Saturdays on one network and this is the third time in five
years(according to ye guys, I wouldn't personally know) that fans have
had to rally to keep it from being laid to rest for good.
Forever Knight followers found out that the network responsible
for the show was pulling out of it last month, when the executive
producer(I think that's what JP's title is) posted a notice on the Internet.
Hurley says although actors and others close to the show were
told of the decision, the media and the fans have been told nothing. No
good reason has been given for the decision, she says, and no official
information has been released.
That's were the power of the people comes in. Hoping the network
will continue the series, or another will pick it up, fans have sent
electronic and "snail mail"--letters the human mailcarriers deliver(I had
to tell her what I meant)--to the show's producers, broadcasters, and
sponsors. Others are making donations on behalf of the cast and crew of
Forever Knight to the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, one of the star's
favorite charities, there have been blood drives and lottery tickets sent
to the network executives with the request that any winnings be used to
continue production of the series or donated to charity.
"I've never done anything like this," Hurley says while checking
the Internet for latest news from Friends of Forever Knight. (Actually we
were downstairs, the computer is upstairs, but locale doesn't matter)
"I really like this show and I would hate to see it cancelled.
There's not a lot of Canadian shows out there that I like and this is
pure Canadian--all Canadian talent, based out of Canada, filmed in Canada.
"Fan effort has succeeded in some cases with other shows so
hopefully..."

(In the center of the article, which is about half a page long, there is
a picture of me with my back to camera, looking at the tv screen
with the FK logo paused there. An below the picture it say..

University student Paula Hurley, a fan of the television show
Forever Knight, has joined the effort to keep the show on the air.
Hurley says the program has fans in Canada, the U.S, Australia,
Europe, and other countries, and their letters are flying fast and
furious over the Internet. Friends of the show can be reached by
logging into
http://members.aol.com/CuznJamiMR/SaveForeverKnight.html.

I hate it when she quotes me, or puts my name there, but I did it for a
good cause, so now I have to live with the repercusions.

Well, that's it, now if anyone wants to reach me for comments or anything
else, I will be hiding under my bed for the next century.

Subject: My husband is a cousin!

My husband and I have been watching a lot of forever knight lately, it
seems that actually watching it has snapped me out of my depression.
I found out my husbands big secret. He is a closet cousin. He wasn't
converted until the second season happened and the 'Nightcrawler'
appeared. You see, Jeff use to work the graveyard shift at the local
radio station as DJ. So he can identify with LaCroix.
This can be dangerous.
The last time Jeff started identifying with characters, my son ended up
with the name David Jeffrey Don. Me in my stupidity believed him when he
said that he wanted to name my son after my father, him and his father.
He lied!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He named my poor sweet child after David lister!
What's even worse, guess who the Don was?
My son was named after Shanke!
If I ever have another child, I will be more careful in choosing names.

Here is a synopsis of a Absoultly Fabulios story that will never be aired.

"Eddie finally convinces the famous designer LaCroix to decorate her
house. Unfortanly to her, she was very high at the time and hired the
wrong LaCroix. Who as soon as he gets into the house drains her and Patsy
and gets very ill. So sick that he brings Eddie's daughter Saffy, and
Eddies employee Bubble across.

next week on Ab. LaCroix
find out what happens to LaCroix when he discovers he is master to a
vampire that is more airheaded then Urse. Also, the wild side of Saffy
comes out when she meets the man of her dreams Vachon.

Take care everyone

Subject: PROGRESS!!

Please excuse me for shouting but - HURRAY!

Just spoke to the columnist at the Orlando Sentinel that writes
Cyberscene. (I haven't been getting anywhere with the TV critic, despite
e-mail, press releases and a phone call). Anyway, this person is an FK
fan too and said it will be mentioned in next Tuesdays column. And since
the Orlando Sentinel is on AOL, that gives us more bang for the buck!
She also said she'd write a letter to Tri-Star!

A small local Seminole County newspaper in Oviedo also said they'd
include mention of this next Thursday (weekly paper).

Also - received notification about being in Fandata - I registered today
and two non-list friends also.

So, people who are nervous about contacting your local paper (and that's
me too) - please give it a whirl.

