To Whom It May Concern:

At 10:15 p.m. on the night of Saturday, January 6, 1996, Ms. Lisa
Anne Prince was admitted to Fairfield Hills Sanitarium. She is
currently under my care and in light of the condition she was found
in, I am asking for your help. We currently have her locked in a
padded cell where she is curled up in a ball, in the corner,
repeating the word "Uncle" over and over again. If anyone has any
idea why she is saying this, or feel that they can shed some light
on her current condition, please contact me.

Here is some background information. She was found by a family
member, cowering in the corner, mumbling incoherently. Both the
television, tuned in to the USA Network, and the computer were on.
The following was typed in but unsent:
**********************
Hey, Hey Guys <weak wave> Well, I did it. I already fulfilled
half of my Forever Knight resolution, so here's the other half.

<shudder> <whimper> <shudder>
Dear Ms. Koplovitz:

I've just had the immeasurable please <Oh God, I feel sick> of
watching your Network's new comedy <moan>, Campus Cops. I must say
<gag> that this was truly <choke> one of the . . . .
besttelevisionshowsI'veeverhadthepleasuretowatch <running for
bathroom>.

<staggering back to computer moaning loudly>
The plot of the episode was very engaging <if you happen to be a
brain-dead idiot>. The witty repartee of the characters was most
refreshing <sort of like the smell of a pot-a-pottie in August>.
The depth and intelligence of the female characters is something
rarely seen on television today <bikinis, why are they all wearing
bikinis?>

Because of the quality, thought-provoking nature of this show, I
will be tuning in <no-no-no-no-no-no> to watch every week
<whimper>. You have a loyal viewer <moan> in me. I hope that this
show has a <shudder> very <whimper> long <cring> life. . .

Sincerely,
Lisa A.......
***********************
That was the extent of the letter. As mentioned, if anyone has any
ideas about how to help move her recovery along, please contact
Dr. Luke LaCroix at moonlight@g........ Also, if anyone can tell me
why she starts giggling uncontrollably when I tell her I'm in the
room, I would greating appreciate it.

Well, my *first* reaction was, but that's a VOICE line, you idiot! If Marg is
hearing-impaired, she needs a TDD line!

Then I thought... shouldn't we all be calling these toll free numbers, in
*addition* to writing?

And I went and checked packages.....

Here's a Consumer Comments number for Kellogg's (off the Pop-tarts package)
8am-8pm ET weekdays 1-800-962-1516

And a questions or comments number for Hormel (off my Spam can) <g>:

And for Proctor & Gamble (off my tube of Crest):
1-800-543-7270

Subject: SOS PR:Two new ideas

Herein are a couple of new PR ideas for SOS FK -- put up for grabs and comments:

***Support at Cons***

Dunno why I didn't think of this before: if one buys a copy of LOCUS
(magazine *about*, rather than with, SF), they have (every other month,
actually) a full listing of almost every SF con in the country. That gives
us lots of places to make contact with, send flyers to, etc. -- and, for
that matter, to advertise to the list to see if we have listmembers in the
relevant cities, as the dates approach. In long-haul terms (for example,
Jacqueline Lichtenberg said to me that it's none to early to start thinking
about LunaCon, the major NY con in Rye in March), this ought to be a very
effective tactic.

Feeling *duh* but glad I finally came up with it.

***WELL***

So I was talking about the Internet aspect of this with a friend, who said
"Of course you're talking to Stewart Brand, right?" So I said *duh* again,
and started typing this. Stewart Brand, publisher of the Whole Earth Access
Catalog and world-class visionary, runs the WELL: Whole Earth 'Lectronic
Library. For the best in PR about our wonderful Internettedness, Brand's
our man. I believe he's still in Sausalito; anyway, he's certainly findable
on the Web. *This* is where our Internet PR release belongs (along with
personal contact, which [although often difficult] can be extremely
rewarding).

Subject: RI Party, January 20th

Hi all: I'm finally getting directions, etc. out for the party on the 20th...

Host: Meredith Pickering
Location: Cranston, RI
Who Should Attend: Anyone who can drive here or take a bus or train...
When: January 20th, 3p.m. - ? Anyone is welcome to stay over: I have an
extra bed, a couch, and plenty of floor space.

Pets: I have two cats, and a dog, but the dog will be staying at my mother's
(she's a tad hyper...

Parking: plenty till 1 a.m.- after that, there's off-street parking two
blocks away, and I'll shuttle anyone back & forth who wants to stay later.

Food: bring your favorite dish/munchies. Will have soup, chili, buffalo
wings, a few other small dishes , plus blood/blood lite, and a new FK related
drink, name to be decided.

FK related: many 1st & second season tapes, a few 3rd (my VCR is acting up,
still), the blooper reel. Bring anything else you've got.

Directions:
By Train or Bus: Providence! And tell me when to come & get you!

By car:
10 exit. Bear right on exit ramp (Elmood Ave).
Take a right at bottom of exit. Follow to first light, take a left on Rte.
12 (Park Ave.). Follow to intersection w/Rtes. 1A/117 (first major 4-way
intersection, about 1 mile or so), take a left.
Follow to intersection w/Broad Street (Brooks Pharmacy ahead, to righthand
side, Walgreen's to your left), take a left. (**Note: this intersection is
not a symmetrical, 90-degree angle type, so when I say left, I mean the main
road toward the left, not one of the side streets**)
Follow through one light: look for Narragansett Street to the right (about 4
or 5 streets from the light you pass through), take a right onto
Narragansett. (**Note: if you miss Narragansett, take the next right, Bay
View**)
Follow Narragansett one block to the first left, Dennis Street. Take a left
on Dennis.
Follow Dennis across Bay View (stop sign), across Smith (no stop), and take a
RIGHT on Xxxxxxx Street.

I'm at 000 Xxxxxxx, on the left, about halfway down, immediately before a
small, one-level blue house. Park anywhere on the street: ring the top
doorbell - I'm the upstairs apartment.

>From the NORTH (MA, Providence, etc.) by car- Take Rt. 95 South to the
Thurburs Ave. exit. Bear left on exit ramp (under highway). At bottom of
ramp/light, take a right. This is Allen's Ave. It becomes Narragansett
Parkway.
Follow road: you will pass a Dunkin' Donuts and a fruit market to your left
at the top of a hill - you're getting close, don't drive too fast. When you
can see the Shell station ahead to your left, begin to look for Montgomery
Street to the right: Montgomery is just across from the first driveway of the
Shell station.
Take a right on Montgomery: follow 1 block to first left (Dennis Street).
Follow Dennis 1/2 block to first left (Northup Street). See above (from
SOUTH) for specific directions to my house.

If you need more info, plan to attend, or would like my phone # in case you
lose the directions (or your way, once you're on the road...), please e-mail
me.

Hi all,

My server was supposed to be down today, and it may yet go down, but
while I'm here, I"ll let you know that (1) I get Locus; will check on
upcomings and let you know, but there is Syndicon upcoming in April, and
at least the SF version was SUPPOSED to be about FK this year; and (2)
track down Stewart Brand and I'll go to his houseboat. If he's still in
Sausalito, that's only a 45 minute drive from me, and it's where I go to
walk on the beach anyway.

Subject: SOS/"Inside Source"

Because of the questions concerning the Telemunchen situation, I
contacted all the people who might have firsthand info to pass along (one
of whom *told* me to spread the "huge good news" that raised all our
hopes), and who at one time or another have told me things. All three of
them have politely declined to go on record. One of them, however (a
different one than the h-g-n, who expressly named Telemunchen) said the
info he gave me privately could be repeated and attributed to, his words,
"an inside source."

so here's what he originally said:

"We're getting close to TriStar agreeing to finish the season, mainly
because Paragon has a commitment to deliver 22 to Europe and
Canada. However, TriStar is still stalling on the green light."