As Laurie and others have mentioned - this two week period is critical.

Lastly - what other Tri-STar pictures are showing right now besides Jumanji?
I have friends who will go but have seen this one. Or which popular
videos are TriStar? Help!

Thanks. Cyndi

Subject: Jamie's Penance (1/1)

        Author's Note:
This story was inspired by a recent flurry of posts to the forkni-l
list. In the initial post, Jamie cried "Mea culpa!" and admitted to failing
to keep her vow of not smoking. For this, she cannot be blamed. I myself
made the same vow, and have cheated somewhat. I imagine that others will now
have to find penance for _me_ to pay. Anyone with suitable ideas for my own
penance can e-mail me privately or post 'em to the list.
Anyway, Jamie said that when nicotine-deprived, she transformed into
a hideous twelve-foot tall beast. Someone else on the list (I apologize that
I cannot remember whom) said with a definite tongue-in-cheek that we should
keep Jamie from smoking for two hours, wait for her to transform, and then
send her down to USA headquarters for a "talk" with Kay Koplovitz.
I am a visually-oriented thinker with a vivid imagination. The image
instantly sprang to mind of this confrontation. I e-mailed Jamie and asked
for permission to use this, as some might think I was trying to insult our
devoted WebGoddess. She gave me her blessing to run with this.
But -- if anyone has criticisms or thinks that I should not have done
this, e-mail me *privately*. _Please_ do not post your gripe to the list. I
and I alone am the author of this piece.
        Without further ado . . .

                                Jamie's Penance (1/1)

Jamie Melody Randell had not had a cigarette in nearly two hours. She
normally did not deprive herself, due to the fact that if she did, she became
*something else*. But she had elected to let herself become *something else*
for the sake of The Cause -- saving "Forever Knight".
Through a fairly major miracle, she had reached her destination un-
noticed. The placard on the door said "KAY KOPLOVITZ" in simple black let-
ters. Jamie raised a huge, deformed hand, and knocked.

<KNOCK KNOCK> The knocks were very loud.

Inside the office, Kay looked up with distinct irritation. She hoped
that the person knocking was her secretary bearing coffee instead of an arm-
ful of letters of protest regarding her recent decision to cancel "Forever
Knight".

"Come in," Kay called out. She was proud of herself for keeping her
voice level and calm.

Two more knocks. Kay was now quite angry. She got up, and opened the
door. "What the hell --" Kay stopped speaking. She was staring at *something
else*.

The *something else* was Jamie, but she was definitely not herself.
Jamie was now twelve feet tall, and had to practically double herself over
to avoid poking holes in the ceiling of the anteroom to Kay's office.

Red and balefully glowing eyes dominated the hideous face of the
beast that was normally Jamie. Heavy, fetid breath hissed from its mouth at
semi-regular intervals. Kay stifled the urge to vomit, and nearly screamed.

Kay's eyes, despite orders from her brain, continued to examine the
creature. Its skin was covered with porcupine-like quills, each a half-meter
long. The powerfully-muscled arms ended in misshapen hands. The hands had
the normal number of fingers, save for the fact that each finger was tipped
with a wicked-looking claw almost as long as the quills on its skin. Then
Kay noticed the hissing noise, and looked down. The claws were dripping.
The liquid was a molecular acid venom. It was eating holes into the expen-
sive cultured-marble floor. The beast spoke at last. "I'd like to talk to
you," it said.

"A-about what?" Kay said, her voice surprisingly level.

"About the fate of 'Forever Knight.' Incidentally, Ms. Koplovitz,
your fate as well."

                                ************

Remember: this was done with Jamie's permission, and it was she who
told me to post it to both lists. Comments, criticisms, or virtual Jolt Cola
to my private e-mail address.

Am I the only one here who doesn't mind the idea of LaCroix running a grunge
club? I'm not really a grunge fan myself but it facinates me. The attitude
is fresh in more than one way. I suppose I'm biased because I'm relatively
young, but the thought of a vampire grunge club make me laugh happily. Once
again, I've not seen the club the way it once was so I've nothing to compare
this new version with, and I've only seen ONE episode with the club at all,
(hoping I can add up another on Saturday,) so I know that I *don't* know
what's best for this show. But that won't stop me from discussing.