Big help. This is not exactly news, I know, but I feel guilty
about being a rumormonger. At least it's a bit of authorized
confirmation.

I agree. Here's another idea that we did during the Starman campaign.
Balloon bouquets to execs. We used star-shaped balloons. Maybe for this
we could some kind of vampire-related balloons?

Sherri, if your group decides to do this, I'll make a contribution. These
bouquets can end up being expensive, but cookies, balloons, Spam, etc, make
a statement. Can anyone think of a vampire-related gift to send? (other

Also, since you're the resident costume expert, can you date the
Vachon/Screed flashback in MBIAV? They're in what looks, from the arches
and tiling, to be a stable in Moorish Spain, and my inexpert eye says all
that lovely lace on Vachon and Bourbon is seventeenth century. -- Does
anyone know?

Am I right about that stable being in Spain? -- I think it's the
only time we've seen Vachon and Screed outside the Americas. And we know
Vachon at least came back over to fight in Queen Anne's War, the French
and Indian Wars, and god knows what else (the American Revolution?) by
the early eighteenth century.

        Thanks.

Yeah, but the problem is that I think they tend to negate letters that
are about SF/fantasy shows, assuming that we are organized as a group.
So while they figure that 1000 letters about Murder she Wrote represents
100,000 people, they downplay (discount) letters about our type of shows
on the theory that "fans" organized and produced them and therefore they
are worth less.

Do I have the slightest evidence to support this theory? Not a bit, but
I still think it happens based merely on the fact that we do know that
they discount organization.

4. We have an *official* FK Fan Club Party room (the Gloucester Room)
from 9 PM to 1 AM on Saturday night -- and we'll be listed as an
official activity *in the program book*! (What wonderful publicity!)
We'll have Canadian eps, paper to write letters on, and (in theory)
appropriate foods. (Oh, yes -- we'll have Nigel's oatmeal commercial
and Ger's Fedex ads, too. We hope to be able to borrow the blooper
reel, too, but that's still unknown. Any volunteers for that last?)

Note: There's going to a Vampire's Masquerade Ball from 12-6 AM
(way too late for *me*, gosh knows), and we may easily have a lot
of Cousins hanging out at our party until it's time to dance.

5. Celeste Hotaling, the Print Show Queen (official title, remember),
will be collecting PAF donations at the Print Show table *all through
   the con*.

6. Ron the Enforcer will be there (as noted in an individual post from Ron),
with CERK merchandise and the energy to convince a thousand LARP fans. <g>

7. Our table? Oh, yes. I give you the words of Lynne Levine:

>...we're in "Vampire's Row". Yes,
>there are _three_ vampire tables in the mezannine: us, the Camarilla
>(that's the folks putting on the vampire dance/larp), and some folks
>called "Castle Blood" who are going to be doing the half-time
>entertainment at Masquerade. Looks like we have a good location
>too: our tables are near the information table.

As I said to Lynne -- it's a shame we're not having a Blood Drive...

Credit for a remarkable amount of the above should go to Lynne Levine and
Celeste Hotaling, without whom *absolutely none of this* could be
happening!

One last topic:

All the Arisia volunteers are going to have to meet somewhere, somewhen --
once on Friday, and once on Saturday. Once we all know each other by sight,
life should be a whole lot easier. I suggest the following:

        1. Friday: We meet at the FK table on the Mezzanine
at 5 PM (as close to precisely as possible).

        2. Saturday: We meet at the FK table at 9 AM (as
           clost to precisely as possible).

        3. MOST IMPORTANT: *PLEASE* will each person who expects
to be helping at Arisia email me OFFLIST by *Wednesday*,
so I'll know who to expect at which time (and CHANGE
whatever times need to be changed in response to your needs).

Thanks to you all for your help and suggestions. My good wishes to the LA
contingent, and to anyone else holding an FK event this coming weekend.