Yes this is FK related. <g>

Reading _Homcide:_A_Year_on_the_Killing_Streets_ by David Simon, I learned
(very graphically :P) *exactly* how an autopsy is carried out. My question
is: have we ever seen Nat actually *do* an autopsy? I hope she didn't peel
of the poor guy's scalp. For once, I can actually do without realism.

Oh, and reading _Our_Vampires_Ourselves_ I couldn't find any reference to
Forever Knight (:P again). I'm working my way through folklore accounts of
vampirism. Big difference from what I expected in the stories. Maybe, when
I'm done I'll write a paper <g>.

Interesting fact, though: Dogs and wolves are traditionally the enemies of
vampires: According to Romanian tradition, no vampire would have survived
being around Perry long enough to bite him, let alone bring him across.

I just received yet another HUGE post to this list, the majority of it
mainly a repost of someone else's WHOLE message! Isn't the rule just FOUR
lines of info from a previous post? With the SOS effort still ongoing, we
cannot afford to have people dropping off the list because they can't afford
to pay for all that extraneous info.

Yes, that's right, some people have to pay for each line of incoming text in
an email. Or pay a commercial service for the time it takes to dowload it.
Could we please keep to the rules?

Sorry for sniping,

Mike

Dianne, so if I call KCBS now it will make an impression on them? "Wow,
two phone calls in one night? People must really like this show!"

OK, OK ::::gritting teeth:::: I will! And here I thought I was the only

Write your local station! Order them flowers/cookie bouquets/chocolates for

Speaking of which:

Anyone who wants to know if their store has a Cookies by Design store can call

And would the listmembers who watch on Fox 47, Madison (I know there are at

I did a flyer that was/or is on Jamie's webpage. I've changed it a little,
focusing more on the syndicated stations. If any one wants one and wants
there local station address on it email me and I'll do one up and send it to
you as a gif(or any format)
or CorelDraw3.0 if you have access to CD. When you mail me put something
like SYNDICATED FLYER so that I can weed it out.

My two favorite shows, together at last!

While watching TV tonight I saw an ad for a movie produced by Sony/TriStar
that is now being sold on video. It is a children's movie called The Indian
in the Cupboard or something to that effect. My nephews saw it at the
theater and liked it well enough.

                   THE SHOW THAT WOULDN'T DIE
Forever Knight Appreciation Week set for January 14 - 20, 1996

(New York, January 11, 1995) Fans of the television show
"Forever Knight," a late night program with a devoted following,
will shift their campaign to save the show into high gear during
the week of January 14-20, 1996. A variety of activities in
honor of the show, its producers, distributors and sponsors are
planned.

Sunday, January 14 will kick off the week as the Friends of
Forever Knight declare the day to be Sony/TriStar Appreciation
Day Nationwide, and show their support of the producers of
Forever Knight by spending their money on Sony/TriStar products
including seeing a TriStar movie and purchasing Sony electronics.

The Friends will continue to demonstrate their appreciation
[materially] by declaring an America On-Line Appreciation Day in
honor of the internet service which has welcomed them and
promised an expanded Forever Knight site to accommodate their
growing numbers: January 15 is the day to log on, have a virtual
party in cyber-space, and discover what's available for Forever
Knight fans at this growing service.

Other activities include a nationwide Syndicator Appreciation Day
on January 16, the first turnover of funds in excess of $5,000 to
the Pediatric AIDS Foundation on January 17 (a chosen charity of
the show's star, Geraint Wyn Davies), an Overseas Appreciation
Day on January 18 and a Sponsor Appreciation Day on January 19.

The weeklong campaign will culminate on Saturday, January 20 with
The Friends assembling throughout North America to donate blood
to the Red Cross in honor of the cast and crew of Forever Knight.

For more information on the myriad activities planned for this
week, as well as ongoing projects in the campaign to keep Forever
Knight alive in syndication, Check out the Friends' homepage at:
http://members.aol.com/CuznJamiMR/SaveForeverKnight.html or
contact any of the above people by phone.