This is a *neat* bunch of people! ;)

That's wonderful, Marg. Question: did you write to Deborah Kellerman to
begin with, or to someone else? Clearly, these are sponsors to heavily
target (at least from my point of view).

Also: do we have a sponsors' fax list? (Yes, I've cc'd this query to Karen
Tobin.) I'd much appreciate an answer (since my fax modem is right here,
and the PO [the only place you can mail things here] is a place I get to
about once a week). Thanks, all.

Subject: Re: Top Ten /Spam

I woke up this morning after my FK party. I stumbled down from the
loft bed (always make sure you're really awake before trying to get out
of bed when the bed is 5 feet off the floor). I looked out the window to
see little snowdrifts on the windowsill. They're calling it the
Blizzard of '96 here in Philly but being from Buffalo I refuse to be
impressed. The snowdrifts in the building's parking lot are only 3 feet
deep. Not quite deep enough to bury the Caddy.... yet!

Anyway, I rubbed my eyes & went into the living room to see it cluttered
with cans of SPAM. Everyone who came to the party brought SPAM, or SPAM
Lite. We even ate one of the cans of SPAM Lite, as promised to the list.
FYI, as you might guess, SPAM Lite tastes like SPAM, but it's... lighter.
Try it yourself, it won't kill you! It is the perfect portable food.

And last night, after we tried the SPAM and took a picture of the SPAM
cans on top of the TV (which was showing Ger's episode of Highlander, when
he was wearing a SPAM-colored shirt), I found an old bag of *buttons* I
used to wear to science fiction conventions. I was pulling them out to
show everyone, when I found a pink button I had forgotten about. Life
imitates war.... But it gets weirder. The pink button said:

   "I'm pink, therefore I'm SPAM."

It took us a few minutes to recover from this bit of synchronicity!
>
> TOP TEN WAYS TO EAT SPAM IN FULFILLMENT OF YOUR VOW
> 10. Postmortem.
[snip]

To add to the list of ways to eat SPAM, the attendees at the
party submit:

  - Staked with a toothpick (because it was a Jamie thing to do...)

That's how we did it last night. And each time we staked a piece of
SPAM, Bea and Barb gave out a little death cry for the poor defenseless
cube of meat product.

At least we know that if the blizzard gets worse and I'm trapped here for
days on end, I won't starve because I have many cans of SPAM. Of course,
I may go into sodium overload.

Well, 'nuff said for now. Now let's try to get that .sig file down to
four lines (grumble, grumble):

* Allison Percy, a perky Knightie            percy91@w.......          *

* _`\<,_ Contact me at percy91@w....... to find out *
* (*)/ (*) how to pledge your support and/or join the ride! *

Hmm... Maybe I should ski to Toronto instead?

Hi all:

I'm a lurker from alt.tv.forever.knight. I'm awfully sorry to hear
about how much time has been spent trying to get some response. I know
it's not much, but I've signed on to FORKNI-L to keep up, I've contacted
a couple I know who occasionally look at the alt.tv.fk to let them know
about the troubles, I'm sending letters and have also passed on some
Cdn addresses to them. They will also be sending mailings. I hope
this helps a bit. I'm very thankful for all the work so many of you
have taken on, and I'm very very impressed. I've been watching FK

Subject: Nigel in Movie

Greetings

Don't know if has already been mentioned but anyways.....

I saw Nigel in the movie "Back in action", it was made in 1984 I think
but it has only just been shown here. It's a sort of martial arts movie
with Roddy Piper (yes the wrestler) as the main character but Nigel
plays a pretty good villain. Very similar to LaCroix, wore black all
the time and everything.

It's not too good but watchable mainly thanks to Nigel's performance.
There is one scene however I just couldn't stop myself from chuckling
at. Nigel's character is getting accunputure treatment to stop
himself with some addiction (I think it was smoking? Maybe a thought
for all you suffering from nicotine withdrawal!). Being a knightie I
thought about Cherry Blossoms and smiled.

willing to forward me all the messages from 8 am EST Jan. 6th, to 2:30 pm

to resend it.

I mentioned this before on list, but in case anyone missed it:

The press releases HAVE THE WEB PAGE URL WRONG!

It's shown as /CuznJamieMR/ -- should be CuznJamiMR -- ten letters, no "e".

The press releases available for download from the web site have been
corrected. PLEASE MAKE SURE that whatever copy of the p.r. you have, that
it gives the web page URL correctly!

Oh, btw: Some lovely soul has been posting the SFKWP info to all the tv
newsgroups (I don't recognize his name, but appreciate his effort). I
don't do newsgroups, myself, but I have a newsbot program that brings me
posts with the words "Forever" and "Knight" in 'em (got a lot of Batman
stuff and unicorn-type poems) -- anyway, I read a response on
alt.tv.letterman from someone who was apparently glad to see FK go off the
air, and asked very politely why the FK post was relevant to fans of the
Letterman show.

Let's just say that I amused myself for several hours, contemplating that
question and coming up with snappy answers that I'll never post :-)

And re: my YKY have a really BAD timeslot:

Not long after the tech woke up and took off the FK tape, the local station
went into an old movie, which I ignored... until the line came along, "Are

Dear Listfolk,

The following is the test/intro post of this Loop. It asks that
anyone who should be on the loop but is not (e.g, the Prez of FK Canada?)
please come forward and... so on.

I'm posting to all three lists, so I apologize to everyone for
taking up so much bandwidth.

Thanks,

Subject: SOS Fan Club Presidents' Loop

Dear folks,

I'm sort of concerned that, with the exceptions of Laura and
Leslie of the BBFK, we are not hearing from the Presidents of the fan
clubs. In fact, make that Very Concerned. Can we get in touch?

        Everyone please say Hi:

The addressees of this list are, respectively: Lora Haines of the
Forever Knight Fan Club, Rosemary Shad of the Geraint Wyn Davies Fan
Club, Peggy Religa of the Deborah Duchene Fan Club, Star Urioste of the
Nigel Bennett Fan Club, Cal Lynn of the John Kapelos Fan Club, and Laura
Waskey and Leslie Remencus of the Ben Bass Fan Club.

The copied individuals are Laurie C. Fenster, overall strategy
coordinator for the FK Save Our Show effort, Laura Fargas/Apache (myself)
as co-coordinator, Lana G. Soward as flier coordinator, Cynthia Hoffman as
press release coordinator, Lisa Anne Prince as Pediatric AIDS Fund
coordinator, Diane Echelbarger (hope I'm spelling it correctly from
memory!) as NATPE-efforts coordinator, and Jamie M Randell as the keeper
of the Save Forever Knight page on the World Wide Web, address
http://members.aol.com/CuznJamiMR/SaveForeverKnight.html.

The object of this particular loop is to put us all in
communication with each other. One of our principal problems at the
moment is that most people are unaware that FK has been cancelled for a
fourth season, and in fact is in jeopardy of not completing its third
season. The fan clubs, with their mailing lists, are a crucial resource
in spreading this word in particular.

In addition, a number of Save-FK activities are underway (the
charity campaign, plan for presence at ARISIA, and so on), and others are
well advanced or least well-begun in planning, including blood drive and
possible food-donation efforts in a number of localities. The assistance
of offline fan club members in those areas would be *invaluable*.

In addition, those of us who are online have created press
releases and fliers that can be received through e-mail for printing,
distribution, and so on. We can also communicate SOS information or
material from you to the list.

I'm going to post this loop to the Forever Knight lists once in
the hopes of learning of anyone else -- any other Fan Club Presidents, in
particular -- who should be added to this address list, and also to let
the lists at large know that this loop now exists.

Regards to everyone,

Apache
